Worst Honda Shop in Big Island Hilo, All of staff are horrible mostly the Manager. No professionalism, Etiquette, Very poor customer Service! Bought a Chainsaw many years ago but I cant still forget my traumatic experience with the staffs. Just bought a brand new STIHL chainsaw and it broke the next day and we I went to the shop and tell them what happen, The Staff was a bitch not willing to accommodate and fix my chainsaw.. She was asking me stupid and suspicious questions sounding its my fault.. When I asked for the manager to come out He just whistle on me and asked me what's the matter? The customer service is horrible. The woman behind the counter and answering the calls needs a major attitude adjustment. They charged me for repairs without consulting me and even after telling me that there was "nothing wrong with the power washer". This goes against their own store policy as they informed me they would call me to confirm that I would like the repairs done after an initial assessment. Over 3+ months and over $150 later, my pressure washer is still not working. I will never go back to this business and I would never recommend this place to anyone. When ever I need my Honda Weed trimmer needs to be fixed I always go to Steve's Honda Sales & Service to have it done. They always explain to me what needs to be done to fix it and if they are busy they will let me know how long a wait it will take. They also call me if they find a another problem with my Honda trimmer and ask if I want it to repair. They always call me when my Honda trimmer is ready to be picked up. They always tell me how much the estimate of the job will cost and tell me the cost of the repair job. read more

Horrible customer service!!!! I called and inquired about service repair to a Honda mower that was still under manufacturer warranty because that is where we referred to by Honda. I called and the receptionist said bring the mower on in anytime no appointment necessary, seemed really nice on the phone. So we bring in the mower and they refuse to take it because we didn't buy the mower from their shop!!! I told them we were going to notify Honda because that is who referred, and they said go right ahead. Well thank you very your horrible customer service!!! read more

They advertised as servicing all models but they couldn't even fix a simple issue with my unit. They told me parts were not available. Later I found the part online easily. Eventually found someone else to do the repair. The even insisted on charging me the inspection fee. Never again. read more

I've lived on Big Island since 2012, had bad experiences with small motor service companies around hilo and my neighbor recommended Steve's Honda. I walk in and Steve is behind the counter (I didn't know he was the owner till way later), I tell him I need a good brushcutter that is reliable. He shows me several brands/models, talks about pros and cons and what he has seen in terms of longevity and repairs. I buy a $300 Honda, and that machine has cut like a champ to this day. I live in a forest area and I'm cutting thick brush like a hot knife through butter. I've had to bring it back to Steve's a couple of times for regular service, once to get a new cutting head and handles installed, and last Tuesday to get new fuel lines and service the engine. They are always pleasant and friendly. They said it would take about a week, it was done in 3 days. They cleaned it all up inside and out, only charged me for half an hour of labor, and I couldn't be happier. I read several negative reviews and I don't know how they could have had such bad experiences when I've had nothing but good service and experience with them. Maybe those people are sour because they didn't understand the issue or expected to be treated like they were important and staff was busy. They have a sign on the desk saying they don't service products unless they sell them. The first word in the sign is "apologies". That's not how a rude, careless owner/staff would make their sign. If you need a good generator or trimmer or whatever, I can't recommend Steve's highly enough. These are good, honest people and that's a rare breed these days. read more

Took my Honda generator for repair,was told problem was the muffler.They said they needed to order said $255.00 muffler it'll be a week.They changed the muffler,& called me to tell me generator is finished.When I asked to see it running with a load they had a difficult time.I waited for service tech to further examine problem.I was called again & told the generator is finished,wanting to end this unpleasant experience I paid my $361.00 bill & left.On my first visual inspection I saw they didn't even have the common courtesy to wipe down my generator with a clean cloth & solvent & return it to me in the clean state it was in.In my humble opinion customer service satisfaction has gone down hill in the business world. read more

Been going to Steve's Honda for years, and never had a problem until now. Dropped off my Honda generator in to be repaired, looked at and serviced, as it was not running right. We were charged for; spark plug, air cleaner, bottom air cleaner, carburetor, labor charge, tune up & service, note on work order stated; "tried to clean carb but still doesn't operate properly. R-R carburetor, test ok" When I got the generator home, it would only stay running with the choke halfway on and running at a high RPM, or it would stall- which is why it was brought in. After an hour of running the generator, it stopped running abruptly. I went out to try and troubleshoot this myself, and was rather upsetting with what I found. I opened the outer cover, which was falling off the generator, and, the air cleaner that was present was filthy, and crumbled upon touch-obviously old, and had not been replaced as the work order stated. I checked the oil, and it was black and smelled burnt with no viscosity. There was a pool of dark greasy gunk inside the bottom of the outer casing. The carburetor appeared to have a few new cosmetic replacements, the choke switch, and clear tubing, but still had the original unit. This work order did not have the mechanics name written anywhere. No accountability. We took the generator right back to Steve's Honda. Husband went in a few days later to talk to Steve. He said we ran it for more than an hour, (irrelevant) that the generator had seized up, and couldn't be fixed. Now we are out of pocket the funds spent on repairs, and now we have no generator. The conversation between Steve and my husband went nowhere, was told "its a common problem with this generator, we did the service..." The usual "get rid of them" response. Really disappointed in Steve's Honda service. This was a trusted place of business where one could get repairs done correctly, and afford ably. read more
