I joined Steve's Towing after being promised an office-based position with proper training on Rapid Plan software to create traffic management plans. I made it very clear during my interview that I had already worked as a Traffic Control Supervisor for 3.5 years and was looking to transition into an office role, not on-site work. Unfortunately, the experience was nothing like what was discussed. Shortly after starting, I was repeatedly asked to go out on the road as a traffic controller -- completely different from what I was hired for. When I reminded them of our agreement, I was told I would soon receive training for the office work. That training never happened. Instead, I was told to "figure out" the software on my own and continue making plans without any proper guidance or feedback. Even after doing my best to complete assignments with no support, I was suddenly told to stay home for a week because the office was "undergoing changes." Then, instead of speaking to me directly, the owner, Steve, had his receptionist call to inform me that my employment was terminated. This kind of treatment shows a lack of professionalism and respect for employees. The communication was poor, promises were not kept, and the entire experience felt disorganized and dismissive. If you're considering working here -- especially for an office-based role -- I would strongly recommend getting everything in writing and managing your expectations carefully. read more

DO NOT USE THEM!!!! If they damage your property (in my case a car key -$750 value) and will not own up to their mistakes. I have screen shots of talking to their driver and him sending me the pictures of the damage, and him saying that he wont pay and the company wont pay. Been talking to them and their supervisor lied to me to get me out of the office, saying they will pay for the portion but that didn't happen. Not once did the management get back to me, as you can't get passed the receptionist. Absolute joke and disrespect to the clients. I had the displeasure of meeting one of Steve's employees (although he was driving a truck that said Maple Roadside Assistance), and got a first hand look at this company's horrible customer service and incompetence. Reading some of the other reviews, it seems many of the employees, and perhaps the owner himself, may have a disregard for other people's time and safety. The employee, a young South Asian guy whose name I did not get, was feebly trying to hook up his tow to a SUV in an apartment complex parking lot. He positioned his truck right in front of the driveway entrance in a way where no cars could pass by him. I give the guy a bit of slack, assuming that he would probably soon as he just needs to get the car hooked up. Nope. About 20-25 minutes later, me and about 7 other cars are still waiting in our running cars while this bozo takes his time to do something I assume an actual trained professional would have completed much sooner. He's walking back and forth literally trying to kick his towing equipment into place, with the car visibly wobbling at every moment. It's pretty clear at this point that this guy has no clue what he is doing, and/or he is using very cheap equipment. As annoyed as I was, I still ask the guy politely how much longer he will be. His response is that he will "take as much time as he wants." I point out to him that here are 8 cars waiting for him to move, in which he yells that he "doesn't care!" After I ask the guy what his name is, he yells "Asshole!" Dude, I asked you what your name is, not what you are. Anyway, the guy turns around, and he's wearing a vest that says Steve's Towing, so here we are... Use this towing company if you want to deal with rude employees who don't seem to know how to actually tow cars. read more

Terrible. Unethical. Vultures. Got in to an accident on the 401 and they jumped on my vehicle. Took it to their shop. Even after my insurance company said they'll take over and even after I gave them my authorization to release the car to my insurance company, they refused. It wasn't until I physically went down there that they finally relented. Never had an experience like this before. If they tell you you have to sign something to release your car, ITS A LIE! Do NOT sign anything with these criminals. One star is too many. read more

Do yourself a favour and never get in business with these guys. The worst service ever!! Takes so long to get the car fixed even with a small damage! They promised to have the car done but a month later, its still not done. They told me to come at certain days to get the car but whenever i go, they fail to accommodate me. Horrible service bunch of crooks working this establishment including the owner and his posse of criminals. One of our trucks broke down on the 401 and we had already contacted the company we deal with for our towing and they were on the way. A tow truck driver named Diether pulled up behind our truck and contacted the OPP after we had told him we did not need his companies services as they have a horrible reputation in the trucking industry. The OPP works in cahoots with Steve's towing and gave them authority to tow us and charge us $6000 for a tow we would have paid $1500 for. Our truck was on the shoulder and out of the way of traffic. The tow truck we had contact arrived just as Steve's Towing started hooking up our truck. The OPP should look into their members who are being contacted directly by Steve's towing and vice versa. This is a ridiculous scam operation costing businesses and individuals thousands of dollars. I am willing to make an official police report after this incident. I am aware of three other companies who paid an extra $5000 when the OPP forced them to deal with Steve's Towing. Hopefully this review and our complaint does not go on dead ears as there should be criminal charges for those involved in this illegal operation. read more

I was going home from work and I hit a lady's car on the highway I couldn't stop in time. Tow truck showed up from steves towing in the nick of time and helped us get off the highway and get a police report done. They got me into a nice rental car right away and they had my car fixed like brand new. If you make a mistake like me and have insurance for full coverage these are the guys that make your bad day turn into the best day ever they even paid for my deductible. 2 thumbs up and I'm telling everyone I know with a car!!!! read more

We had a terrible experience when our car was towed and subsequently repaired by this facility. While our car was in their "secure" lot it was broken into for the airbag, which I feel was an inside job. The work took much longer than estimated. I did not trust the establishment and the owner was very shady. He had offered us a kickback near the end of the repair work to try to bilk more money from the insurance company. Picked up me on 401 exiting to the DVP after someone rear ended me. They were super professional took me straight their own bodyshop and got me a rental car right away. The even fixed my windshield chip and detailed my car. Love them read more

Wow, worst customer service in a company I've ever seen. Steve is a complete jerk for absolutely no reason. They run a very unethical practice and overcharge people for services no other company would overcharge for. Cars are kept in bad condition, rest of staff is really rude as well. Steve himself is extremely arrogant, hard to deal with, and really rude. I was told one price by the towing guy and ended up having to pay almost $400 more. Worst experience of my life, they don't even deserve one star. read more

I agree with the lady who wrote the first review because we had a bad experience as well. We live in North York and had an accident in Barrie. We told the tow truck from Steves that we wanted it taken to North York but instead they took it to their Barrie facility just so they could charge us for a 2nd tow the next day. Then we had trouble getting the car because we said we did not want it fixed at their garage. In the end we paid over $1400 just to get the car and the tow truck driver was crude, rude and tried everything to get us to keep the car with them. They have places in Toronto and Barrie and I suggest no one use this awful facility. read more

Some jerked cut me off on the highway and I ended up hitting the guard rail. Dick! Shitty day to say the least. Tow truck from Steve's towing picked us up and it was as great of an experience as one could expect after getting into an accident. The woman who owned the place made us feel comfortable and took our mind off things. Got a us a comparable rental and the work was done pretty quick. Highly recommended and will be back for the rest of my repairs moving forward. Thanks Steve's! read more

Have to agree with one of the folks said here that this company is a bunch of crooks. Recently had an accident on 401. Had no choice but let them towed the car to the closest police station for $200. They quoted me $300 extra to tow my car to my friend's place which is about 2 miles away and told me I could claim the total of $500 from my insurance company. Luckily, I didn't believe them. My insurance company confirmed that was not true. So later when I tried to call my Mazda Roadside assistance to tow my car to the dealer, one of the guys from Steve's Towing confronted me and asked me, "what are you doing?" "who are you calling?" I had to told him to back off. Fortunately, we were outside the police station. I actually felt unsafe, especially I'm a petite female. Also don't ever let any towing company to tow your car to their pound. My daughter had a very bad experience. They gave us so much hassle before releasing the car to our insurance company because we didn't want the car to be fixed by their shop. Just make sure you have roadside assistance from your car dealer or CAA. Don't let these towing companies to rip you off. read more
