This is a 3.4 mile out and back trail, located around 30 minutes outside of heber. It was a beautiful drive. After you turn on the road that will get you to the parking lot, it is a windy road with lots of switchbacks. This was an absolutely stunning trail. It truly felt like a walk in the woods. So many beautiful trees. Wildflowers are blooming. Trail was dry and clearly marked. The falls were absolutely stunning right now There is a large parking lot. You will need $6 cash to pay for the day use. Though the $6 does give you up to 3 days to go and hike in the area. On a tuesday afternoon there was only a handful of people out and about utilizing the trail.

Stewart Falls is a terrific hike in Provo Canyon to a spectacular 200+ foot waterfall! We have hiked Stewart Falls numerous times and always enjoyed visiting. It's frequently crowded in the summer, so it's best to hike earlier in the morning to avoid the crowds. Hikers, especially kids, often play in the stream and under the waterfall. The water is freezing but refreshing on a hot summer's day. Be cautious of rock fall because there's a lot of loose rock surrounding Stewart Falls. Remember your Ten Essentials (navigation, headlamp, sun protection, first aid, knife, fire, shelter, food and water, and extra clothing) and go out and enjoy this spectacular hike.

If you want to drive up a beautiful canyon, to a 4 mile (RT) family/dog friendly trail, to see the beauty of the autumn leaves (before they start falling), that ends in a spectacular waterfall, this is the trail for you IF... 1. You don't mind limited parking. 2. Crowed trail 3. Too many dogs and lots of dogs off leash. 4. Dry and dusty 5. Very Noisy 6. Lots of Sun 7. Buggy 8. Rocky There is a small size parking lot right at the trailhead that is shared with the trailhead for Mount Timpanogos Trail from Aspen Grove. There is a $6.00 fee or you can park on the street for free. Stewart Falls is one of the most scenic and photogenic waterfalls in Utah County. The falls have two tiers and is over 200 feet tall. We just hiked to the lower falls which most people do. If you are adventurous, I would hike up to the top. It is a moderate rocky hike through a beautiful forest on the east side of Mt Timpanogos. Moderate description is accurate, with a steady elevation gain. There are lookout spots to get a majestic view of the canyon, and right now there is a bounty of magnificent fall colors. So many people, lots of families with small children, and dogs. Lots of dogs. With so many people, and dogs the trail was dusty. I had to keep pulling back from the people in front of me, because the dirt was so dry it kicked up on me. Then when I stayed back, I had the people that were on my heels. So I either breathed in the dirt, or had to keep pulling off the trail to let other faster hikers pass me. The trail is mostly single file. There are some spots where it is wider for two people to walk side by side, but it's mostly a single file trail. For some reason Sundance Ski Resort decided to hire a helicopter to help with maintenance today! I'm not kidding, what would have been a peaceful, majestic, amazing hike was filled the WHOLE 4 MILES of hearing the helicopter whirling around. It was LOUD. At first we thought it was a rescue, but the closer we got to the falls, you could see that they were using the helicopter to transport large items up the mountain. Between the helicopter whirling around, and adults hiking this trail with their music blasting, this is not a peaceful hike. There are some shady spots that we took advantage of, and took several breaks. Once the sun came out it was HOT. Bugs were starting to bite when we were coming down off the trail. The Falls: The falls were great today. With the drought going on, I wasn't expecting much of a waterfall, but they were fantastic, and crowed. So, if you are wanting to get your Instagram photo, you're going to have to wait a long while for people to move out of the way. WOW is all I kept saying when we left the parking lot, and started driving down the canyon. It was bumper to bumper to bumper to bumper traffic. I've never seen anything like it in our canyons before, except around ski season. The line of cars was all the way down to the stop sign, and onto the highway. Even the highway had bumper to bumper cars trying to turn onto the road up to Sundance. Good luck trying to find parking.

This a great trail for the entire family! Enjoy all the beauty as you make your way to the gorgeous Stewart Falls! Aka, the most scenic and photogenic waterfalls in northern Utah! It's rated "moderate" and is approximately 3.5 miles round trip. There is a section that is a little steep so tread lightly. Otherwise the majority is pretty easy. Most of the trail is in the sun...the real treat is when you head into the shaded and enchanted forest area of Mt Timpanogos! You'll even find a picnic table nestled in there! A great place to take a water break and eat some snacks. If you're lucky you may even be greeted by a squirrel or two! They seem to know that spot pretty well. ;-) Best time to go is early spring to mid-fall, but it's also an awesome place to snowshoe to the falls in the winter! Be Happy Outside!

This trail was the perfect amount of shade and sun. The day was not too hot and there was a cool breeze come in through the trees. There was an area where you had to step over many a downed tree. It looks like there had been an avalanche there during the winter. Nothing a little toddler could not quickly maneuver. We went on a Tuesday and I was surprised at how many people were there. The trail was clean. I only saw a handful of people with dogs, that were all on leash. The falls were beautiful and you could feel the mist as soon as you come around the corner to the falls. It was heavenly after the hike. There was a trail that took you really close to the falls almost right inside it. My aunt was not feeling adventurous so we did not get too close. There were not tons of wildflowers on this hike or butterflies. Lots of ferns and other vegetation that covered the ground. There were a few areas where there were some bushes with thorns. I saw moms making sure the kids did not go near them because they had sharp thorns on them. We saw two brown snakes while we were there slither across the trail. Which got some squeals from the teenagers behind us. We also saw a baby deer right at the trail head. Awwww Closer to the falls I saw caterpillar sacks in some of the bushes.

I love Stewart falls! The hike round trip is little less than 4 miles and fairly easy! Kid and dog friendly! Most bigger dogs were on a leash and gratefully people pick up after their pets! You might see soiled bags hanging from trees, but they will pick it up on their way back out. The waterfall is amazing! We saw group of people rappelling down the waterfall! They have all the fancy equipment, so it safe to watch! Not too many wildflowers compared to other trails, but there are picture worthy! Definitely coming back again before the season ends!

Looking for things/places to go to due to covid and came across This place and it's so beautiful! So amazing! Will be my new hiking place! Already been here 3 times! Make sure to bring the right shoes and clothing. But this place is definitely a place to take great selfies!

Dog friendly clean great shade in parts & full sun too. It was such a treat, all ages can do it. $6.00 fee for parking for US Forestry but I believe it's good for 3 days at all hikes in the area.

The beauty of Utah never ceases to amaze me. I love this hike, I've done it a few times now and the ending never fails to disappoint. The trail itself I would consider fairly easy. It has ups and downs and definitely rocky terrain throughout most of the trail. Keep going though, the end is a pure misty delight! To enter the trail follow the mount timpanogas signs. This particular trail is to the left of the timpanogas trail and is labeled "Stewart Cascades" It's just an all around great hike for beginners and those even advanced. There is something about the beauty of Sundance and breathing in the pines and lilac this time of year. It is pure nourishment for the soul and body. This is the perfect 3 hour hike and will give any level of hiker an enjoyable afternoon. Pack a lunch and stay a while...

I've decided that I love Provo Canyon and all the hikes it contains. The hike to Stewart Falls is no exception. Just short of 3.5 miles round trip with a small elevation gain, I would categorize this hike as "easy" in warmer weather, and "moderate" if there is still traces of snow or rain. We hiked through a misty rain shower with a cloud break when we finally reached the falls and sunshine for the hike back. The rain left some small puddles our dogs enjoyed splashing through and some slick rocks, so be careful not to go unprepared. Sneakers would be just fine for dryer seasons, but hiking boots are a must this time of year. Not Birkenstock sandals like the one couple we saw on our way down yesterday! The trailhead can be tricky to spot. A free parking lot is shared with the Mt. Timpanogos Trailhead, with Stewart Falls starting to the left of the parking lot and Mt. Timp starting to the right (facing the mountain). Follow signs for "Stewart Falls."

This trail was perfect! The water fall at the end was amazing. I had a great time with my friend and it's a perfect hike for people of any age. A little rocky at some parts so be aware of that but it was great!

Just completed the 4 mile hike that took us 1 hour and 40 minutes round trip. It was beautiful with lots of snow still on the ground. My 10lb Shih-tzu even loved it. Highly recommend it!

Searched up easy, short winter hikes for solo hikers and this popped up, super glad it did! This hike is an absolute must try if you live in Utah county. It is just 1.3 miles round-trip and only took about 15 minutes to get up to the frozen waterfall. The waterfall was absolutely beautiful, all of the ice crystals and trees were stunning. It is pretty slippery this time of year so I would bring hiking poles or hiking boots that have good traction so that you can get down to the waterfall. I unfortunately wore the wrong shoes so I couldn't go all the way down. Would've broke my assWill definitely be doing this again, it's nice that it's so close and such a short easy hike for the winter time!

Parking lot: Free Size: Small Bathroom: Yes Men and women Toilet: Regular; water-based. From the parking lot to the waterfall, took 15 minutes, give or take. The trail is slightly incline, some parts more, than others and since I haven't worked out in the past few months, I was slightly out of breath, but nothing extreme before the waterfall. Moreover, there is also a path down to the waterfall, with a log to sit on, and taken in the beautiful waterfall. If one decides to go further up, the path does continue on top of the waterfall, right hand side. This trail is easy and no way of getting lost to the water fall. In additon, If you're looking for more beyond the waterfall, there is a much smaller one shortly ahead, but after that, there is not much to see. A lot of snow and mud, and dry plants. And after the second smaller waterfall, the trail does get challenging because it's all uphill. Unfortunately, I did not make it to the meadows. I came across two hikers who said they did go to meadows and it was ugly right now. I wanted to see for myself and on the way there, the path itself was very ugly, muddy and dry. Henced, I turned back. Overall, family friendly, easy hike, and make sure to bring a hat because a lot of the trail after the waterfall is direct sunlight, no shade.

Combined with the steep incline, it was just slow going but no special gear was necessary. It's always the downhill with these conditions that get me, but I didn't fall this time. Yes, it is steep in parts but there were enough not so steep parts for you to catch your breath. With the sunny weather and a less hazy day, I was treated to a beautiful view of Provo, Utah Lake and all the surrounding mountains dusted with fresh snow. Squaw Peak isn't the steepest hike I've done in my life, but it was pretty steep! (Not steeper than the Y...don't worry.) The first bit of the trail is a gradual incline on the thicker paths of Rock Canyon Trail. After hiking on Rock Canyon Trail for a while, you turn left onto a smaller, poorly marked trail. This is Squaw Peak Trail! It is steeper, narrower, and more secluded than Rock Canyon trail. There are parts of the trail that are pretty easy to walk through, and there are other parts that are suuuper steep. It sounds tough, but anyone who is in average shape should be able to do it just fine. 2. The entire hike is gorgeous! The view from the bottom is pretty as you look up to the jagged-looking rocks. Then, the trail is pretty as it runs through densely packed trees and other plants. THEN, the view from the top is amazing!!!! On one side you can see the trees growing on the side of the mountain, and on the other side you can see the entire Utah Valley -- all the way from the point of the mountain in Lehi until far south of Provo! It is such a beautiful view. And there are beautiful, blooming flowers and plants covering the top of the mountain. 3. The ENTIRE hike, my head was getting swarmed by bees and flies. I had used fragrant dry shampoo and was wearing scented lotion, and it must have attracted them, because they would not leave me alone! I wish I had brought bug spray! We also saw a snake. It was actually huge. I heard something moving and looked near my feet and saw a thick, long, black and yellow snake right next to my feet!!!! I was sort of freaking out, but it ended up being okay. I looked it up after, and I think it might have been a kingsnake, which is non-venomous. #Phew! We also had someone warn us on our way up that they recently saw a rattlesnake on the path. So watch where you step, and stay on the trail! It took me and my cousin about 2.25 hours to hike to the top and 1.25 to hike to the bottom. I would give yourself at least 4 hours total to do this hike so you have enough time to enjoy the views at the top! It's worth it!
