The results have been ok but I really wanted my hair to look great - not just "ok". So, I've been gathering up the nerve to go back to a professional, hoping to achieve my desired results. I went to see Michelle at Redemption Salon who was very highly recommended for highlights/lowlights and I'll admit I was a bit apprehensive, given my last few visits at other salons. I showed Michelle a photo of the results I was hoping for, and much to my delight, she did an amazing job. I left the salon feeling so great about my new hair that I didn't even mind the hour drive home from Abbotsford. A huge thank you to Michelle for doing such a great job! Also, I was thrilled to learn that by checking in on Yelp, this earned me a 20% discount off my service. So happy!!

I have two fingers that were filed to the point where the skin is cut and they HURT! Plus the gel nails look like a hot mess (bubbles, messy, un-filed, not done all the way up to the cuticle). Waxing was a whole other nightmare. I wanted a simple bikini wax and left bleeding with a bruise and wax left down there. I shouldn't have to go home and finish your job that I had to pay you for. Plus the room was not organized or prepared, or big enough. They want you to take your pants off but then you are laying there on the bed with nothing to cover you when they come in?? I had to use my hoodie. When the same girl does your nails and waxing, beware.

As I was explaining to him what a barber shop should look like I see a sign for Phil's Barber Shop. We parked on the street and walked in....the shop is at the end of a small shopping center.. when I say small I mean tiny... none the less it is probably the most interesting place there. We showed up with only 1 person ahead of us and another in the chair finishing up. There are two chairs but we found out Phil is doing this solo. After about 20 min wait my son went first...it was great... Phil managed to keep him engaged in a conversation about school. In no time it was over and my son asked for lightning bolts.......and he got em!! By the time I got to the chair there were 2 more people in the waiting room and the fun has begun... everyone knew eachother and the no started flying and a fun conversation was had, soft enough for a 7 year old too... in fact mostly about being a kid again. Phil did a great job on both of us, and we enjoyed the real barber experience! Will definitely make this a regular occurrence at Phil's.
