For the family reunion we ordered his yardbird smoked chicken, and his pulled pork. The sides were his mac n cheese, potato salad, and baked beans. Where do I begin... I called up Still Smokin bbq a few weeks ago to discuss prices for a Kentucky Derby party I was hosting at my house. Ramon was very detailed and friendly discussing the options of bbq meats and sides to choose from for my party of 50. We settled on the potato salad, baked beans, chicken, and pork ribs. My partner and I are huge fans of BBQ. He grew up near Memphis, TN (home of some of the best BBQ around), so he's not easy to impress. Having lived with my partner for more than 10 years, I've been spoiled by some amazing BBQ and traditional Southern cooking. A few years ago, we nearly made ourselves sick eating BBQ at a place on Beale Street in Memphis. So, the bar is pretty high. We had Still Smok'n BBQ at a neighborhood fundraiser for ALS, and we were both impressed. Quoting my partner, "The chicken was thoroughly cooked, but still tender, like it was slow-cooked at home instead of the flash-cooked, charred stuff you get at some BBQ joints. And the sauce tasted like the BBQ sauce I grew up on." Four stars only because we didn't get to taste his other offerings...but I am definitely a fan!! Now, I do want to comment on Suzanne's review regarding poor customer service. The gentleman I spoke to at the fundraiser (Ramone) was exceedingly friendly. I cannot imagine him being rude to anyone, so please take her complaints with a grain of salt. My intuition tells me that she is difficult to please. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. OMG, This guy will hook you up with the best tasting BBQ ever! I needed a memorial service catered within less than a week. This guy "Ramon" came through with an AAA+ from myself, my family and our guests. The minute he pulled out the chicken our mouths just watered by the smell. AWESOME Food!!! We had Pulled Piggy, Crazy Chicken, Cole Slaw, Ginger Rice, Pork Beans, Ceasar salad and rolls. He made so much we were giving it away for people to take home.
