I have a thing for costume jewelry and they have a lot of it. They have clothes, coats, jackets, shoes, a few books, jewelry, and odds and ends. At $2 I have not found any good designer high end pieces but it is fun just to look and see what you discover. She was excited to tell me more when I asked at checked out too. I was the only customer in the store during my visit and I appreciate that she didn't stalk me or bother me while I was shopping. The store was originally located in Beech Grove for 8 years, but the owner is from Morristown and hated driving so far, so she eventually relocated it closer to her. I'm giving 3 stars because it's one of the most disorganized thrift stores I've been in. There is next to no organization. The racks are labeled with sizes, but I always found lots of other sizes mixed in. And clothing is not separated by category. There's 3-4 racks of each size spread all throughout the store and each rack has anything from swimsuits to dresses to jackets on it. When I was greeted, she said "it's a treasure hunt". It was definitely a hunt trying to sort through the mess. The lighting is dim, there were at least two larger rooms not being used for merchandise and a large section in the middle of the main room closed off housing misc appliances. They have one fitting room that is literally a closet with a mirror. I think they would do a lot better if they organized the items better. Most people don't like digging through stuff...even for $2 items. She also said they take donations, but they've only had 5 since being at this location. They prices are extremely affordable and they also carry children's clothing which most boutiques I've been to don't have. I really enjoyed their selection of graphic tees. I'm a graphic tee addict and was able to siphon through a huge couple of boxes they hadn't put out on the store shelf yet. It made me feel like a VIP when the store owner offered me those boxes. I also really enjoyed their huge selection of leggings. And their sale rack left me going home with some dresses I never thought I'd wear. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they always have to text the owner to find out the price of something because it isn't marked. Most of their prices are affordable and they have a sweet little clearance room where just about everything is $12.99. I found the cutest dress today for just $12.99!!! I couldn't believe it. The employees are always really sweet and helpful and I love the owners photography posted throughout the store. She also gives 10% of her proceeds to charities around the community. She continue to badger me grab the vacuum bags out of my hand and then grab the cart out of my hand and told me to get out I said I'll would like to make a donation to the homeless because she kept mentioning how the money goes to the homeless. I never felt so belittled in my life. I googled it but I'm not sure if it's right but it says it's battery if someone grabs something out of your hand so if that's true she shouldn't have grab the bags and the cart. As far as the homeless go if it wasn't a man I would have invited him into my house on them very extreme cold days we had but I'm a single woman that lives by myself. The clerk was busy with customers when I entered. A couple rooms were filled with antiques and locally made goods. I saw a couple things that I wanted, but they were a bit pricy for me (though probably reasonable for the quality). It was fun to look even though I left empty handed. I found street parking a block north and walked.

Fren Chic is a cute shop that sells antiques and gifts that is located in an area with lots of cute…read moreshops. We stopped by yesterday because the town was having a special Christmas openhouse. Despite being crowded with shoppers, the clerks were welcoming and friendly. They carry assorted antiques, vintage items, scents/candles and more. Currently, they are decorated for Christmas with a lot of holiday merchandise. There is an upstairs with rooms filled with assorted vintage items. I confess that I was on sensory overload with all the customers, smells of cider and merchandise. The shop was a little tight and I will probably go back at a time when they are less crowded. We parked around the block and walked. There are steps, I'm not sure if the upstairs is accessible.

I found some really cute items and I was particularly drawn to the Gather Home: Home Goods & Gifts section. I ended up buying more than a few items but was really happy with my purchase. The lady at the counter was very sweet and friendly. She had a good aura about her. Overall, they have some really cute items for gift-giving. I especially loved the gift bags I purchased for future gifts to put inside them. So cute!

Apparently, the origin story of The Gilded Nest is that it started as a Christian bookstore. After…read morea while, the owner thought that if she changed it to a Christian bookstore AND a home decor and handcrafted goods store, the store would attract more customers. That seems like some 4D chess right there, and good business sense. I can imagine more people would want to visit a home goods store than they would a Christian bookstore, but I could be wrong. That said, there's still a Christian bookstore in the back of the store, with all sorts of nonfiction and fiction texts. (Even Christian romance books! Sizzling.) The rest of the store is home decor, candles, signs, dish towels, art supplies, greeting cards, artificial flowers, vintage pieces, and handmade jewelry and art from local artists. It's a mishmash of all kinds of things, and everything is arranged just so, and the whole store is pleasing to walk through. It also smells nice because of all the candles. The Gilded Nest also offers art classes and creative workshops, like flower arranging. They have a little art studio in a corner. This is a store that my mom would have loved. She liked to decorate her house with hand-painted signs with Bible verses on them, chalk-painted shabby chic furniture and cute little trinkets. As soon as I walked into the store, I was like, "Oh man! I wish my mom could be here! She would appreciate this." Most of the store is not my style at all, but I liked walking around and looking at all of the things and thinking about what my mom might have bought. There are lots of things here, and it's a great place to browse and maybe pick up a gift or two.
