But when you find it, you'll see that these cats have a lotta good stuff. Mostly, you will find streetwear and novelty t-shirts and accessories at Naptown Thrift. Shirts run the gamut from band t-shirts, Mickey Mouse, sports, hobbies and other things. Have you been looking for a shirt that says, "It's five o'clock somewhere?" Do you need a hoodie that shows your undying love for Dayton Beach? Or maybe a ball cap with a black Labrador Retriever on it? This is the place for you. Speaking of ball caps, you'll also find lots of hats and caps, Indiana artwork for sale, posters, denim (both shorts and long pants), jackets and lots more. This thrift store skews toward the adult male, which is fine by me. I feel like we need more good vintage stores for the dudes around here. Dudes need places to find sick threads. The proprietor was friendly and engaging. He even suggested a few other nearby shops for us to check out. Several walls were filled with vintage local sport art. Colorful team hats hung from the ceiling. This is definitely a man cave dream shop. Racks were filled with vintage logo jackets, tee shirts and other sports wear. The place is really interesting. I didn't buy anything as I was really looking for houseware and I don't have a man cave. Parking is plentiful in the strip mall lot.

So the money from your purchases, as well as your donations, all go toward a great cause. This new thrift store is so clean and organized. Probably 75% of the store is clothing, shoes and accessories, but they also have a great selection of used books, DVDs, and even cassette tapes and VHS for the old heads. The prices are amazing. One of my kids bought a board game for $2, and the other found a Wii game for $3. There are lots of quality home goods and kitchen stuff, too. Nothing is junky -- you can tell that they are discerning about the items that they choose to display in the store. I visited the store on its second day of being open, and I noticed that it didn't have a sign out front yet. It's still early days for the store, though, so I'm sure they'll put a sign out at some point. In the meantime, just look for the banner that says "grand opening."

Wheeler is a much better place to donate than Goodwill because they value what you donate and treat…read moreyour items with respect. They do not run big outlet locations like Goodwill where they dump donations in huge bins for people to root through and damage. You can drop off items behind their store, or in off hours bring them into the store. They so not spend tons of money on fancy TV commercials and fancy stores. Their profits go to directly serve homeless people and those with substance addiction problems. I personally know one of the people they helped to turn their life around. Please make the little extra effort to go to their thrift store which is east of the super Walmart on 96th to shop and donate. Help this small organizarion continue to do good work in our community.

The Wheeler Mission Store is one of my go-to thrifting spots. Is it the cheapest? Naw. Is it…read moreclean and well organized and have a good variety of things to choose from? YES! This location is on the same side of the road as the Walmart and in the same plaza as the Petco, Platos, and the Autoparts store. The staff are super nice and there are a lot of volunteers walking around as well. I have found several things that are new with tags (priced accordingly), tons of name-brand goods, and there is rarely that funky thrifted smell that permeates everything you get from the WMS. They have everything from clothes to furniture/household goods to really nice jigsaw puzzles. Everything is super easy to find. Prices here at the Mission Store are a little higher than places like Goodwill, but every purchase supports the Wheeler Mission by providing meals and funding for training to their residents. There are also hand-made candles and other wares that the residents make while staying at Wheeler for purchase. Once while shopping I noticed it was busier than normal and the associate explained that they allow Wheeler residents to come and shop for what they need to get back on their feet. COOL!

She continue to badger me grab the vacuum bags out of my hand and then grab the cart out of my hand and told me to get out I said I'll would like to make a donation to the homeless because she kept mentioning how the money goes to the homeless. I never felt so belittled in my life. I googled it but I'm not sure if it's right but it says it's battery if someone grabs something out of your hand so if that's true she shouldn't have grab the bags and the cart. As far as the homeless go if it wasn't a man I would have invited him into my house on them very extreme cold days we had but I'm a single woman that lives by myself. Cute little thrift shop in downtown beech grove. They were open for first Friday for the first time…read morethe first of august. They underwent recent renovations and the store looks fresher and less crowded. They have a separate building for additional furniture and rugs as well as a clearance area outside (covered) for gardening supplies, office furniture, and various other items. I've always liked this place and check it before paying full retail price for things I might get from Lowes or Home Depot.
