I came into the shop looking for Fray Check, which they didn't have. For probably the best reason…read morethat if you properly sew your clothes, you don't need to worry about fray. One of the clerks looked it up for me at Walmart, even gave me the aisle number. All of this was wonderful, but the real reason for the review would be their lovely fabrics. I am the least skilled seamstress that ever existed. I gave up sewing long ago. If someone would have put effort into selling me something, I'd be the fool who'd buy something beautiful to turn it into a three car collision. The most beautiful fabrics.

I am a sucker for a locally owned / specialty type quilt shop and have been meaning to get in to…read morethe French Seam for a while - but they were never open when I tried! I totally understand that Covid has forced us a lot of businesses to adjust their hours and the way they run - and the French Seam was no exception. Luckily, I had a day off work recently and was able to get in on a weekday during their limited business hours. Let me just say this - they have some gorgeous fabrics. Quilting cottons are separated from the garment fabrics in the small front area and they have a few notions available. I love being able to look through pre-cuts and they had a good selection of fat quarters organized by color in rolling carts available for purchase. I was also told that there was a 'clearance' area in the back/warehouse type area - so I made a break for it (you had me at clearance!). Back there I was able to score a package of fat quarters for $3 (I was told it was because they were 'old' fabrics - but who cares?) and some other pre-cut yardage at a discount. SCORE! Back in the open 'warehouse' type area also appears to be where machines are located and perhaps where classes would be held (pre/post Covid). Of note, I think I may have thrown off the older, more conservative appearing lady working in the store with my appearance when I walked in, but the younger gal working the counter was very sweet. Overall, I was excited for my new-to-me fabrics to add to my stash and glad I got to check the place out as it is SUPER close to where I live.

I was working on a vintage bag and one of the designers helped me pick the perfect fabric for it. Everyone was really helpful and I will definitely be going back.

Despite being held in their back warehouse, everything was clean and organized, and the staff were very helpful in getting my things weighed and loaded in to my vehicle. The "Zero Landfill" event is designed to put materials donated by local area designers, dealerships, businesses, and sales reps in to the hands of crafters, collectors, artists, etc. to upcycle and/or repurpose discontinued or unused samples of various mediums. Offerings included things such as flooring, framing materials, tiles, and all kinds of fabric - all free. At the end, they weigh your haul and tell you how many pounds of materials you saved from the landfill. I am very pleased with my 120 pounds of velvet squares, curtain panels, carpet squares, and various other goodies that I was able to score. Being a curator of textiles, this event was right up my alley. To hear that almost 12,000 pounds of materials were saved from the landfill just at this event was awesome. I cannot wait to make upcycled pillow covers, table cloths, and who knows what else with my new-to-me beauties!

Several weeks passed and I did not receive my order, or notification that it had been shipped, although my credit card had been charged. I contacted the owner and she assured me it was in the mail. She was very prompt in her reply to my messaging. I did in fact receive my order and she refunded my money to me for the inconvenience of the delay and my concerns. She also gifted me a beautiful fat quarter in my package. Very Happy Ending! Even though the store is closing, I would recommend online shopping with the Yellow Door Quilt Store. Very nice and professional owner! Thank you, Yellow Door Quilt Store!

I put in a $300 order on March 25th and didn't get an order confirmation email. However, the funds showed as pending on my credit card. I still hadn't heard anything on March 27th, so I reached out to Yellow Door Quilt Store on Facebook Messenger. Received a one word reply: Monday. I messaged again at the end of Wednesday telling them if I didn't hear from them by end of day Thursday, I was filing a dispute with my credit card. Crickets. Thursday afternoon, today, I saw that they had seen my message in Messenger, and asked, No reply? They immediately responded saying they didn't have the inventory and had cancelled the transaction so no dispute was necessary. I looked at my CC and sure enough, it had been refunded the day previous. I asked why they had said they were shipping Monday, and they answered that they were going to CHECK on Monday, and apologized for not telling me Tuesday that they didn't have the inventory. Before entering, know cats and dogs are wandering freely if you're scared of either or have an allergy. I enjoyed visiting with both as we love animals, but again, we have no allergic issues. Don't let the stairs deter you from visiting as a ramp is located to the left of the stairs. It is slightly steep but manageable for most. You are entering two floors of gorgeous country, farmhouse, and primitive decor. Every inch of the two floors is staged beautifully. Most of the items sold have wonderful displays of how to use the merchandise. Wonderful ideas, and if you have any questions, just ask for assistance. The owner, I'm assuming, was friendly and answered all my questions. She allowed us to wander at our pace and not be underfoot. I was only capable of browsing the main floor today, but I do plan on returning to tackle the second floor stairs on May 6th. I love 95% of every display I saw. The merchandise is lovely, good quality, and makes an instant impact on your decor. Regardless of your decor, you'll most likely find something you can add to your home. I'm excited to return this weekend for the Spring Market at Take Root. If you're looking for something to do, stop by the Southside and check out Take Root and Abby's Closet (next door).
