I would give zero stars if I could! Sue butchered my wedding dress! Do NOT go to Sue unless you want to be yelled at or have you imperfections pointed out to you. With the cost to get my dress back from Sue and to fix what she had done, I'm spending more than what my dress originally cost! I asked Sue to give me my $ back or I will have top take her to court because the dress didn't even fit, she said, "no. I'll see you in court". $500 for her to butcher my dress! At my new alterations place I spoke with another women that said she too had conflicts with Sue. The woman took her mother's dress to Sue's Alterations to have Sue alter it to fit her, and was told that she was too fat and was better off getting a new dress, that the task was impossible. The woman left crying Sue's aaannnnd is now elsewhere having the "impossible" done. Please, do yourself a favor and don't even consider Sue's Alterations! I will add pictures after my wedding. Sue's Alterations was incredibly accommodating to me. I found my wedding dress at the last minute (less than a month from the big day) and they were able to get my dress fitted in no time!! I was even turned away from other places due to the material being difficult to work with, as it was all sequins. But Sue's had no issue whatsoever! She even made suggestions for me to make the dress fit perfectly, and added a slit. At my try on I decided I wanted the slit a little higher and she made that happen in just a couple of days! Then stayed past closing for me to pick up my dress right before the wedding! She even steamed it for me, and I did not have shoes yet, and she made it just the right length so that I could add a little bit of heel. This place was awesome! Took my wedding gown here for alterations. $400 later my dress was cut too short and along the bottom flowers were cut in half. Bust line was extremely too high, also refused to sew in padding. My straps were basically cut in half and overlapped which is what caused my bust line to be too high. I am far from a "bridezilla" but this absolutely broke my heart. This was my wedding gown. Not just any dress. I Ended up taking to another alterations place where she fixed my bust. Meanwhile Sue refused to refund money, or even pay for the additional alterations. So not only was I out $400 but an additional $150 to have her mistakes fixed. My mother used her several times prior and unfortunately this was my first and last time using her. read more

I went to Sue to get my wedding altered and to get a bustle. She gave me a date for when the dress was going to be ready and when I called her on the phone to go pick up my wedding dress she did NOT Remember who I was and did NOT Remember that my dress was supposed to be done that day. She then tells me to pick it at the end of the day and when I went to pick it up she had done a poor job and my dress did not fit well. It seemed like she had rushed to get it done and that she had forgotten to work on it. The dress was supposed to be taken in at the breasts but the sewing wasn't done right so my dress ended up with like a bubble or folding under my left breast. It felt uneven. My bustle broke easily the day of my wedding. She is very unprofessional. I do not recommend her and will not work with her ever again. read more

I love Sue! She did an amazing job on my wedding dress last year. The belt was quite difficult to sew onto the dress and she did a fabulous job. 1st time at Sue's Alterations. Sue was very sweet at first however at the beginning she made it very clear that she should be the only one talking. I wasn't even able to get a word in. So I zipped my lips and let her pin me. When she asked me what I thought, I looked in the mirror for a few seconds and all of sudden she starts yelling at me out of no where, "If you dont like it, then you can leave and go somewhere else." I hadn't even said one word. I was just looking at the dress. I understand what direct is. My entire family is direct. Trust me, I have a thick skin but she was too prideful and rude. It was a major turn off. I also told her I wanted to bring a family member in to see, and she told me that my family member would be a pain. Im sure she's very good at what she does, but you cannot gain new customers with the experience like I had. read more

This place gets one star, just so this review could be published, otherwise I would give zero stars. First off, I am so glad that the happy brides and customer that have great reviews had a positive experience. However, not only is Sue "to the point" as one customer said, but she is very condescending and rude. I thought, surely I will have a decent customer experience...I am the nicest, nicest person....No. I requested Sue to pin up a dress hem for me (a temporary fix for a beautiful rent the runway dress) and I would pay (since I realize it is not a full alteration)...not only did she explain to me that she couldn't hem up the dress (three times, after I asked her not to cut and sew and hem up the dress, but that she/they only pin it, like they do when a person tries on their dress to get altered), but she raised her voice quite loudly and unprofessionally, asked her assistant if it was something she could do and then answered for her that no, they wouldn't do it. I said "thank you" and left that place -- what an awkward silence afterward in that room with me, her, her assistant, and the other gentleman in there, as I sewed up my dress bag and collected my things. Please, please don't waste your time walking in the door here to be talked to and belittled for bringing such an unworthy task. If they didn't have time for it, that's fine. (That's exactly what one other seamstress said on the phone when I called around for an alterations place). I should have listened to the reviews on here but I thought that since I am so friendly and way more nice than people deserve, maybe...maybe most likely not. Enter at your own risk. Read the other reviews. Or instead go to Main Street Alterations. The lady in there was so sweet and pinned up my dress perfectly for our event that night. read more

I was a little disappointed with the price. $95 just to hem 2 layers & to shorten the straps on my bridesmaid dress. My husband's pants needed hemmed as well & that was only $15 which was so much more reasonable. Sue was nice, but for that price I will not be going there again. read more

She was fantastic to work with when I needed my bridesmaid dress altered. The dress was about a foot too long and she hemmed it. After I got it back and talked to the other bridesmaids, they decided they were all going to go a bit shorter. I called Sue and she told me to come back. Although she has good skills and offers relatively cheap price, we found it's really hard to communicate with her, partly due to her poor English and partly due to her sharp personality. We almost had a fight with her. She misunderstood us due to her poor English and got mad. She even asked us to get out of her house. OMG. It was absolutely the WORST ever experience I ever had. Never met anyone dealing with customer like this. No respect at all. She just refused to listen and reluctant to make changes. read more

Sue was great. I had a very loose fitting bridesmaid dress that needed taken in quite a bit. She had the idea to Velcro it. It was going to save me tons of money and be easier to get in and out of. She was very well priced and there's no doubt I'll be back. read more

Sue put a hem in a couple pairs of jeans for my daughter and she needed them taken in at the waist. She had them done in a couple of days. While putting them on she broke the belt loop and Sue fixed it before we left!! I will go to her again. read more

Unbelievably disappointed with this place. I went in for an appointment to alter my wedding dress. I asked was if she could accomplish a V-neck line for my dress and she was very rude to me. She scoffed at me and treated me like I was a spoiled, entitled little brat. I was never anything but friendly and asked questions to try to understand better why it wasn't possible and every response was rude and hateful. She claimed to be the best in Greenwood, as she went on to trash talk different seamstresses in the city, and said it's not possible, NO ONE will do that for you. She threw her hands up and said that I didn't know what I wanted as she walked away, said I should just get a new dress because she could NOT do it and no one else would. She was extremely rude, the way she treated me was unacceptable. So I went to go change back into my clothes and she opened up the curtain while I was naked to exclaim more about how I was just ridiculous and wouldn't find anyone to do it, I just kept saying that I was changing, completely in awe that she would do that, and she wouldn't even listen to me, just kept arguing at me. Which was even more unacceptable and disrespectful. I will never go back there again. She could have told me she wouldn't be able to do it in a completely different manner and I wouldn't have been so upset, but to be treated like that is ludacris. After being treated like that and being told basically that I'm being ridiculous and it's absolutely not possible, I went to Fena Alterations on 135 in Greenwood and she treated me very respectfully and had absolutely no questions about anything I asked her to do to my dress!! read more

Sue is amazing! She is quick but meticulous. I researched all recommended seamstresses to take my wedding dress before deciding on Sue. My dress has a scalloped lace bottom and you cannot even tell it was hemmed. Not to mention she was the best price around. The only thing is you have to appreciate her honesty and bluntness, which I do! I even sent two of my bridesmaids to her. We did have an issue that another bride walked off with my slip and would not return it, despite Sue's efforts. Sue rectified the situation with $50 off and also doing the required work to mimic the missing slip free of charge. I will trust her with all of my alterations as long as she continues with her work. The only downside is that she ONLY accepts cash, but since she is a small business owner, I understand it. Cards have fees each time you swipe and with some wedding alterations being hundreds of dollars, checks can bounce. read more
