I have been to this shop twice in the past two years and both times had fairly unpleasant experiences. They seem to be the type of old-school needlepoint shop that only cares to cater to women in their 60s and up. Most recently I entered and was told "we'll be with you in 10 minutes," despite there being 4 women working. I didn't need their assistance shopping so I didn't mind much, but it was definitely an odd greeting. Their thread selection is severely lacking, and the store is so crowded and impossible to navigate that I felt physically uncomfortable. Finally I waited probably 5-10 minutes in front of a woman at the register who was doing god knows what before another woman noticed me. This took 3x as long as it should have because they have no computer system, all receipts are written by hand, which is absolutely ridiculous in 2022. Overall they are not very friendly and the customer experience is rather unpleasant, so moving forward I will stick with Lycette in Palm Beach when I am in south florida. read more

My mom went in while I parked. It's a happening location and fun to walk around. My mom was looking for yarn to knit with. The WONDERFUL PEOPLE in this store STITCHES BY THE SEA, gave my mom a business card to a yarn store 3 cities away. So very nice and thoughtful. I don't know if the stores know each other or not, the vibe they put out there made me what to do something nice for them, hence a Yelp review. I found the sales lady rude and obnoxious.She also lifted her shirt to show off her new breasts. (just disgusting). She did not pay attention to what she wrote on order sheet. My pillow was done incorrectly which was extremely upsetting. Beside that date date promised did not happen till 2 months later. Parking is horrible there sales lady told me to buy something at chicos then walk across the street to the store. They would not refund my money for the improper work they did. read more

I have been consistently disappointed by this store. If you are well versed in a wide variety of needle point techniques and enjoy creating your own samplers/designs this is not the place for you. They do not carry any supplies for transferring your own designs onto canvas, nor do they carry any supplies for crewel embroidery or ribbon embroidery if you are looking to incorporate either of those into your design. If you are looking for a 'kit' type of feel using cotton / silk floss this is the place for you as they have a wide variety of pre-made designs painted on canvas and a wide variety of cotton floss. read more

I had the worst experience with this needlepoint shop. They lost a box that I paid them to finish. They did not seem concerned. One of the employees stated " it's only needlepoint, get over it." Still months later trying to get my money back. Do not use if you care about the hours that you put into your projects. Saddest part is they do not care. read more

I have tried to use this shop several times but no luck. I am an extremely experienced stitcher who knows what they want and knows what they are doing. Those of us who stitch are part of a big sisterhood (with some guys allowed) and it is generally a very warm and friendly environment. It did not get this feeling about this shop. The project I was looking to get was a "bucket list" project that will cost close to $1,000 when all is said and done. When someone is asking about a project of this size the least you can do is be friendly. After doing my research I made my major purchase from a shop in Orlando, who has been a delight to work with. Crazy, I know, when faced with working via message and phone vs a shop 35 minutes away, I chose the prior. read more

I want to respond to the review by Kathy W. I happened to have been in the store the day that she came in. I was with a friend who was there buying her first project and Karen couldn't have been more helpful. Kathy came in with a graphed out image of the project she wanted to do. Trouble was it wasn't her own design. It was an image from a canvas that they stock. Karen tried to do the right thing and although that meant telling Kathy that she couldn't help her, she also has a responsibility to the designers that she deals with. They have canvases there with their own designs so they have respect for the creative process. I have no doubt that if Kathy came in and was creating her own canvas with her own original design Karen would have been more than happy to help. read more

I had a very pleasant experience at this store. I had bought a canvas when I was out of town but wasn't happy with the yarns the owner sold me. Carol was so patient suggesting better yarn choices from the vast varieties the store provides and I am very happy working with them. Excited to find a local store, I couldn't wait to go in and buy the supplies i needed for a new project i was starting. Upon entering I was completely disregarded by the staff and was left to wander by myself despite clearly needing help. Once I finally received someone's attention, the sales lady was unbelievably rude and disrespectful. Making sure the entire store heard her, she "absolutely refused to help me". I was planning on creating my own canvas, from my own design, but because I wasn't buying a canvas from them, she had no interest in assisting. At first I thought she was joking but then she shoved my design back towards me and abruptly turned her back to help another customer. In complete shock, I walked out and took my business elsewhere. This staff member's behavior was completely unprofessional and by the looks of the other reviews, isn't the first time she has treated customers like garbage. read more

Such a FABULOUS place. They have a great assortment of canvasses of all different sizes and designs and a wonderful group of women ready to help you pick threads. What I liked most is their willingness to give you their strong opinion, and then their willingness to listen to my point of view when it differed from theirs. Ok. I know this corner of the world is sun and fun but sometimes a girl needs a break. Gorgeous needlepoint and knitting shop. I needed some knitting needles ( my original project gave me a head ache) and I apologize but I don't know the name of the woman who helped me. She made sure I swatched and the correct needle size was found. Very, very pleasant and introduced me to the continental style of knitting. I did browse through the needle point and I am kicking myself that I didn't purchase one. I am also kicking myself that I didn't buy the hand painted yarn but hey, I am still working on my knitting chops. :) brave the traffic and take a look! read more

Very disappointed by the customer service. This store claims that you can exchange unused yarn for store credit. When I tried to do that with an unused skein of yarn, they would not honor their policy. They were haughty and nasty. I will not be returning!! read more

Very very disappointed! Walked into the store at 10:25 am. Sign on the door said " opened" gentleman was very rude! Practically kicked me out. I'm from out of town and didn't know that the opened sign actually meant "closed" . Went to the other LYS ( local yarn shop ). Glad I did! Very welcoming, kind, and helpful . Spent a boat load on yarn ect. Too bad Stitches by the Sea. You missed out on a great customer. read more
