This second location is only a couple of weeks old and I already like the vibe. There are long tables and a bench - I love the possibility of conversations when people sit at shared long tables!! The walls are still bare, and I suspect it's just a matter of time for some inspired art to show up. About the main event, coffee, the same focus on excellence followed to the second location. Come here for great coffee and excellent service! Shawn mentioned that they will be a rotation of cookies that are baked onsite - I am excited to come back to see that. They only have one location in Toronto but they have about 3 in Montreal. They offer a lot of options in terms of bagged coffee and there's plenty of seating and tables on the second floor. It's on the northwest corner of Midland and Ellesmere. Two Saturdays ago, I was driving up from running errands at Warden and Eglinton. I was thirsty. I needed a beverage. I decided to check out this cafe. If you are going southbound along Midland, it's a breeze to turn right to get to this Starbucks. I was going in the opposite direction. I ended up turning left to go into some business's parking lot, came right out, and then drove into the Starbucks drive-thru. There was a bit of a lineup. The wait wasn't horrible. I ordered a grande iced peach green tea. The woman on the other end was so nice and friendly. The way that she spoke made me think that she was an English major or an actress. Her phrasing and articulation were impressive, which I frankly don't expect from a barista at any cafe! I pulled up to the window and had this nice barista scan the barcode on my Starbucks app. I grabbed my drink out and she wished me a pleasant weekend. I reciprocated and drove away. I exited onto Ellesmere Road. I turned up Kennedy Road and headed home, sipping my drink the entire time. I loved iced peach green tea. It was perfect. It quenched my thirst. I was a happy camper. Although this cafe has odd entrance and exit setups, I had a great experience. If you are a public transit person, this cafe is steps away from Ellesmere station along the Scarborough LRT (Light Rapid Transit) line. DRINKS (4.5/5) Bangkok Bubble Float (4/5). Tasted more like a bubble tea drink than a standard coffee drink. Very prominent thai tea flavour with extra nuttiness from the espresso. The hazelnut cold foam and tapioca are tasty additions that make the drink feel more like a dessert. Taro Noir Glaze (3/5). This drink didn't taste as cohesive as the others but brought forward very potent black sesame flavour mixed with coffee. The taro didn't feel particularly present or elevating of the drink. Didn't taste bad, just nothing wow. AMBIENCE (4.5/5) Really nicely decorsted space with high ceilings and warm tone and wooden fixtures. Seating is quite limited so will dock points for that. VALUE (4/5) Good quality coffee drinks handcrafted with care. The signature drinks are good balance of experimental and classic which makes for enjoyable concotions. I think the expertise and ingredient quality justifies the price points. LOCATION (3/5) Located in the newer plaza at SE corner of Kennedy and Mcnicoll. There's a parking lot with lots of parking available. Transitable via bus. OVERALL (4/5) The staff are clearly dedicated in crafting unique experimental drinks or high quality brews. I highly recommend AM Coffee Lab over the other coffeeshops in this plaza (particularly Ronin). AM Coffee Lab frequently rotates their menu and is worth visiting every so often. I'll def be back soon to try their Fall menu and pourover options
