When I did my new patient paperwork online prior to the appointment, I entered "Princess Nycole" into the preferred name field to see if they'd notice. They did, and we all had a good laugh. They gave me a high dose which left me with the worst scarring and hyper pigmentation. I was then prescribed accutane. It didn't work at all and I had the worst symptoms imaginable (constant bleeding, three nose bleeds a day, constipation, horrific joint pain, swollen eyes,etc.) Everytime I brought up my concerns and the fact that it wasn't even clearing up my acne, I was told to "just keep taking it". After 9 months of hell, they prescribed me another round of accutane. I was done and my acne never improved.

Dr. Schmidt's an absolute gem, an exemplary example of the profession. Too often doctors talk at you, rather than to you, but he took the time to explain what was going on, gave me some options and treated the issue well. No waiting time, once you'd had your temperature taken it was into the treatment room and his very professional assistant took down details and dealt with the inevitable paperwork Hygiene is strict here - as you'd hope - and every visit went very smoothly and efficiently, without the feeling of being rushed. Over three visits he sorted the issue out in a way that won't leave a scar, kept the atmosphere light but informative, and called up out of hours with test results. Plus - how can you not like a doctor who examines a wound and says "Wow, you're healing like Wolverine!"

At Smart Skin Dermatology the receptionists and medical staff are all very warm and friendly while also providing excellent medical care/customer service. At the U's clinics when I tried this the provider looked visually annoyed and would give the equivalent of one word responses. We scheduled me for isolated radiation therapy. After 10 weeks, my treatment is over except for a final scan in another 7 weeks. As it is, my skin cancer is gone!
