I've been here once for lunch and so far so good. We ordered the Hot stone Bibimbap and it was good. The rice is crispy if you let it sit on the bottom which is an evidence of a good bibimbap. Price is reasonable. You order and pay first before you sit down. You also help yourself to water and drinks before you order. Therefore, it's a no frills service. Overall, descent food and will come back again.

#1 Bul-Go-ki on the regular lunch menu. Really good.

Previous posts are correct...you can easily walk past this place and totally miss out on a good meal. Had the #1 Bul-Go-ki off the regular lunch menu. It was very tasty lunch plate, and priced right for what you get. Don't pass it by...

I am amazed. I like this place. Definitely in a good location but not too central central downtown where it gets so busy during lunch time. I went on Yelp to look for Korean food and this place popped up. It was 10 mins from work. But I don't mind walking. Menu is quite limited. But I guess they only serve what they are good at. I got the beef bi-bim-bap and I have to say" Portion size was good Ingredients fresh Price very reasonable. Tasted very yummy. The stone bowl had couple of meat options: Chicken, Beef, Vegetables only etc and spicy and non spicy. The lunch combo came with soup if you decide to make it a combo for about two dollar more. I like this place. Walked out full. Good service even thought its like food court style.

Spicy pork bowl was amazing. I suggest to eat in as the dishes are much better as it gets served in a traditional Korean hot stone bowl. Then atmosphere is very "meh" but the food is great for a quick meal. A++

Personally one of my favourite casual lunch places to go. Menu isn't very big, but they obviously specialize in making bibimbap so it makes sense, and they do a great job making it. Food takes a bit longer but I don't mind waiting. You can see they cook all of their meat when you order it so everything's fresh. Prices/portions are fair and there's usually enough seating even though it gets quite busy at lunch time. If you're in the area I would recommend checking this place out and grabbing some delicious warm bibimbap!

2018.04.17. My friend and I went downtown Calgary. We found the Korean Restaurant right across the street from Calgary Public Library. The name of the restaurant is Stone Bowl Korean Cuisine. It was our first time having food at this place. It's a small Korean Restaurant, located at 615 Macleod Trail SE, Calgary. We arrived the restaurant around 12 pm which was right on their lunchtime. There are many people inside the restaurant. My friend and I have ordered different combos for lunch. I had spicy pork stone bowl with spicy beef soup. My friend ordered beef stone bowl with miso soup. After we ordered the food, we found a table to sit down. The soup came out the kitchen fast, but they were not hot. We waited for our stone bowls for while. They were well cooked and boiling hot. The stone bowls were very tasty and delicious. We enjoyed it. Highly Recommend this place for stone bowls. Do not order their soup. The soup was not hot and fresh

Good Bibimbop, the young man who waited on my could not have been less interested in his job, not as clean as I would have liked.

The exterior of the building appears that it is situated in an old house, which definitely adds to the charm. The staff greeted me an led me to a table on the upper floor. Immediately, I noticed that most parties in here were large and the portions were family style. Definitely something that I wish I had brought friends to and not just come in as a solo diner. However, the staff did not make me feel weird about this at all. I ordered a Lychee Time cocktail and a Rose Rice Cake curry. They brought out an included kimchee plate, which was certainly enough for 4 people. The Rose Rice Cake dish was the same, enough for 2-4 people to share. Both the kimchi and the curry were amazing, I enjoyed both immesely. My only complaint was that my drink was far too sweet, I had to water it down to finish it. When it came time for my inevitable leftovers, the staff had great suggestions for reheating and I was even able to purchase udon to go for the leftovers. Amazing homey experience that I would recommend to anyone in town (preferably with friends!).

My craving must have been intense because I didn't even think about it and started my long walk there. The layout of the restaurant is interesting. The bathroom is in the basement, the first floor is a bit small but has some tables, and the second floor has most of the dining area space. Interior decoration was pretty minimal but there was kpop playing and it was a bit dark in there so if you're looking to get a few drinks and Korean food with some friends, this would be a great spot. When I was sat at my table and I looked through the menu, the first thing that popped in my head was that they had quite an extensive menu. From army stew, bibimbap, bulgogi, and what I decided to get Dakgalbi (marinated chicken bbq). The Dakgalbi was really good and marinated well. I wasn't expecting the fried rice at the end to come with it like in Korea which was also really good. The only critique I have regarding the food is that there weren't that many side dishes (banchan) and the lettuce on the side was an extra $5. Service was on point. Thu and the woman server, I forgot her name, worked well as a team to make sure everyone was taken care of even though they had to walk up and down those stairs probably 10+ times just when I was there.

The inside is also rather small, they seat maybe 7 tables each with 2-4 people per table. There's tons of traditional Korean decorations everywhere. The staff is also all Korean and greet you in Korean. There's unlimited high quality purple bean rice. The sides are nothing to write home about other than the macaroni salad. They had an interesting take on it by adding imitation crab - I'm not sure I liked that part. Otherwise it's similar to the chain BCD tofu. The ever popular seafood pajeon (a pancake-like dish) is made extremely thick and therefore isn't crispy at all like pajeon normally is. I don't really recommend this item. Interestingly there's a bulgogi dish with vegetables and noodles (thin, clear). Makes the dish much more hearty. The flavor and quality was pretty good. Seafood tofu soup. They do a great job of making it spicy if you ask. The flavoring has that umami feel. Overall, not overwhelmingly amazing. A bit on the pricey side. They do have a very wide range of menu items and some pretty authentic items that aren't normally regularly provided in Korean restaurants. Service is fine - didn't meet anyone rude or anyone particularly amazing either.
