My relative entered into negotiations with Artistic Kitchens and Baths. Mr. John Pica personally…read morecame out and provided an initial quote of $7,000 for the work. In good faith, my relative issued him a check for that full amount upfront. At first, they were not looking for a refund. They simply expected Mr. Pica to return and complete the work as agreed. However, after receiving payment, he never came back. Despite waiting a significant amount of time and making multiple calls, no work was started. When finally pressed for answers, Mr. Pica claimed he had purchased materials, but instead of taking responsibility, he behaved as though the delay and lack of work were somehow the customer's problem. When asked for a resolution, he stated he would only return $5,000, keeping $2,000 for his "time," and refused to do anything further. Since then, there has been no response, no phone call, no correspondence, and no refund of any sort. Mr. Pica took the money and disappeared. Shame on him for taking advantage of elderly customers who entered into this agreement in good faith. It is despicable and deplorable that a supposed legitimate businessman would conduct himself in this manner. I strongly advise the public to avoid doing business with Artistic Kitchens and Baths or John Pica. This has been a horrible, dishonest, and predatory experience.

One of the last design changes to the atrociously ugly kitchen I absorbed when buying an apartment…read moretwo years ago was the countertop. I'd gone to some of the Big Box stores and asked for quotes on quartz materials, then determined I'd prefer to use a smaller business owner keeping in-line with my ethos of supporting the little guy as opposed to huge multi-national corporations. Using Yelp's Request-A-Quote feature I found Benchmark. Adam, who seems to run inbound customer leads, was far and away the fastest to reply and the most communicative of the many businesses I considered for my new countertop job. After a few messages back and forth, I was able to pop by the warehouse in New Jersey for a hands on tour to select the right design and get recommendations on styles I hadn't previously considered. The one I settled on was purchased, measured, cut, and installed in under a week. And the price for the quality of stone I received was far better than some of the household brands you might immediately think about when undertaking a renovation of this caliber. If I needed their services again in the future, I'd absolutely do it in a heartbeat. But if you're in the market yourself, be sure you give them a chance at your business before going forward with your own kitchen remodel.

They get back to me immediately and the service is really unbelievable - the best service in NJ right now. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Jean Herron Jean Herron Design LLC

We worked with Jeff Rambaldi who took such good care of us from start to finish! He helped us find the right cabinets for the pantry and island and helped us design a coffee nook. We wanted a pull out drawer microwave and he got us the specs for the one we wanted to ensure the measurements were exact. Everything beautifully fit in, including the updated stunning hardware included in the set. Jeff even threw in extra handles for all our existing cabinets so we could have continuity to tie them together and we couldn't be any more pleased with how it all came out! We still need to update the backsplash but it turned out into a gorgeous, upgraded space so far!

I'm amazed it's not surrounded by angry villagers with pitchforks and torches, it took them three months to get my cabinet order straightened out and fix their very odd measurement mistakes, and I had nothing but arguments all the way despite the supposed "professional" measurement and design services they sold me on. Part of being a professional is taking responsibility for your own mistakes. Eventually they remade those cabinets but they made sure to take as long as possible, because they were so angry that they had to absorb the cost as per their $250 measurement fee. The resulting kitchen is slapdash and sloppy, and their attitude is "but we gave you a discount". That discount was nothing compared to the cost overruns their delays cost us, not to mention months of no working kitchen. I have to live with a slapdash kitchen; I have to live with my poor choice of cabinet suppliers but I'd advise any friend of mine to steer way clear of this ridiculous klown kar posse. Professional? You'd be better off with Home Depot or even a bunch of 2"x4"s and a hand saw. Look elsewhere if you value your budget and your sanity.
