He scheduled a tee time for three people over the phone. When we arrived at the course, we were told we weren't on the schedule and were asked if we had called the wrong course. We even showed the employee our call log, which showed a three-minute phone call to the course. Instead of taking any responsibility or offering a solution, we were simply told that we should have booked online if we wanted to guarantee a tee time because apparently that's better than calling and speaking to a physical employee. Since it was Father's Day, there were no available times left, so after driving 30 minutes to get there, we had to leave and scramble to find somewhere else to take our dad. We understand that mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability and customer service was extremely disappointing.

Tom the owner has done a great job turning this place around and making it truly one of the best courses in the area. For the money you wont find anywhere that can compete with this course. A few years ago I joined the Thursday night mens league just wanting to get out and golf regularly. The price was probably the biggest draw for me to join the league. League fees are $35 (one time payment) and it's $10 to walk each week, an additional $7 to ride and $3 for skins. Seriously, how do you pass this up on a course this nice!? All the guys in the league are very friendly and accepting to new players. The league scoring is run on handicaps to level the playing field. So it doesn't matter how good or... not good you are. You also don't need to worry about keeping track of your score, average, or handicap as it's all taken care of by the guys who run the league. It you're a golfer looking for a nice course to play, Birch Run is well worth the time and money. I would highly recommend this course.

I guess I don't like courses developed into a housing development. The tee boxes were awful. Most of the greens and fairways were good. The design was not just back and forth so it was different. The front 9 is tucked within the back 9, which makes the holes close to each other. There aren't…read moremany sand bunkers but plenty of water. We weren't a huge fan of how close some of the holes were to the others because then you felt on top of other people. It's not the easiest with more long pars (4 and 5). The golf cart path is in major need of repairs. There were too many large holes. Otherwise, it is tucked by houses and it's neat how you drive around them and on the neighborhood streets. It's a course to go to for a good time with friends and family.

This is what I call a country-club mini-golf course; i.e., it features no windmills or clowns but…read moreis set up more like a real golf course. There are water, sand, and rock hazards, doglegs, and undulations. Many holes require banking off a side-slope rather than traditional ricocheting; in fact, ricochets are a crap shoot here because most of the bumpers are curved and made of short bricks, so there are any number of unpredictable deflections that can occur. Some of the bumpers have open spots into the "ponds" and "creeks" so that you really have to be careful how you direct the tee shot. That being said, it's not a terribly difficult course. Par is 40 and I came in at 43 (I managed to stay out of the hazards, a couple of times by mere luck). One problem--they have flag pins which they require you to leave in. Twice I hit the stick on my first shot, and I consider that a robbery of a potential hole-in-one! The course is a lot of fun if you are satisfied with reading a tricky fairway and giving it your best shot. If you want gimmicks, you won't find them here. The maintenance is decent: no worn spots on the carpet, very few bits of small debris on the course, nice landscaping. There was plenty of running water here but it smelled of sulphur. The balls and clubs are in good condition, too. One other neat thing--at each tee they have a trivia question about the state of Ohio. The answers are printed on the back of the scorecard. Nice touch. I was there on Labor Day around 1:30-2 pm and there were only three couples ahead of me and one family of five following. I'm used to having to wait at most mini-golf courses. All in all, for $5 this is a good time and a great value.
