Like others have mentioned there's a Montana law that only allows 2oz of alcohol produced on-premise to be served per person per day. This means that you can really only order two cocktails per visit (unless you get a double) and that generally the cocktails are not going to be as strong as other places. If you don't want cocktails you can do flights or tastings of any of the spirits they distill in-house. Because of this law I wanted to try house cocktails or ones that I couldn't find anywhere else. My first drink was the burning through nap-thyme ($7) which was tart and sweet and very balanced. My second drink was the german in paradise ($8) which is a very interesting drink. The spiced rum and ginger go well together on the front and then it's sharp from the herb bitters on the finish. It's a unique flavor profile of spicy, herbal, sharp, and bitter. I want to give a shoutout to the bartender Jordan because he was working by himself on a Monday which meant he was the bartender, server, and cleaner. He was doing it all and moving non-stop while making great cocktails with care and quality. I waited a while for my cocktails but I understood the situation, and not once did he complain about it even though he could've. He was even crushing his own ice with the Lewis bag! I recently took a brewery tour from Kurt with a couple of friends and cannot recommend his services…read moreenough. We visited 2 breweries and the distillery on the tour. We enjoyed drinks at each location (not included in the price, but you can sample at each location for free), toured the distillery and one of the breweries, and received information and trivia from Kurt at each stop. I highly recommend taking one of Kurt's tours if you're visiting, or if you're from Helena as I am. You will learn something and have a great time. He also does mountain biking shuttles and can customize individual tours. So glad to have this addition in Helena!
