When he first looked at the job he suggested cleaning patio, all steps in the front and stone work in the front. He also mentioned fixing a blue stone step in the front and brick steps at the back both of which had safety risk. He also mentioned to reset the steps in the front and he gave a total estimate. 1. Several days later when he sent written estimate he kept the amount same but dropped fixing blue stone patio at the front. He claimed that original estimate did not have that. I thought that is absurd but I accepted to pay some more. 2. In the "last day" (since he still did not finish work) he said they completed the work and remaining money needs to be paid. I showed two things. (i) Resetting of the steps in the front was not even. He "explained" that is because in the front he left out circular part untouched, the remaining resetting resulted unevenness. Should not he explain before the job and or suggest that small circular part needs to be retested too? At that point hardly anything could be done. (ii) He did not clean part of the stone work and bottom of some of the steps. He said that he would come back and do that. He said it is "word of honor" he would come back on Wednesday (he was saying this on Sunday). I was misled by 5 star reviews that he had and also he is great talkeer. I paid him remaining balance. HE NEVER CAME BACK. When I inquired on Wednesday he said he would come over weekend. When I called him Saturday afternoon he did not pick the phone. When I called him again he texted to stop calling him repeatedly and he will come back on Sunday (i.e. technically last day of the weekend). After waiting ~two more weeks I mentioned to him I will share reviews in various posts (yelp, google etc. and let my neighbors etc. know) he immediately texted back and said he would come next day. I did not post, next day he texted again saying he would come over the weekend. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN EITHER. I simply think that scams like this misleads people and creates lack of trust in craiglist, yelp etc. which otherwise can be great source of getting service and promoting small and independent business. Hence my posting is here. Anyone can make there own judgement whether or not to do business with this guy (Marco).

I've used Lawn Care Plus every couple of years for almost 10 years when there's a larger project to do than I can tackle myself. They've brought in yards of loam and leveled / reseeded parts of our yard, always with great results. They've aerated our yard every 1-2 years, despite it being a small standalone job some years. They've removed a diseased tree. They helped remove an old paver patio, neatly stacked the old pavers, and prepared the soil for new grass. Always with great responsiveness, professionalism, and value for the price. As I told Tim this week, they've got a very satisfied customer!

But they did an excellent job in our inherited yard that looked like it hadn't been touched in years, for a reasonable price- got rid of all the chaotic overgrowth, trimmed down the trees and bushes to a manageable length, made the grounds look probably as nicest as they ever had. The before and after were like night and day, only took the better part of a day to complete, and we're now actually proud of this yard and look forward to using it They were easy to use, easy to pay, easy to work with- we have no reservations about hiring them again when springtime rolls around, and can see using their services regularly for years to come.

Our sprinkler servicing company closed during COVID, so we had New England Landscape and Design winterize our sprinklers in November 2021. According to my husband, he asked the owner if he needed to get into the house to access the water shut-off and was told no. Yesterday we opened the sprinkler lines to find an exterior pipe had burst in the winter due to improper winterization. According to the owner, my husband told him the water was shut off and he didn't need to come in the house. Classic case of two differing stories, but knowing we have always had someone come in the house to do this task, I know my husband wouldn't have said this. I emailed the owner a video of the broken pipe and he claimed several times my husband told him the inside was taken care of. He is unwilling to fix or even work with us to rectify this mistake. I was looking for a compromise and go nothing. Additionally, he brought up that he felt this was the "gutters all over again." I had forgotten about that, but his team was a week and a half late to clean our gutters. I inquired about them coming from my office one day and learned they were in the middle of cleaning our gutters when I inquired. I didn't know that because I wasn't home. My gutter inquiry must have unknowingly struck a nerve, because the owner reminded me of the gutters today when I was trying to work with him to come up with a resolution. Now I am stuck paying for a plumbing repair for his mistake. His customer service attitude is terrible, and he isn't taking responsibility to make things right. Beware. I am disappointed because we have always been pleased up until this point and have recommended this company to many others in town. But, his callous behavior today has changed our minds and we will be warning others about this company from here on out. Update: We have contacted three sprinkler companies since I filed this initial review to fix the broken valve and look into installing a backflow preventer. Each person stated that it is protocol and common knowledge for anyone to turn on outside faucets once they are done blowing out the line to ensure there is no water in the line. Had they done this we would not have had a broken valve because they would have realized the water wasn't turned off inside. Each person also told us backflow preventers are typically installed inside and indeed, we had our new sprinkler person verify and locate our backflow preventer, so NE Landscape inaccurately told us our system wasn't to code. They were correct that no one takes responsibility for their actions. A simple "Gee, your husband I misunderstood each other! What can we do to come up with a solution?" would have solved the problem when I first approached them with this. Instead, they refused to take any fault and continued to blame the customers over and over. Then they brought up something about the gutters that we had no recollection of. I recalled that they supposedly scheduled us for gutter cleaning on 11/1 and they came instead on 11/11. We didn't see the crew when I texted them and then apologized that they were there and we hadn't seen them. We were happy customers of theirs for years and are disappointed in their demeanor and business response. It's too bad, because we are about to install a huge retaining wall in the back and were going to have them do the job. Attitude is everything, and we are not pleased with their approach to this situation at all. Others in their industry have all said they made the mistake by not checking the faucets before they left last fall after blowing out the lines. We paid $200 for someone to fix their mistake and still, they are being unprofessional about the situation and taking zero responsibility.

Recently (May 2023), however, when we asked them to help us redesign a portion of our back yard, they hesitated but then finally provided a proposal, which we accepted. Less than a week later, without explanation, we were contacted and told they would not be doing the job and our annual lawn service would be discontinued. Despite several attempts, no further communication or explanation was provided. We don't know if the business is now defunct or if they simply decided they no longer wanted our business. We would have been ok with any reasonable explanation, but the lack of communication is highly unprofessional and frustrating as we now need to find an alternative service provider mid-way through the lawncare season. Contract this company at your own risk.
