Caring Heart Animal Hospital Review - 3/3/26…read more I had been searching for a new vet for my Great Pyrenees. He's a big guy with various issues since we adopted him from a kill shelter about 7-years ago. I had been going to Belle Mead Animal Hospital, and they are very good, but I was looking for a more local vet that had the time to spend working on his issues. Some of those issues included a luxated patella, digestive sensitivity, paw infections and the like. I found Caring Heart through the Next Door app, and the reviews were very good, so I figured I would give it a shot. Since the very first appointment back in 2024, I found Dr. Chris & his staff to be an excellent choice. He was compassionate, he listened and provided a thoughtful & dedicated approach to my GP's care. His prices were fair (and less than my previous vet) and more important, his approach always focused on care and not "spending money for the sake of..." Well, recently, Dr. Chris sold the practice, and my concern was that I had to begin the search process all over again. Well, that wasn't the case at all. Dr. Silit, acquired the practice, and although he was highly recommended by Dr. Chris prior to his departure, you never know what to expect until that first visit. Well, I'm delighted to report that Dr. Silit is outstanding. He takes the time to understand the issues, listens very well and more important, he provides timely and effective care at every turn. I should also say that as a Surgeon, you would think he would promote "surgery" at every turn, even if there are less evasive options. I'm happy to report that nothing could be further from the truth. I've always gotten an appointment quickly, and his pricing and recommendations always make sense. Additionally, I found his staff, Brandon & Jessica, truly round out the experience when it comes to making you feel welcome. They are there with you in case of any emergency needs. My feeling is that no business would likely receive 5-stars across the board. Someone will always be disappointed or find reasons not to recommend. In this case, I assure you that your experience with Dr. Silit and his team, based on my ongoing relationship with them, will stand the test of time. Whether you need meds, general wellness care or emergency counsel, Dr. Silit and his team are there. Finally, you should know that I'm not one to rate businesses unless I'm deeply disappointed or highly impressed. Caring Heart in Skillman deserves a visit, if you're like me & you're highly selective about your pet's care and need for a responsive, friendly and knowledgeable staff that simply "gets it". This is one small town vet with big positive outcomes that's worth your time and business.

He suggested we medicate my dog before coming in to calm down. Then they muzzled him so they can take a blood sample. Horrible, horrible experience.

If you're looking for competent professional care of your beloved pet and you live in or around…read moreTrenton, I recommend this place. We've been taking our cat here since we got her to deal with various digestive ailments, respiratory sicknesses, and to get her spayed. She seems to like it. It's convenient, and not too expensive. The vets and techs seem to know our cat which is nice. They handle her very well and have pics of all the puppies and kittens out front. Not sure what else to say besides I trust this place and i think they do a super job.

I am absolutely disgusted by the level of care and professionalism we received at this veterinary…read moreclinic. My mother brought her 5-year-old, 22-pound Mini Dachshund in for a routine wellness exam and vaccinations. During checkout, we noticed that the paperwork we were given belonged to an entirely different dog. Naturally, this raised serious concerns about whether our dog had even received the correct vaccine. After questioning the staff, it took them quite some time to investigate and admit that they had documented our dog's vaccination under another patient's record. As if that wasn't concerning enough, we were then sent home with medication dosed for a 44-pound dog--twice the weight of our dog. We had to return to the clinic and insist that they verify and provide the correct dosage. Unfortunately, it didn't stop there. On that same day, we discovered that the replacement medication they provided was expired. When we brought this to their attention, the veterinarian dismissed our concerns and told us it was "fine" to give to our dog. I'm sorry, but would you give expired medication to your child? Why would you think it's acceptable to give expired medication to someone's beloved family pet? Three major mistakes in a single visit: incorrect patient records, incorrect medication dosage, and expired medication. These are not minor clerical errors--they are serious issues that directly impact the health and safety of animals entrusted to your care. We left with zero confidence in this clinic and will never be returning. Pet owners deserve better. Costing visit for tragical experience was $300.

Bad experience at Harlingen…read more I brought my cat in to be checked for a possible respiratory infection on Friday, Oct. 31, 2025. She'd been sneezing intermittently and occasionally sniffling. My cat was assigned to Dr. Aguilar. Somehow, the technician and doctor misunderstood this information and began examining her eye instead. First, they wanted to give her a vaccine for her respiratory condition, then the doctor changed her mind. I was bombarded with jargon that I had to repeatedly ask to be clarified. Even when I explained that I have difficulty handling her (she does not like to be picked up or touched), the doctor prescribed an eye ointment and medication to mix with her food--no antibiotic shot, even though that treatment had been prescribed before. I never requested an eye exam. My cat is seen by the Vet Vision Center, and they are fully aware of her eye condition. And NO, she's not having an operation on her eye (as suggested). It's almost impossible (and extremely stressful) to attempt to apply an ointment to her eye twice a day! She notices the crushed pills and does not touch the food with them in it. Why can't she get an antibiotic shot? She's had them before and they helped. My cat is 15-17 years old, and I do NOT want to stress her with treatments that would confine her to a room for two weeks. I felt that neither my needs nor my cat's were addressed. I didn't feel listened to, nor did I feel my concerns were taken seriously. My cat is an older cat who dislikes being held, and I emphasized this multiple times. I simply don't want to add unnecessary stress to her life at this point. Even during nail trimming, I was uncomfortable with how the techs handled her. At first, they just did her front paws and told me they'd do the back ones next time. I had to insist they trim her back paws. What kind of care is this? In addition, the initial billing quote was about $100. I asked the tech and the doctor to give me an estimate of additional charges, if any. This was NOT communicated to me. I was blindsided when I went to pay the bill upon leaving--$295! I was too upset to argue, so I paid it. I felt like I was taken advantage of. I'm sorry I came to Harlingen--things have clearly changed since I came here years ago with my other cats. My needs and my cat's needs were not addressed. As a senior citizen on a budget, I feel like I wasted $295 on this visit, and now I'll have to spend more to see another vet. This experience was very upsetting to me, and we won't be back. I'm done with Harlingen.
