Stopped by again to get a Snoopy sticker for my phone, some postcards, and some witty fun socks for friends. Really a fun little shop.

"They print my message in the Saturday Sun I had to tell them I ain't second to none" (Michael Jackson) Pratt Street is a pedestrian only shopping strip in the heart of Downtown Hartford, more or less surrounded by Main, Church, Asylum, and Trumbull Streets. Pratt Street boasts a lot of cool places - a bakery, a combination tattoo parlor/coffee shop, a brewery, and more. But one of the coolest of the coolest places here is Hartford Prints. It's a jam-packed gift shop with cards, stationery, clothing, jewelry, tote bags, kitchen and bath goods, books, toys, calendars, games, candles, drinks and food, and so much more. They have a magnificent selection of Connecticut and Hartford-based prints and cards to celebrate the Nutmeg State and its capital city. The store has a very laid back and chill vibe. The workers we saw today were young, cheerful, and helpful. And the store gets very high marks for their aesthetics, splashy use of color, and eye-catching display of merchandise. We picked up a few doodads for the grandchildren's Valentines Day gift box - some adorable Gummy Bear hairclips, two sets of stickers, and two super cute Snoopy keychains for a little over $50. Yeah, I know it's not a super cheap discount kind of a store, but I was glad to support this Hartford gem.

The store was bright and stunning! I couldn't find a post card in CT and they had a bunch to pick from! The people working in the store were so kind and helpful. The prices were very affordable throughout the store and there are plenty of choices for gifts.

Cutest shop EVER! I felt transported right out of my hometown of Hartford, CT and into a cute card shop in a quaint little town by the water in some touristy vacation spot. I have been following Hartford Prints! on instagram for a while and finally took the trip this afternoon! They were having a pop-up on Pratt Street with a few other Hartford vendors so it was the perfect excuse to try some new places. It was so fun to feel like a tourist in my own state! So many Connecticut and Hartford themed cards, prints, drinkware, clothes, and more! I got a cute Hartford themed magnet for my mom and a mother's day card. I also stocked up on some fun birthday cards and a father's day "dog dad" card for the hubby, hehe! Everything is a little pricey but that is because it's all handmade from local artists, so you need to expect to pay a little more. I loved this shop so much and browsing every nook of this store was so fun. This will be my go-to shop to buy gifts for friends and family!

Saw this card on Instagram and had to get some when visiting!! New favorite

Loved coming here and seeing all of the Hartford/Connecticut pride! Wicked cute gift shop with tons of different and unique offerings, has a bunch of gifty items and Connecticut themed t-shirts, hats, bags. Everything has cool, artsy, inspired design, not the usual things I've usually seen offered elsewhere or online. Saw them advertising on Instagram and had to stop by when I was in the area, delighted my friends from out today state with the "Someone in Connecticut Loves You" card, which is now my absolute favorite. The store was really nicely merchandised, tons of space to walk around and get a good look at everything

    Just some of their cards.

If you are local, and especially if you're from out of town you must visit this beautiful store. It is packed with locally made items, it's just so much fun to look at everything and to appreciate the craftsmanship and the beautiful detail of the packaging. With no doubt, these things are a little more expensive then the comparable item you'd find at Target, however I'd much rather give my $5.00 to a local artist then $3.00 to a big corporation. There are greeting cards here, and a lot of them, magnets, keychains, ornaments, lots of candles, jewelry, books, tee shirts, and lots more. There are items for adults, teenagers and kids. It is a little store and it's very tastefully set up and decorated. The people working here are pleasant and are informed on the items they sell. I also love Pratt street, the street where Hartford Prints is housed. This street has a bit of European feeling to it, truly the most beautiful street in Hartford.

Very creative and finely executed items makes this one of my favorite local artisan shops. They are fully involved in Hartford Art scene ...and I've been to a couple amazing events! Always a go to for unique gifts.. love this place!

The perfect card for when three of your best friends are pregnant at once!

They are a "vintage-chic soda bar" with definite nostalgic vibes from the 1950's, or even earlier. Want an old-fashioned ice cream soda, milkshake, soda floats, ice cream sundae, banana split, or maybe a boozy ice cream or coffee drink? Well, belly up to their long soda counter, hop on a bar stool, and let your inner Fonzie go wild. You'll love their pastel pink, black and white color scheme, and you'll sure love their charm and hospitality. You won't see a zillion ice cream flavors on the menu, just the most basic varieties beyond vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. We ordered two Malt Frappes ($11 each), one Classic Vanilla and one Pistachio. They both came with whipped cream and a cherry, and my Pistachio was garnished with pistachio pieces in the frappe and atop the whipped cream. They were excellent, cold, thick, refreshing, frozen comfort food at its best and oh so nostalgic. Reminded me of the shakes we used to get t Howard Johnson's a lifetime ago. And the portions were pretty big, our server Gwen poured whatever wouldn't fit into our glasses into a plastic cup for us. Definitely worth a stop on your next visit to downtown Hartford.

I was miserable because the…read moreonly time I could go was on a Saturday, a free Saturday no less, on a day they had a festival, arts and crafts, and a Christmas tree event. So the crowds were INSANE. Like NYC level insane. That being said, I have lots of great things to say about this place, which underwent a huge renovation and modernization several years ago that was so good that the New York Times wrote an article saying it was "a masterpiece of renovation." The great hall is beautiful and though I don't care much for old school colonizer art, I was bummed it was teeming with Christmas trees and families, hindering my ability to take an artful photo to capture that masterpiece. The museum does a great job of mixing colors, styles, appreciating the classical, while also mixing in fun and modern elements. They have European art. Impressionist art. All that gold religious stuff. Modern art that's just some blocks and colors and makes you wonder, "is this really art?" They have a great surrealist section and a huge Dali painting, which is actually the marketing they used to get me here. They have some sculpture, some Greek sculpture and some contemporary art. I enjoyed the art by Black artists and art focusing on Black struggles in the Amistad Center, located on the third floor, though I wish this section was bigger. They had an Islamic art section, Chinese art, American art (most of what I saw was from the 20s through the 90s). I loved how each space was painted a rich, moody color. And the common spaces were full of patterns, stained glass, and multi-colored walls winding up the staircase. The staff were nice and helpful. I paid 20-something bucks for admission, but since I bought a ticket for a free Saturday, the staff was cool enough to contact me and ask me if I wanted a full refund. I told them to take the fee as a donation. I've seen almost all the museums in New York City, which is my favorite place in the world. But this one can hold its own. But if I ever visit again (which I doubt, cus who needs to see Hartford twice?)--I will avoid weekends and free days and definitely the Christmas tree festival!
