This Stop and Shop has the worst employees I've seen. They open at 6:00 am and none of the self-checkout lines are open. There is one old woman cashier who needs to retire. The line is usually long and she is very slow. When there is an issue, and there always is an issue that early in the morning, no manager can be found. I've seen so many people just drop their stuff and leave because the line doesn't move. Add to the employee issue, their refrigeration systems have been having problems for 6 months or more. Often I go in there and the refrigerated and freezer sections have mops and towels along the sections. I've returned yogurt, chicken and beef to this location 3 times in the past 3 months. Be careful what you are buying. If you think the Sayville location is a better bet, think again, that location is worse and the store is filthy!!! read more

This is a super large Stop & Shop. I sometimes stop here on my way home from work because it's right off Sunrise Hwy. I'm here the day before a snowstorm and it wasn't crowded at all. There was quite a bit of wait in the deli section. But ALL the staff were in good spirits & friendly. Even laughing amongst themselves while expeditiously getting everyone's cold cuts & cheeses cut exactly how they wanted. This store is always clean and bright. And they also have a large organic & vegetarian section if that's your thing. It ain't my thing but I have vegetarian friends so I'm always looking for unique choices for them. There is probably only one or two people in that store that have people skills I'm so disappointed because although I like the stuff in the store the hired help that is there is rude and never accommodates any issue that I may have they're either no Express lines or there's one person that is busy with someone else while all these other people are walking around doing nothing and the line keeps getting longer and longer I just don't understand how you run a business like this I've been in the food business for a long time and I serve my community and I can't imagine treating people the way some of your staff treats customers read more

This store needs to get their act together and get the Scan-It only line open. For as long as I've been going there, it is NEVER open. It irks me. Those of us who do use Scan-It shouldn't have to wait on line behind someone self-scanning 100 items just because the store staff wont fix or activate the computer for Scan-It only customers. If it's a corporate problem, get them there to fix it. If it's a store problem, then the manager needs to do a better job. Can you tell this annoys me? I'm all for new technology that makes life easier, but for the life of me I can't figure out why this store has the option but doesn't make it available to customers. Beyond that, the store is clean and bright. Their prices are fair and they make it easy to save money with good deals and coupons. They offer better technology than most area supermarkets when it comes to making checkout easier, but they NEED TO FIX the SCAN-IT line. Selection is okay & it's certainly cleaner than many of the Stop & Shops I've seen. However, one thing: if you're going to have a checkout stand for those with scanners that you claim is an "Express Checkout" for scanner customers, your machine should require ZERO interaction with a store employee. We made the mistake of using this one and it took twice as long as going through a regular self-checkout would have. That topic leads to some gripes about the chain itself but this is not the place for them. read more

The store managers are useless the employees are rude . I went in to buy a lighter and because I didn't have my ID on me they refused to sell it to me which in New York state they're not allowed to ask for ID to buy a lighter but they were willing to lose the sale and just make another customer unhappy with this store and with Whole Foods opening up across the street soon they need all the business they can get in my opinion . But if that's how they roll and that's how they want to do business then good luck to them there are other stores on Long Island . And a Starbucks in your store isn't going to save this location either . And buyer beware they've had the same Fancy Feast cat treats on their shelf expired for a year now . Every time I go in I throw them behind everything on the shelf and the next time I go in they pull them all forward again and try and sell them to some unknowing customer and somebody's animal is going to get seriously sick . Every week since the remodel of this location it has been a mess. They never have anything that is on sale, their produce is a disgrace, they have less organic produce than they ever had and when you are trying to use their scan it mobile the wifi goes down throughout the store! Then today after ringing up my whole order while shopping, for convenience that this store boasts about, I go to self checkout and am told I will have to re-ring my whole orderbecause thescan it is down. I have emailed corpoate and spoken to the store manager and nothing has changed. They also have stopped carrying their organic brand of cereal. Finding what I need here has become impossible and the store is expensive to begin with. Time to shop elsewhere. read more

extremely rude women at customer service.. older women.. maybe manager(shouldn't be) has blonde/ blackish hair....bigger women.. very rude. has no customer skills.. extremely rude. wrong job.. I am a customer every week, and every time I visit she is being rude to a customer or being absolutely rude to the cashiers.. she needs to get fired. I have shopped here weekly for several years. The pro's of shopping here are: clean store, wide selection, good produce, very helpful employees on the sales floor and cashiers. The con's are the manager has an attitude, sale items are often out of stock, they do not stock items overnight so in the morning there is often no stock of many items. But I have shopped here for years and will continue to do so as it is world's above places like Pathmark. read more

I think this is one of the better grocery stores. It's always clean, I find the employees friendly and I can almost always find what I want. I hate grocery shopping (really any shopping) but I don't mind coming here. Parking is great too. I also use the Peapod service which I really like. Their drivers are always friendly and usually on time. All in all, if you have to go grocery shopping, this is a good place to do it. read more

My new local grocery store. I used to go to Shop Rite, but I had so many issues, which are addressed in their review. I really appreciate their extensive natural/organic/vegetarian options, many of which are cheaper than Whole Foods. They also have a decent produce selection. I have lived in the Holbrook area for over 20 years and have always shopped at the Holbrook Stop and Shop. In the past months this store has become progressively bad. The shelves are empty all the time as well as the refrigerator case. The produce is horrible When there is produce. Don't know what is happening there but today is my last shopping at this store. After spending close to $235 dollars I still had to go somewhere else to complete my weekly shopping. I am done. read more

its a nice looking store and there is a robot which is cool but the deli department is the reason I wont shop here.. imagine, you walk into a store and place a kiosk order and go shopping, they call your number and you slowly make your way back to the deli.. look around for your order which isnt there... when you ask where your order is, you are told they never started the order... it was 45 min since placing the order til I walked out the door and went to a different store read more

Decent Stop and Shop on the north side of Sunrise Highway. Ok selection, but the self check check out that doesn't take cash is stupid.

Can't buy fruit here, it's never fresh. Deli staff not very friendly and do not slice the cold cuts the way you request them!

Decent store except if you're an early morning shopper. 6:30 on a Sunday morning and boxes still line the aisles while some of the the overnight crew stands around talking to the cashier. Is it their job to clear the aisles? Not sure but the aisles shouldn't have abandoned merchandise boxes lying around while customers are walking down aisles. The worst part about shopping in the store is entering and leaving. The store employees see nothing wrong with smoking right outside the only unlocked entry giving the customers no choice but to walk through clouds of smoke while entering and leaving. Management should be ashamed for allowing this to happen. read more

produce section is disgusting. whats the sense of renovating the store if the produce ,especially the potatoes, are rotten.

The store is not what it used to be. I've been shopping here for many years now and it's becoming less convenient for me to shop here. The grocery dept seems to be the worst. The products i buy weekly are always sold out so I have to go to another store to get what I need. Aren't you suppose to be a one stop shop? Basically if the produce dept and the deli dept wasn't so nice I would go elsewhere. They have one of the best produce dept and the manager there is always helpful and friendly. Everything seems so fresh! The deli dept cuts my cold cuts perfectly (I am extremely picky) and always cater to my needs. Besides these 2 depts the rest of the store is disappointing! read more
