The cashier charged me a large amount of money on my credit card in addition to the accurate charge for what I'd purchased that day. When I reported it, the bookkeeper at the store was told to tell me to have my bank return the money to me. I informed my credit card two weeks ago, and they took action. I've been shopping at this new Meat Farms since they've left the old building years ago, that was in poor shape for a long time. I NEVER shopped in that building. I was concerned about the food quality in the new. My shopping is 99% fresh produce. I've been nicely surprised that to this day, they keep the old produce out. I never have to sift through rotted out food. With everything going on with trump trashing the economy, I hope they don't sacrifice the shelf life & we're stuck with bad food. If that's the case I'll go to Sam's club for rotten produce-they never disappoint. When there're low sales items like a cacao pod that doesn't sell often, Meat Farms doesn't keep an abundance available-that's a good thing. So their shopper/purchaser, is doing the right thing by not over shopping. As for returns, I've had no problem returning 1 item, without a receipt. The mgr was standing with customer service as she asked him if they even sell an item. Wow. Anyway. My suggestion to all, when not holding onto receipts, download apps like Receipt Hog, Receipt Pal, Pogo, Fetch. You get points for rewards & most important, it keeps a log of your receipts that you can retrieve for years. The only store that stopped accepting it from me - Ross Dress for Less in NJ. In the end, mgmt needs to make sure that even the negative reviews are addressed or responded to, not just the good reviews. It lets customers know that we're really heard. read more

Terrible customer service when trying to return goods. I used to buy here all the time. No more as of today!! I purchased some sliced cheddar on Monday, opened it on Thursday and saw that it was moldy. Returned to the store to get a replacement but the customer service was rude and said I had to return it within 24 hours and show a receipt. Crazy! I who keeps recipes form a supermarket? I love this Meat Farms. It's close to where I park my truck at the end of the day so I can swing by & get what I need. Great Deli counter people. They slice it how YOU like it & ask after the first slice before continuing. Huge selection of Fruits & Veggies of all kinds. The Meats are freshly cut or ground. They also have some of my oddball favorites like chicken hearts, gizzards & feet. But I think my 2 favorite things are the Bags of the ends of the cold cuts & cheeses & the roasted Dog bones. Went there today to the deli department. Ordered 1lb. of ham from the clerk. Putting the ham on the slicer, it was this small butt end of meat from boars head. Told the clerk I did not want it, but to cut me a fresh one. It was the same piece of meat they tried to give me just days before, as if everyone rejected it for days. I know if the meat given to me was accepted by me, would not last just maybe a day in fridge, once I brought it home, I wanted to be on the safe side and reject it, before the clerk started to cut it for me. Turns out, the manager, and the store monager I had gotten them involved to straighten out my issue with the order. They said sorry but we have to use this meat first, or we can not serve you a fresh piece from another ham. I spent previously alot of money in that store, but now I decided never to go back, just because ot the attitudes of the managers there. Hands down the WORST MEAT & SEAFOOD you will ever buy. Disgusting outdated garbage that's not even suitable for consumption. These people have some nerve selling this expired crap. I'm convinced they do the old sneaky underhanded "relabel" trick with old product and just slap a new label on with a later expiration date. By the time you buy it its already turned rancid and disgusting. I'm done with this place. Between the disgusting food and immature counter staff they have at the registers playing on there phones all day and talking among each other like little kids I cant be bothered. I have been stuck multiple times with bad meat from this place. This is hardly by accident. This dump is seedy. You will get sick very bad eating the store brand meats. I was so happy when this store opened up. The last market that was in this location wasn't very good. The produce section looked like it was all old. In the new store the produce section is twice as big and so much more variety. I have found some items that I can only find in ethnic stores. The whole store is very clean, the butchers are wonderful as is the rest of the staff. read more

I was a regular customer until i seen how they treat there teenage workers. DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS WORK HERE. I seen a boy working as fast and as hard as he could and the manager was harassing him saying "come on thats the best you can do work faster work faster" in a demeaning and degrading way. I have seen cashiers denied there right to the BATHROOM. And thats barely the start of the abuse the kids who work here endure, i just dont have time to list every thing i have seen here. Half the employees enjoy jerking you off every chance they get. Checkout ladies are fine as is the butcher and his people. Deli people are great also. Maintenance guy is a waste of space. While this certainly is the place that one should go for produce and meat, I have to warn my fellow Yelpers about a problem I've experienced numerous times in their dairy department. On more than one occasion I've either purchased (unknowingly) or picked up containers of shredded cheese that have mold in them. On another occasion (it might have been two) I've purchased (again unknowingly) items that are still on the shelf past their expiration date and only after tasting it (sic) did I realize something wasn't right and look at the expiration date. Each time I've taken these items back to the stores I get a "I'm sorry" from the person managing the customer service desk. Obviously their quality control controls aren't working. I was at the deli yesterday and the woman helping me and I use that term loosely, was exceptionally rude to me. I asked to see the first slice because the gentleman before me had an issue with how thick she cut something. She refused to show me the slice and told me she knew what she was doing. Now I don't know if she had prior experience but I know she was new at this deli. Regardless, she was unbelievably dismissive when I insisted on seeing it. She then proceeded to stop helping me and ignore me altogether, just as she had done with the customer before me and went on to call another number. I was appalled and still am. I never write reviews but I am so horrified by my experience that I've made an exception. How does meat farms keep an employee like this around? It's unacceptable. No one deserves to be treated that way. I certainly didn't. Needless to say, I will be getting my cold cuts from somewhere else from now on. read more

I have been using Meat Farms for years, first in Commack and now Holbrook (people are too hung up on expiration dates), I have never found any product out of date, the service is great, I love their produce, meats and dairy sections. Deli prices for Boars Head items are good but not when they consistently overcut what you want. Someone needs to tell them that 1/3 lb is not .5 and 1/4 lb is not .3. Math issue continues with cashiers. I bought 3 artichokes at 4/$5. She didnt know how much 3 were so just charged me $5. I went to customer service to complain and they also couldnt figure out that I was owed $1.25. I commented to manager who was standing nearby that workers could use some math and people training. His response is Im standing right here. My only hope is to go to Ronkonkoma store and hope that meat farms is a franchise and holbrook will go out of business. On any given day, you could find purple broccoli, orange cauliflower, green cauliflower, purple potatoes, several varieties of eggplant, and more, all with great prices! Convenient store to shop, but be aware of their expiration dates on products! As most stores they move older products to the front, but I have come home multiple times with expired-dated items - if I don't carefully check dates. I feel now that when I shop there I have to look at each item and check dates. Many times I find expired dates still left on shelves. Most recently I was shopping on Father's day weekend, I picked up a coffee creamer, about to put it in my cart and noticed a May expiration date - a month expired. I was so upset and brought it to the manager!! I am tired of working this hard when I shop at this store and have to examine each item.
