I've been shopping here since it first opened and won't go anywhere else. Over the years, I've gotten to know the checkout, aisle, and some of the management staff. They have always been friendly and helpful. Recently, the store underwent an overhaul and all the aisles were changed to compensate more product. At this time, management had a clerk walking the store with a list and asking the customers if they were having a problem finding anything. If so, he (or she) would direct you to the correct aisle. I thought this was a tremendously professional and courteous idea that I've never seen before. I prefer this supermarket over others in the area because the aisles are wide and the front end is spacious enough not to ever seem overcrowded. The checkout clerks are always cheerful and friendly (to me anyway) The only complaint I've ever had here (but this is not exclusive to this store) are what I call "the baggers" (people who collect recyclable products and enter the bottle room with garbage bags full of empties) and leave no room whatsoever to get in despite the fact that I'm attempting to return only about a dozen plastic bottles. Even the staff complains about them. I discussed this issue with the manager and he then had a sign put up in the bottle room stating that only a certain amount of returns would be accepted per customer. I 'm not sure this solved the problem but I told him not to give cash in return for the tickets. Some stores will only accept bottle receipts for in-store product purchases. I'm not sure if he's implemented this suggestion yet. However, Elsa (the front end Manager) told me that if I was unable to get into the bottle room, to go straight to the Customer Service desk and they would accept my returns. I've had to do this a few times and had no problem. However, for an entire shopping experience, I highly recommend this store. read more

Shop Rite has slightly better prices and the best promotion prices, but less pleasant shopping experience. A&P is drunk with their prices. Owner is Ahold, same operator as Giant of Maryland, another quality supermarket. read more

It's a big building full of food and stuff, like all the rest, so it's hard to get excited. But it is AOK and closest to home. Always found staff to be very helpful. We have tried Shoprite and A&P, and Stop-n-Shop has the edge. read more

It's a store, full of fooooood. Produce section is one of the better out of all the foodstores around, not as moldy, wilder selection of goodies. They now have a seafood counter versus what used to be only a 'cart' and the frozen stuff. Prices are definitely higher than other local choices but the sales are where to plan your list. BEWARE coming here on a Sunday bc its the ultimate test of how much patience you have before your rabid side explodes forth. This is the nicest supermarket in the Peekskill/Cortlandt area. Always clean, neat, organized and fully stocked. It's not my choice supermarket to shop in only because of distance (shoprite is closer to my house) but I happen to be at the Beech Shopping Center so I ran in and got what I needed. read more

I wanted to take the time to thank your employee Kwame. My family was coming over for a big New Year's dinner and the pressure was on. After work I ran over to Stop and Shop and stocked up on fresh fruits, peperoni, cheese, Steak and salad. I suddenly thought of this great product that was for sale around Christmas time. A tree in the form of salted butter. I seen it for a month during December but never purchased it. I spotted Kwame who was hard at work stocking the shelves. I asked him for this particular item. He stopped what he was doing and promised to check in the back. He returned and apologized that he could not find the item and that they may have been done for the season. I told him no worries. I was just so happy he stopped what he was doing and tried to help me. I got one more thing on my list and was about to stand in line for self check out when I heard someone calling me. It was Kwame. He had the Christmas Tree butter in his hand and handed it to me. He had check again and found it in the stock room. I was amazed at the length he went to help me out. I have always been a Stop and Shop fan but Kwame went above and beyond as an employee. I thanked him for making my first of many family celebrations in our new home a success. read more

Ok there are a lot of supermarkets around but there is only one Stop and Shop! Clean and endless variety of just about anything and everything! Produce always fresh! Florist offers beautiful flowers and arrangements no matter the season! Added self check out lanes for quicker and easier checkout! Staff is hard working and very friendly! Bakery has a great array of cakes and fresh breads and bagels! The store even has a Starbucks so you can enjoy a cup as you shop! The seasonal aisle is my favorite, candy and small decorations and more candy, especially at Halloween time! Very good assortment of gift cards for purchase. Only complaint, bags are small and not very durable! Bring your own, save the environment! read more

I've always liked Stop & Shop. I know people in the area say they're pricey, but I don't think they're any more expensive than any of the other supermarkets. I love the scan and go feature too, it saves time and works fairly well. I think they have a good selection of products and everything is fresh, so that's always a plus! read more

I like Stop and Shop but today has been one of MANY times that I have purchased groceries here....only to come home and see that they are SPOILED. I purchased turkey wings and the "sell by" date is a week from today, however I opened it and the bottom side of the turkey wings are black and smelled were slimy. A few days ago I purchased a yellow bell pepper. I started to make a dish the very next day and half of it was already covered in mold. I have only lived in Peekskill for a little over a year now and I have received spoiled food from Stop and Shop at least five times. It makes me not trust the integrity of their managers, their suppliers, and the store in general. read more

Their items are reasonably good with some good selections, but explain to me why service is a hit or miss? I do not like when they have these high students doing a lack luster job. Many times I see them talking gibberish with their coworkers, rather than actually doing their job and providing quality service. I don't know who their managers maybe or where they are many a times; but this is a place that needs to really hone in on service and help their young staff learn what good service entails. read more

This store is very large, but also very well laid out. If I need to grab only a few things, it doesn't take me 15 years to get in and out. I find the meat prices are usually fairly reasonable. Also a great selection of beer and ice cream (two things I seem to purchase frequently). Large selection of produce, even though it is somewhat overpriced. My only negative is the parking area, which is shared with the rest of the weirdly-laid-out shopping plaza. There should be a few more cart return areas, which might eliminate some of the random carts that can usually be found around the parking lot. read more

It's a supermarket with as many self-serve checkouts with possible, next they will expect us to go find the food in the back room so they don't have to pay someone to put the food on the shelves. There's not much else to say. It's pretty clean, prices are decent, and the selection is pretty good. Still, I like to checkout with a cashier- people in the area need full-time work (not 20 hours per week jobs like this place offers), and not having the opportunity to interface with a cashier makes shopping here feels ... hollow. read more

Usually Stop & Shop is my go to and I've never had a problem, but after going in there recently, I might go to Shoprite more often. I got the rudest check out person I think I've ever experienced. No greeting, no smile, no eye contact. I'm also assuming he didn't follow protocol. I did the scanner gun and at check out was audited. Typically the cashier will choose a certain amount of items at random, that way they can make sure you paid. This time he told me "I need 6 items" and I was the one who handed them to him. If I was dishonest and didn't scan everything, I would just have chose 6 items I did pay for. Separately at the deli I was waiting in line and one woman ordered what appeared to be a pound or more of pepperoni. Another woman proceeded to order 1/4 of a pound. There was one girl who was slicing the pound of pepperoni for customer #1 and another worker was helping customer #2. The worker helping customer #2 proceeded to grab the pepperoni being sliced for customer #1 and gave it to customer #2. Needless to say customer #1 was fairly annoyed/mad and gave all her deli meat back. I have never seen this happen anywhere before and I'm inclined to say this was inappropriate behavior. I regret going here the one and only time. Parking is a nightmare and the spaces are too small. Prices are not even competitive, the store was dirty and have a late 80's feeling to it despite outward appearances. The employees were sure helpful and I'm being sarcastic. When I want milk from the dairy refrigerators, the containers are not pushed forward and are hard to reach. I happen to like a milk that is on the top shelf, and I can't reach it. Three different times I have had to ask for help from dairy employees, and they begrudgingly get it for me, and don't even bother to move the rest of the containers forward for the next person. Otherwise I am pleased with the service in your store. read more

Was in this store early this morning and while checking out didn't realize until I got to my car that I scanned an item twice. No big deal, just go to customer service to get the refund. There's one girl behind the counter and one in front and they're just yapping away until the girl on the outside of the counter turned and saw there was a line of customers. I finally get to the counter, tell the kid what happened. Again, not a big deal. She hands me my refund and I thank her. No response, didn't say your welcome, just acted like I didn't exist. She should be happy she has a damn job with so many out of work and more still losing their jobs. Like to go to the 12 items or less with 55 items? No Problem! How bout the self checkout with 200 items? Sure, why not! Even better, why don't you pick up one of those nifty "scan it yourself" gadgets, scan and pack all your groceries yourself And Then go stand on line to pay for 25mins. only to be AUDITED which only happens EVERY OTHER TIME you shop. Stop&Shop is a pricey choice as far as groceries, which they try to offset using 'rewards' like a few cents off at a local gas station or two....however that is nothing specific about this (Peekskill) location.... Now, location specifics (Peekskill): The produce and bakery sections are routinely under stocked. Well they will always have one of the item you're looking for don't expect to be able to choose between numerous to find the best one. Their product and bridal choices in other departments lake grocery and frozen are very good, but for this you need to pay a premium. I enjoy the fact that they have expanded their natural and/or Organic grocery selections , making it like they always say it cost more to eat better, which is not always the case if you're a shopper smart enough to go elsewhere for certain items. Oh and forget endorsements or even carrying local products, like honey made by the beekeepers, or produce grown within a 20 mile area... Which is available at several other locals Megamarts... This place also is a horrible neighbor only keeping one entrance / exit door open much of the time outside of 9 to 5 , and always doing so only by keeping the door open that is farthest from any other store in the shopping center. read more

This used to be one of my favorite places to shop. A few months back they made a major change in the store and reorganized the layout. Now I am al for moving ahead and making a change but with this change they also stopped carrying some of the major items I went in their for. They are now treating their organics like the plague and have a separate section for them, along with not carrying some of the organics they used to. With that said, something I have noticed before they did the move is the packers don't care when stocking the shelves, when opening boxes they slice right through to the product packaging. The best supermarket in Peekskill NY Stop & Shop is a large store. At 5/6/17 9:00pm I stop to get a few items the store was very clean. During check out the self check out machines were very fast. They have changed allot on what they carry and it is disappointing. They use to have allot of good selling products in the organics, now they don't. I have been shopping at Stop & shop for close to 20 years. Yesterday I walked in and there is a "robot" roaming up and down the aisles detecting "spills". If the robot detects a spill it alerts Stop and Shop that there is a spill on aisle eight or whatever. Subsequently a Stop & Shop employee comes out and cleans up the spill. I asked several employees there what they thought about the robot. Each employee said in one way or another that that job could be done by anyone in the store. And that it was just a matter of time before employees lost their jobs due to automation. I also witnessed the robot at work. So the robot sent an alert indicating that there was a spill in the deli section. There was no spill there War pieces of paper on the floor. An employee came out and picked up that one piece of paper that was on the floor in the line of the robot detection site. But the worker neglected to pick up a number of other pieces of paper that were in the same area just not in the line of sight of the robot. This was the most ridiculous thing I ever saw. How much did it cost to build the Robot? The constant beep beep sound is also annoying. It has to let you know what's around so God forbid it hits you there's not a lawsuit. Can't the employees just make rounds and see a spill and pick it up? Can't customers inform an employee that there's a spill? Can the camera see the spill? I suppose it's an interesting gimmick. But it's demoralizing for the employees. It seems to give them a sense of uselessness. It used to be happy employees made for better customer service. I made it my business to speak with 7 different employees in Stop and Shop just because I was curious. They were all very eager to share their opinions. I agreed with them. Kudos to the college kid that invented the robot. However I (a human) was still able to detect the six other pieces of paper that one employee did not pick up. Spend the money in training and incentives for better employee work habits. Technology and it's cost most certainly has its place. Is this one of them? read more
