I had never heard of Uncle Giuseppe's until my mother moved to Yorktown. The way she spoke about it I thought it was a little Italian deli. I was shocked when I finally went there. The store is huge. Lots of parking in the lot. The store is clean with lots of great decor and Italian background paintings. The staff were all friendly and helpful. When I went, there was someone singing live as he walked around the store. They have tons of Italian specialty items that are both prepared or boxed. They have a great pizza shop, deli, salumeria, hot food buffet and many more great sections. Everything we tried was delicious. We bought from the pizza shop, deli and some fresh pasta and sauce. They are a little pricy, but the food is high quality. You get what you pay for. I will not mind taking a 45 minute drive every couple of weeks to enjoy their amazing food. read more

This review will definitely receive an update on our last visit. Like my previous review, they offer a lot of food, including takeout. We looked at all the dishes, and man, many decisions. I wouldn't mind sampling within a few days or even once a week if I lived close. For eating in, tables are provided just after the checkout, located straight ahead towards the windows. I know, I'm about a few years behind trying out the famous Uncle Giuseppe's. I came on a Saturday which definitely was a busy day to explore but was well worth the trip. I wasn't planning on buying much since I was traveling that week but I really liked the layout of the store and how organized everything is. Plenty of pre-made items if you're in a pinch or are heading to a party. I decided to try the Italian Sushi I heard so much about. It was definitely worth a try and you can find it at the front of the store. Next time I will try items from the espresso bar! read more

Dec 2025, my only complaint is with their homemade Meat Italian Lasagna. Where is the TOMATO SAUCE? There was only a smear on top of the Lasagna. I expect my Lasagna to have Tomato Sauce on each layer of pasta, not just cheese. This cost my family $37. I must say the Lasagna was delicious and they give you plenty of meat. To Management or the owner of Giuseppe's PLEASE TELL YOU CHEF to add Tomato Sauce to each layer and DON'T be cheap. Everything in prepared foods is SUPER SALTY! Yikes, lighten up guys we can always add salt but u cannot take it out. Great lasagna, meatballs, cutlets, eggplant etc just reheat. But the saltiness is over the top, the sauce is so good but salty, the cheese fillings salty, ingredients in meatballs is all more salty stuff especially grated pecorino cheese! I couldn't have been more delighted when they opened this Italian market. Finally in our neighborhood, a great old-fashioned establishment. The selections are fabulous and the service excellent ! Be fairly warned: this is not the type of place where you are going to go in and spend $5 (especially going down the specialty cheese aisle with all the samples out) ! However, everything is fresh and the store is always clean. It may be slightly on the expensive side but for the quality, it is well worth it. Highly recommended ! read more

Expensive. I mean really expensive but the fact is you can get things there you can't get anywhere else easily. The hot food bar is definitely a go to as well as the sandwiches and salads and their deli counter is always busy for good reason. The fruit and veg is always fresh and high quality. Great selection of cheeses, meats, fish. They have a great bakery section. Again everything is very fresh. Now the things you should know are that they have a deal for two pizza pies every Wednesday and Friday that's absolutely unbeatable. Also, the prices on the hot bar and prepacked salads and sandwiches are reduced after 7pm. There is a senior citizen's discount day... Wednesday I believe. I love shopping here and just am sad I can't do it more because I find everything they offer so very delicious. read more

This place is amazing! The quality of everything they sell is excellent! By now we must have shopped here more than a dozen times and everything we have purchased continually garners Oohs and Ahhs! Yesterday, we hosted a casual dinner party and, for the first time, had seven varieties of their Gourmet Sandwiches. They were a HUGE hit, along with their Loaded Potato Salad. While I haven't caught him singing recently, that tuxedoed gentleman, Bob DeSimone, is excellent and adds such a touch of class to the shopping experience. I have been a faithful patron since uncle g's opened in port jefferson never ever complained about the prices because the quality always justified the prices but for the last year or so I have been so disappointed with the reduced quality in the food come on guys you were one of the best markets to shop at know I buy a cake from the bakery and it is stale because its beyond it date I buy the chicken Frances prepared and the chicken has grizzle like.it wasn't trimmed I purchase the home made roast beef at the deli counter and its not cheap but the quality of the roast beef is a cheaper quality meat, I think I speak for all loyal customers of uncle Giuseppe's that we don't mind paying top dollar but you have always supplied top quality food and its just not that way anymore I realize times are hard and prices have went up I would rather pay more and receive the quality that you have always delivered PLEASE DONT BECOME LIKE THE REST OF THE STORE GET BACK TO YOUR ROOTS GOOD QUALITY FOOD read more

We have shopped there many times and while what they sell is good they don't have what is advertised. My wife came home today and said that two of the things that she went to buy that were advertised they did not have and they are not giving out rain checks. For us to go there it is about a 20 minute drive so it's inconvenient to have to go there again. This happens often, so we are thinking about not shopping there anymore. read more

Since when is it an issue on what shopping cart you use. Cashier made a rude remark because we used a bigger short over the small ones. We used the big one because we needed numerous items and figured the small one would not work. After trying to shop and not only can you not only is the flow of the store horrible, amount of staff standing around talking and blocking isles, we gave up and checked out with what we had. I would never take away a big cart for someone who needs it but I was one of those people but just got annoyed. Not to mention the store stuck and made it unbearable to shop. read more

i really enjoy shopping in this store! And i love trying their soups, sauces , hot foods etc. , baked goods etc.,This week i tried the Putta Nesca sauce (I usually make it myself with black olives , caper's , garlic ) and made it for the family with pasta. Unfortunately, it had been seasoned with an excessive amount of red pepper! So much that our mouths and lips were burning! Fantastic supermarket! BUT WARNING : DO NOT go buy their grated parmigiano reggiano cheese! They must mix it with other stuff to make more profits. Instead, buy the parmigiano reggiano BLOCK of cheese and grate it yourself. This was a most amazing experience in Food Shopping! Everything is so fresh, delicious, and authentic. I can't rave enough about this place, I wish there was one in Fairfield County Ct. I would be there every day! The employees are so courteous and helpful. They also have the best music playing, and on the weekends, you can meet the live singer, Neil Dankman who you can sing along with as I did. This is the best market! I don't understand why it only has three stars of Yelp! Everything I hve ever bought there has been superb, the turkey roasts, the chicken Francese, the chicken Marsala, their shrimp scampi, their tuna, their salmon, their own roast beef, their own turkey supreme, their rolls, their baguettes, and let us not forget their produce, and of course their Italian specialties... from cookies to crackers to cheeses. Amazing gourmet grocery store conveniently located in a plaza with a yummy bagel shop and plenty of other restaurants and shops. The selection is enormous - an in-house chocolate/candy shop, a massive selection of cheeses, wide selection of seafood including live lobster, king crab legs, and fried calamari, and a couple of free food samples scattered throughout the shop. There was also a live singer in the front of the shop by some tables you could eat at. They also have party bbq sets to go you can order ahead of time. Highly recommend! read more

We shop here nearly daily. There is so much good going on here it's crazy. The pizza is extremely good and they have great deals on it. The chopped salads are great and you can get creative with them. There are so many amazing cheeses & cured meats available your charcuterie options are infinite! The butcher shop always has some of the best meats. The fish shop has fantastic choices. Let's not forget the fresh mozzarella factory in store. The bakery is off the charts with amazing treats and fresh breads and rolls. There's a coffee station, amazing gelato is available too. Their produce is always super fresh as well. Oh wait, they have a beer fridge with amazing choices as well. We love their prepared foods and make dinner out of them 2-3x a week. The worst Customer service ever . went to the deli and ordered a sandwich . 1st they where out of many meats mostly red meats , Roast Beef . that I worked around . 2n then in the middle of making my sandwich I guess the manager called a meeting . Mean while I am waiting for the sandwich . 3rd I told the store manager and he said he would speak to the department manager . 4th beside taking so long to get the sandwich it was so sparsely filled what looks like one or maybe two very thinly cut meat and cheese and a few cut pieces of roasted peppers . 5th went back to the deli department to speak to the manager . he said that he did not know that anyone was waiting while he called the meeting . 5th after saying that the customers are so important he still did nothing . He did not even have the guy that made my sandwich apologize for the inconvenience . Husband was outside with a basket full of plants that he wanted to purchase . I told him No way was I ever going back into that store . so I made him leave them . I had a convo with someone who shops at a different UG and they love the place. Maybe because I keep expecting it to be Turco's on steroids, I'm frequently disappointed in this place. No more fresh mozzie, no more self serve olive bar (OK, I'll give you a pass on this due to Covid), no more chicken burgers. The butcher shop employees look like they don't give a hoot (OK, that's the same ). Salmon, a staple for dinner in my house, just jumped 30% in the past week. What? FINALLY the former Food Emporium when to use after like a decade of vacancy. The store itself is beautiful. The roman style columns and the sky mosaic on the ceiling are unique and impressive. I must say, I was far from impressed when they were at the former Turco's. Uncle G's has made a complete 180 since opening at their new location. The new employees are always helpful and polite. Uncle G's has the best Italian specialties. Their fresh mozzarella can rival any Arthur Ave deli. You can find just about any specialty cheese or cold cut you want at this place. The meats and produce are super fresh and top notch quality. The sushi bar is serves up quality sushi, poke bowls, and other items. The management put in a new beer cave, which is a nice addition and helps them compete with DeCicco's. DeCicco's is known for their massive beer selection, Uncle G's would be wise to enter that market too. The one downside is Uncle G's is pricey. It is a gourmet grocery store so it can't be compared to a Stop & Shop. I wouldn't come here to get a roll of toilet paper or generic items because of the premiums. I would definitely come here for their high quality meats, cheeses, bread, and cold cuts. Definitely my favorite specialty grocery store. read more

On Saturday, I was, at the last minute looking for a Filet Mignon Roast. Uncle G's had a couple left right before the Easter Holiday. Before I continue, the Filet was delicious!!! However, when I was asking the person who was helping me a couple of questions, he wasn't too knowledgeable about meat and roasts. When I asked to speak to the older gentleman, he told me that he was going to give me the same answer as he did. One of the questions, I was asking how long should I cook the 3.5lb roast for Medium Rare. The person helping me said once the interior temperature is 180 it should be good. Most butchers will tell you how long to cook the meat for. I didn't believe what was told to me. I went ahead and purchased a meat thermometer. Temperature of 180 is for meat that is very WELL DONE, certainly not medium rare. The meat was delicious, but had I listened to his instruction, my roast would have been well done and probably very chewy. Just wish that people working in departments are knowledgeable of their products. Thank you! read more
