This place has just gone down hill immensely. Used the coin star to cash in money for the Amazon e voucher. It gave me cash voucher receipt, which took away 13 dollars. Tried to talk an older woman who just kept interrupting me and got pissy when I told her to stop interrupting me and let me speak. The one man who helped me was nice and knew how to talk to customers and was able to fix the money issue, but tried to make it my fault, when the machine messed up. This is also after them getting rid of their peapod drivers and switched to instacart which was the worst decision. They just leave the stuff now and don't tell you they showed up half the time. We are switching to the Target Circle now. I'd rather drive the extra 5/10 minutes to pathmark or Whole Foods and shop. read more

Bad show! Had 3 returns, items that had sale stickers in the aisle but did not come up on sale after reviewing the receipt. Problem #1. When I approached the customer service two older women (both employees) were talking and the conversation appeared to be social. I waited for more than several minutes before the one who wasn't behind the counter finally gestured to the one who was and looking right at me that maybe she should assist me. That same woman told a coworker a minute or two later as she hovered around that they were having "girl talk". So unprofessional and not cool wasting my time. Problem #2. After I tell the woman the reason for the return she puts the correct items up on the screen only to go and change the prices and cut the return in half. I estimated getting about $20 back (it was exactly $21.78 before taxes) and all of a sudden it goes down to $9.49. The woman tells me that in fact those items were on sale. I ask if they on sale now, because they certainly were not sale priced when I purchased. She just wants to be done with me, acts like I'm an idiot and I'm tired of wasting time so I let it go. Problem #3. I go shopping for other items and cannot find any of the Mucinex I need, no store brand tissues and the mash potatoes that are on sale only one is left and it's a month expired. Problem #4. It's really disturbing me though so I pull the receipt back out and find that she circled less expensive items for the return yet on the return receipt it says the names of the actual items. Now I am not the least bit happy, that is shady. Problem #5. I re-approach her and she takes another 5-8 minutes to look the receipt over and come to the conclusion that she shorted me. I am still not sure with taxes if I received the correct amount back and a good 15-20 minutes of my time has been wasted. I'd say to the management here don't put someone behind the desk who is not competent and/or dishonest and certainly not the least bit customer service oriented. And stock your shelves! The place has an overall dingy feeling too, not fresh and clean. Will not return to this location. read more

I wouldn't give it any stars but that's not an option. I have shopped here for nearly 24 years and within the past year the food and service has declined significantly. To begin, I was very excited when they put in rotisserie ovens. The chicken was great at the beginning. Yesterday, I paid the same amount as I always did for this ridiculous chicken that fit in the palm of my hand. Not only that, they are usually over cooked and just thrown in a bag upside down. It's pathetic. My husband & I used to share one chicken - this would feed a child. I won't purchase these again until they start providing adult size chickens. Relatively speaking, this is a pretty good Stop and Shop. They are generally well stocked with the exception of the dairy department and have a wide variety of all types of grocery items. The employees at check out are usually very helpful and pleasant but the ones who work in the aisles are generally not super helpful nor friendly. When they renovated/updated the store a few years back, it definitely improved. There are generally a lot of sales/deals if you use your Stop and Shop card (aka sign up with your phone number) and the prices are really reasonable compared to other stores. While I much prefer to shop in Uncle Giuseppe's, they don't always have all the regular grocery items my family needs and they upcharge a lot for the conveneince. TLDR; An all around solid supermarket, would be much better if they better stocked their dairy items and had more friendly and helpful employees working in the aisles. read more

Most of the stuff in the store is pretty good. However, beware of the produce. It's OK if you like overripe soggy blueberries, weird honeydew melons, fruit that says tree ripen, but are like rocks, etc.. other stores go through these items and throw out the bad stuff. All these low reviews, shaddup! This is "my" Stop & Shop, it's where I'm walking in at 6am because I need toothpaste or deodorant. Also, get the Stop & Shop card! This company as well as Shell are Dutch. Your purchases add up to points that you can use at Shell. I knocked off .30 cents a gallon the other day. Go Stop. And Shop!!!!! I've seen this store change names over the years, it used to be called Finest and then Edwards. This particular Stop & Shop has everything laid out nicely, I should say familiar because I've been coming here for the past 20 something years and know where everything is located. Wanna have an amazing breakfast? Go to the deli counter and get a 1/4 pound of Boars Head american cheese. Then, walk over to the bakery and get a hot off the rack onion roll. Bring it home and marry them. Mmmm mm! Heavenly. I also like the beer sales here, every once in a while they'll have a mixed case sale or a 7.99 6 pack sale. Rock on Stop & Shop! I agree with Rod. This store is always "hit or miss". The other reviewer who mentions Market Basket in New England is a kindred spirit. I frequently shop the Market Basket in North Andover. Amazing... Not sure what could be wrong with inventory control in the East Setauket Stop & Shop. They reliably run out of basic items. Lots of times i need to go to the South Setauket store to get items I need. If it wasn't so close, I'd happily shop elsewhere. read more

This store leaves a lot to be desired. The employees are friendly enough, but the store is very poorly stocked. They are regularly out of many items -- Nature's Promise milk, half and half to name a couple. Many of the shelves have huge empty spaces. The vegetables in the freezer section seem to be just tossed in randomly. I recently visited a friend in Massachusetts and went to a Market Basket there. The difference was night and day. Every shelf was fully stocked and they have employees who walk around filling in gaps and straightening items. That's the difference between a family run grocery store that cares and a big corporate chain like S&S. read more

Tired of poor attitudes of customer service and shouldn't need customer service at a well functioning store. Despicable at best. The store digital coupons are a load of garbage and managers have acknowledged to me it is their biggest problem and will override the system without a problem. Unfortunately, Angela at customer dis service is pathetically rude and plays on her phone and can't be bothered assisting. The latest encounter with Anji was after notifying the manager I would need the digital coupon put into register. The manager told me to tell Angela to do it. When my cashier requested digital coupon assistance, Anji came over and told me she doesn't care what the manager says, she's not doing it anymore and "you were told" to call to get the app. I have the app and on two occasions I had managers assist me in getting updates but both times they could not get it to work. If your system can't be maneuvered by a manager, time to change your system. Angela never, over the numerous times the issue came up, ever attempted to assist. I love this Stop and Shop! I have been going there for at least 10 years getting prescriptions for my parents and now me. The cashiers up front seriously treat me like family, especially MiMI and Geri. They look out for me, and we worry about each other when any of the others aren't there. They are always so happy and cheerful, sure, maybe you can save 5 cents at another, but I have not found any other places that has staff that treat me so well. Five stars all day long! read more

Stop and Shop is on a campaign to get rid of employees and replace them with self check out counters. The episode today at the local Stop & Shop in East Setauket convinced me. Although I had heard that before. The idea is to let the lines grow to 6 to 7 people in each register. After waiting there for a while until patience runs low and the customer decides to go to the self check out. I decide to go to the service-counter and complained to Tara. She rudely barked back : " I am trying to find people ok ?" when she finally found a girl to tend the register. I went up to her. Tara now reprimanded her for not saying: "next in line !" To exclude me. Which would have meant 6 people backing off their shopping carts full of groceries to allow that one person next in line to go to the newly open register. ( hellooo ! A little common sense maybe ) IQ and being polite is not the scheme here obviously. I was glad that Stop&Shop re-opened , new and improved but it has many wrinkles that management should address. Shop-Rite is only 7 minutes away. The idea that after i shop for one hour i have to work for them for free to enrich further a billionaire corporation while i take someone's job is not pleasant. I have been shopping at this Stop & Shop off and on for nine years only because it is by far the most convenient location. I have consistently been amazed by the lack of customer service. Most of the time the employees don't even acknowledge my presents, no smile, small talk, nor do they offer assistance is bagging my groceries, like many other store do. On a few occasions I have help an elderly shopper bag their groceries because the checker made no attempt to help. I have come to the conclusion that the management at this store puts no time and effort in training or expecting employees to be friendly or assisting customers in any way. When I have the time, I drive out of my way to shop at other stores, because the majority of the time I leave this location amazed at how unhappy and unfriendly these employees appear to be. read more

They have a great organic selection, grass-fed meats, and good fair prices. It is often very crowded though and the parking situation is not designed for the volume of people coming and going. It seems like they are re-arranging and restocking in the store every time I go, and I don't always go at the same time of the day (it varies), but I invariably feel like I am in the way of the staff with their large carts everywhere all of the time. It feels chaotic in here to me. Miller Place location is also very busy at times, but I find I am able to get around more easily (not banging into people) and check out more smoothly than this one. read more

I've been going here since the days of "Finest" and "Edwards," so I have seen it all. This is largely a typical Stop & Shop, with a decent selection of produce and grocery items. It even has a bank and a pharmacy just like most of the newer locations around Long Island. Most of the issues here revolve around layout of the store and the parking lot... But thankfully the customer service is here to ruin your day! Traffic here can be rough due to its prime location off of 25A in Setauket (which can be a total nightmare to get or shop at during the week). During the off hours, it is pretty easy to find what you want. The produce section is usually very good, although any packaged veggies are limited in variety with particularly poor quality. Like most places, customer service is what makes or breaks a location. Granted, Three Village is home to plenty of people who are up their own ass at all hours of the day, but to have cashiers and other employees to act so disinterested in helping customers is off putting. There are a few standouts but chances are you will find one smug, unproductive drone one after another. The Peapod home delivery service is available from this location, but it is plagued with human errors. You will either get part of another customer's order OR not get your own order. If you like to avoid human contact at all costs, then you've come to the right grocery store! However if you want to deal with actual people with a pulse, head to King Kullen or Wild By Nature; after all, you have options in this shopping center. read more

When there to get cold cuts. The guy cutting the cold cuts keeps stopping to talk to his friends. When I tell him I'd like him to finish cutting my food, he tells me he can stop and talk to his friends any time he likes and if I don't like it he'll move on to another customer. If your store hours show you are open until 11:00 pm then I SHOULD be able to walk in at 10:45 simply planning to get a few things and get out the door WELL BEFORE 11:00 without being ordered to the check stand 5 minutes later and made to feel like I am intruding on your business. I'd rather drive 20 minutes and find a store with employees who understand that I am the reason they have a job than to ever set foot in this store again. I've been going to this Stop and Shop location for years, mostly out of convenience. Compared to the King Kullen next door, Stop and Shop has larger aisles, a greater selection, and a more "happening" atomosphere. My only complaint is that it's pretty expensive and the sales aren't nearly as extensive as the Pathmark in Port Jefferson. Bottom Line: This Stop and Shop is convenient and has a great selection, but you'll pay for it. read more

I would give zero stars if I could! we did an order for peapod delivery for my father in law. The delivery driver arrived 16 minutes before our 2 hour window. He was on his way home and they could not wait. We asked if they could come back at the end of the shift and the dispatcher Danielle said that the drivers gps was dead and there was no way to get the food. I then asked if I can just come pick it up and she said most of the food would be thrown out.... What???? Then she said customer care would call me... at 7:54pm but they closed at 7pm! Waiting for the store manager Barbara to call me.... I won't hold my breath! So literally no one cares about the customer. As a consumer I am so dissatisfied that I am telling every person I know to NEVER shop at this store or the company and to NEVER order peapod. read more

New to the area and I'm still learning which stores I like. The traffic on the North Shore is absolutely HORRIBLE. Anyway, I love Stop and Shop; however, this Stop and Shop has few of the items that I normally purchased at the other Stop and Shop on Pond Path by Best Buy/Home Depot/Chilis. Their organic section is limited to 1 aisle, where the other Stop and Shop has a whole large section. The one plus is that Wild By Nature is in the same shopping center as this Stop and Shop, so I go there for my meat and other gluten free products. I understand the 1 aisle is because there's a space issue, but in a neighborhood that is pretty health conscious, you would think they would have a much larger selection. read more

I come here with my boyfriend a lot, and this is the supermarket where his family does his shopping. We are loyal stop and shop customers. The other night, it was at night, and all of the registers were empty me and my boyfriend were doing the self check out. All of the employees were free, not busy, just sitting around with each other. When I asked for help, they seemed very annoyed as if they were busy, (they were literally sitting there it was almost closing hours). The young man and woman came over to help us, swiped there card and left, very bad attitude. Another problem occured so I ask the young man for help. He replies in a nasty tone " what do you want help with " please note he is a couple registers down, he is sitting and not willing to help me at all. Neither is anyone else. One of the ladies answer me from a far, but no one came over to help us physically. Bad attitudes, not willing to help. I'm very upset with the employees. read more

i normally don't write yelp reviews but unfortunately my experience here was just not right. I walked in there with my 1 year old to food stop quick while I'm also 9 months pregnant, i fully went shopping and when i got to the register it all went down hill. My husband forgot to give me back my card in the morning so unfortunately didn't have my card on me, i thought i might of left it in my sons diaper bag. I left the cart at the register and went to my car, at this time my son was screaming because he wanted the fly swatter he was obsessed with around the store. when i called my husband (now crying because i thought i lost it ) he told me he had it and will just spend me a picture of it or could read me off the numbers. When i went back in the lady at customer services to explain what happened she was so rude and nasty to me, its my name on the card and i have my licenses on me to prove who i am. I don't know if its a store rule or not but i could of understand if its was but she could of just explain it to me nicely, i was clearly getting emotional. I usually do the pea pod order through them because of me being pregnant and having my 15 month old but this time i decided to go there to get a few things i needed for tonight. Today is the last day i will step foot in ANY stop and shop and i will no longer being doing my pea pods from them. I will also make sure my family and friends do not use this stop and shop. Been living in this town my entire life...At this point, the only reason why I step foot into this store, is because unfortunately, nothing else is open near by in town by the time I get off work (early AM), and I can usually find my basic need in grocery...Nothing too special. I like to avoid this store in particular because of the lethargic, disinterested, and even possibly myopic customer service provided. It makes me wonder if something is up with management there, or if these workers are really just a result of some of the many un-cultured snobs that teem within the Setauket shore area. Each time I step foot in that store, you can nearly smell the groon of somebody elses misery, instead of the smell of your fresh produce first hand.
