Love this store but the soup station needs some loving. I've always avoided the soup station because I was never sure which pot was which, but after lifting lids one can guess or ask. Another customer and I did our best at figuring out the soups, then the lids was an entirely different issue. Some had soup on them already, were in disarray, and none fit my cup size. The other customer ended up consolidating his 2 into 1 in order to accommodate. Again, I do love this store and the options they provide, but there are some awkward areas that haven't been figured out. Another example is the end cap in the veggie section that faces the asparagus and lettuces. It always has strange items there, some requiring refrigeration that I can't imagine are staying cold there. I think this place is lovely, just need a little extra love. read more

Somewhat ridiculous prices and a rather pitiful vegetable selection. You want fresh organic string beans? Not gonna find em here. They have 2 options for string beans and they both come in prepackaged plastic bags and are ALWAYS about 4 days away from expiring and look limp and brownish. And one of the two options isn't even organic. The broccoli heads are almost always discolored and yellow. Be sure to check them rigorously for bugs. Yeah I had the misfortune of getting an infested bunch there before. (On the plus side guess that means it really is pesticide free?) Stop and Shop has nearly as many organic options for a much fairer price. Organic strawberries at Wild By Nature for $15 or organic strawberries at Stop and Shop for $7? Hmmm. And if you want to return something they need to see your license and have you sign a form. Lol ok. As for positives? The place smells real nostalgic- just like it did in the 90's. Walk in and take a deep breath and it instantly brings back memories of coming in here as a kid. And the gentlemen who runs seafood department is quite friendly (When they have fish). read more

happy about their removing mask mandates, although this store needs a serious overhaul. I shop here occasionally because it's close, but every time I leave there I'm wondering who's running this outfit. Prices are absolutely ridiculously high. They're selling a small container of strawberries right now for $16. All of their prices are higher than Whole Foods, not sure how that's even possible. I've never once seen any staff offer to help find something (except a butcher and one cashier once) but when you ask, some of them seem helpful enough. The rest of the staff look like they don't want to be there. Believe me, we don't want to be either. I remember decades ago when this place opened, it was much busier and they were doing some cool things. Now it's almost always pretty empty with a few shoppers here and there and has a depressing vibe, and I never spend longer in there than I absolutely need to. Wild By Nature gets a 5 star review? Oh yeah baby cakes! This place reminds me of shopping in Brooklyn as a kid. Its a one stop shop for everything "great". Flowers - Yes! When I need flowers the first place I go is WBN (Wild by Nature). They have a great selection all under 20 bucks. The greeting cards are also cute for my sweetheart. Bakery - I love their bakery: sourdough breads, rye breads, raisin breads, french/italian breads. They also sell a DYNAMITE German chocolate cake. Butcher - Great meat selection but pricey. Since they are organic, the steaks don't have the bugabooties that supermarket meats have in their meats. I love their frozen raviolis! They have a few selections other than cheese like lobster! Fish - How can you get more organic than fish? They do have a nice selection but I don't buy fish here too often. Dairy - They start to lose me with the different milks and tofus. They do offer many different types for those who have a jones for silken tofu. BEER - Yeah beer. They have a nice selection of imported beers. WBN has the goods to make a nice romantic dinner for your honey: A few T-bones, with a 1/2 pound of Orzo salad, maybe a Sushi starter, as well as a nice salad (throw some oranges in) and a fruit sorbet for after dinner. I was in the store on Sat. in the late morning. Nick, at the deli, was great! Because I have food sensitivities, I carefully read labels & ingredients. He actually asked me if I was trying to avoid any foods. I told him I need to avoid nightshades & asked to sample the quinoa salad which did not list nightshades. To my surprise, there was minced red pepper in it, which I promptly spat out. I thanked Nick, who told me he'd let them know in the back that an ingredient that was not listed on the label was in the quinoa salad. I also spoke to the manager. He said they'd correct the label to include the ingredient. I was hoping he'd say that the minced red pepper would no longer be included as an ingredient. They don't do cooking on site anymore. WBN gets soups & many prepared foods from outside vendors--resulting in more salt & a sharp decline in quality. WBN's web site claims that they are a "full service market" w/ a "commitment to promoting wellbeing." Maybe for people who place catering orders, but not for the rest of us. read more

I love wild by nature for so many things and I often stop in for a sit down lunch! I shop here because it's so easy to find all my cruelty free products and they have such a great selection of makeup and body products like lotion and toothpaste and even cruelty free detergent and razors! Their bakery is fantastic, I actually prefer to come here for birthday cakes and anything like that instead of a traditional bakery. Right next to their bakery is an awesome deli set up with lots of cold and hot- ready to eat foods. They always have about 9 different kinds of soup also. Fresh made sushi and a unique selection of fresh fish. They have a sweet juice bar right in back that has their own register also so you can pick something out and eat it right there. The flowers they stock also! Wow! Again, I come here instead of a traditional florist. If you are looking for some organic, cruelty free or natural type products defiantly stop in here!!!! read more

I really want to love this store.. but it is so frustrating how often I accidentally purchase expired items. I just about lost a tooth biting into a protein bar I bought yesterday that expired 8 months ago! This happens far too often. Not my usual review (I like to stick with restaurants) but Wild By Nature is a Setauket standard and has a good variety to offer for lunch. The best part about this place is their lunch "stirfry" bar. AMAZING! For around 5 bucks you can get a tasty stirfry that you know is healthy. Their Sushi is also very good and I love that they use brown rice as well as white. They also have some great soups. The Tomato Bisque is not to be missed! On the downside, their grocery prices are pricey compared to their competition (Whole Foods, Trader Joes). However, I will return though for their wonderful lunch options and helpful staff. read more

The store is set up to look real pretty but the prices aren't quite so pretty. I figured perhaps Wild By Nature would have products ( produce particularly) that is hard to find in my regular local supermarket. Frankly it was no different than anything they sell in Shoprite or Stop & Shop, just 3x more expensive. I ended up walking out empty handed because I just couldn't fathom paying almost $10 for a tiny head of lettuce, $7.00 for a loaf of bread or $8 for the same bag of ravioli I could purchase in ShopRite for $3.99. read more

Wild by Nature is a great health Foods store & carries such a variety of product. From amazing food, produce, essential oils and healthy supplements... they always have whatever I need. I use a lot of holistic and natural medicine, and Wild By Nature is always where I go to pick up anything I need. They have a very big section of vitamins, supplements, oils and more. I also decided to get lunch while I was roaming around one time, and the chicken stir fry was awesome. I was surprised at how good it was, as I didn't expect to get a great lunch in the middle of my grocery shopping. I have enjoyed going to wild by nature for years. It has that small town health food store feel in a lot of ways. It is rather small, which I prefer because it's easy to get shopping done. Do I go there n a regular basis? No. I wouldn't be able to afford to. It is wonderful if you are looking for nice organic produce, but organic produce is expensive no matter where you go. I shop there for produce only- then supplement other things with cheaper stores. I also enjoy the metaphysical supplies, such as inscents, soaps, oils and whatnot. They have a nice selection of organic beauty care items as well. I used to really like he stir fry bar. You can get a nice meal for about 6 dollars. But I had an unpleasant experience there the other day. The lady running he stir fry bar was deep in conversation with the 2 other customers there. I waited there 5 minutes. She said she would call someone else over to help me. I waited another 5 minutes. No one came over so I decided to do some shopping and come back. 10 minutes later it is still the same woman working behind the bar ( I thought she was going home for the night because she said she was calling someone else over to help me- why wouldn't SHE help me?) I wait again and she is still in conversation and doesn't help me. Poor customer service. I would have ordered a few things but decided not to, because i was so put off by this. A big reason I go there is because I like to have a nice lunch while i do my shopping. Next time I will go somewhere else, like back to basics in rocky point. Recently I got married. My friend who has since moved to NC came up to be my best man. He is a native NY'er and has become Vegan. Destination 1 was Bagels. Unlike most bagel shops in the city L.I. doesn't cater to the Vegans W/ Tofu Cream Cheese. So, I texted my homey Andre he told me to checkout Wild by Nature. I'm glad I did. No, we never made it for the Non-Dairy cream cheese Eric couldn't wait he went with Margarin or Hummus to spread on the bagel. I did however get over to Wild by Nature for some ingredients I needed for a vegetarian Sloppy Joe recipe. Great store, fresh breads, bigger than a mom and pop health food store and smaller than the bigger chains like Whole Foods. They seem active in the local astrology and crunchy well being local stuff. I bought around 23 dollars 3 lunch boxes.the BBQ tofu is so so hard not fresh and taste bad..: the pork is ok but also I can tell is not fresh... The basil in the tomato basil soup taste not like basil at all, but random leaves, and if you know what 3 days old hot soup taste like then you know it sucks... I am deathly allergic to peanuts, tree-nuts and soy and all soy derivatives (natural flavors, soy lecithin and stearic acid, to name a few) and I have found several products in the baking aisle of this store that I can have with no problems. This store is amazing for people who are on special diets due to allergies, crohn's or celiac disease. I love Wild by Nature. Their prices on some things can be admittedly high, but I find that they often have items I can't find anywhere else, and for some of their organic meats and meat free options, their prices are actually better than the standard grocery store. Aside from buying meat and the occasional soy product here, I find their grab and go counters to be AWESOME. The stir fry here is great (if you have time to wait, they are slow), and it is incredibly inexpensive for the massive portion you get. The sushi counter is always well stocked and they will make custom rolls for you if you don't see what you want. I like that they will make the sushi with brown rice if you want. I am also partial to their chicken salad, which tastes awesome on their health bread. Again, the sandwich prices are very fair for what you get. Their bakery has some nice options, like beautifully made breads and delcious chocolate crackle cookies, and even fresh hamburger and hot dog rolls. They also have a nice, but small salad bar. They have bulk bins with delicious granola, specialty grains and other items you typically see in "health food" supermarkets. I also like their in-house made nut butters (although they don't have a grind your own like some bigger stores). They also have a great selection of home care and beauty items, including makeup and nail polish. A small dutch petals counter for fresh flowers always has gorgeous bouquets for a reasonable price. read more
