Usually I love this stop and shop but lately they've been slacking. They always seem busy which is great for them. Sometimes the workers could be in a mood but that's anywhere. Recently I've been sad about their food selections. Fruit looks skeptical, the mold picture isn't front this week it was probably two weeks ago I just forgot to share. Electric scooters suck and never worked right . Self checkout is always broken. Bakery department needs help badly. Bottle room needs a good cleaning and updating. I only have one thing to say: Why would anyone think that putting eggs at the bottom of a bag with a bunch of stuff on top a good idea? I have never worked at a grocery store, but as a young yelper my mother taught me that you never put other objects on top of eggs. It's an automatic no no. You would think every grocery store would teach anyone who will be bagging this basic bagging rule. Stop and shop as far as supermarket chains go it's a good one it's not down south where we live but when we're up north we do most of their shopping there up north who you are to get over the $.10 per plastic bag charges. One of the better Stop and Shops around. Parking is a bit frightful, but the products and cleanliness definitely make this place worth stopping in. The organic section has stuff that I have not seen in any of the 12 stop and shops spanned across 5 cities in CT (though I forgot what Windsor's was like). Staff seemed very friendly, but a bit slow. Lines were almost out the door and it was 4pm on a Sunday afternoon. Used to come here all the time when I went to school at Post and never had a complaint. I would definitely recommend taking a trip to this location even if you are a few towns away just to stop in the Organic section. If you are local, it is just an added bonus. read more

No matter what time of day I go, there is never a manager available near the registers. The self check outs always need a key holder to come over and assist and even if the cashiers have a problem, no one is available to help. They get 2 stars simply because the people who are working up front are nice, not helpful but nice. Understanding there is a labor shortage but promote someone who does work up front so they can at least do some thing. read more

Who is the rocket scientist who came up with the line for the checkout? One big cluster f**k, won't be going back! If they utilized the two employees it takes to make this cluster work at two additional registers we would have no line! It doesn't work the way you think it does, I'm standing in this long line blocking access to product on the shelf I'm standing in front of with customers cutting between people in line, not staying 6 ft apart. Plus I'm with my elderly mom who had to do more walking to get to this ridiculous line, other stores are not doing this they have more registers open to eliminate the line. read more

Horrible corporate or management decision to completely change everything around during COVID. Now everybody is walking around lost looking for product that they actually no longer carry. It should have stayed the same so people can get in and out quickly. The entire natural good food section is gone, and a few organic products are now scattered among all of the other genetically modified junk food. Staffing issues related to Covid are certainly understood. What I do not understand is being told by the assistant manger, Ashley, at 5:20pm, that my order scheduled for 4-5 pm pick up was just being shopped. This was after receiving a call requesting that I not arrive until after 5pm. 5:40 pm and still no sign of my order. Communication is very poor. You should be given the option to cancel if the store is unable to complete your order due to unforeseen circumstances. Poor customer service. Unnecessary waste of my time. read more

I am very happy with the help I received from the manager of the store Ellen McCue and her assistant Taryn for taking the time to help me with a problem I was having with the scanner that I used to shop with. I don't know what is going on with this location, but it's getting the point where I dread going there. There's so much stocking of the shelves going on that it's often very difficult to get items off the shelves or even your cart down the isle. The produce has been really lacking in quality and the checkout experience is a nightmare. The poor cashiers are doing double duty by having to bag as well and it really slows everything down. The allowance of local schools accosting right outside the doors is ridiculous. read more

This is one of the better Stop & Shops in the entire state! While it is not all that big of one, it seems to always have the best selection, best sales, and best service in the Waterbury area. If you live anywhere near Waterbury - don't bother with the rundown shackles of a Stop & Shop in Waterbury... and don't even bother with Naugatuck either.... just come straight to Watertown and save yourself a lot of trouble and disappointment. read more

This is the Stop & Shop I usually go to when I go to them at all. It's clean, staff is helpful and courteous. Aside from that, prices aren't anything special; quality control seems better than in the Southbury store. But overall, produce and meats are simply adequate at best and sometimes not even that. It's not even worth going for the gas credits, any more. More and more I shop at Stew Leonard's in Danbury, even though it's out of the way - because the quality is superior and service incomparable. read more

I'm very disappointed in the florist dept. they transferred the manager Chris to another store. She seriously was the best!!! The people they have in there now are no where as talented as she is. First off, this grocery store is not for those with shallow pockets. Everything here is overpriced and expensive. Aside from that, they do offer their own brand in many different items as well, which is helpful if you're on a budget. It is usually very clean and kept up with inside. When it comes to cashing out, always expect a long wait. They offer a Scan It thing to help speed up the process but the register to check you out with it never works, this defeating the purpose. The self check out lanes always have super long lines as well. There is a Redbox machine by the bakery entrance inside as well as a pharmacy and Peoples Bank. The parking lot is large and accompanying, and they also have a recycling center. Overall, I would give this store 3 stars for it's cleanliness, continence, and large food selection. read more

Just had a pretty interesting experience here. I Shop here often in fact I'm in here about 3 times a week for one thing or another. Usually the time spent here is uneventful but this evening was by far the most uncomfortable shopping experience I have encountered... Lately I have been using the self scan because its super convenient and really fast. The self checkout this even was supervised by a woman named nancy who has given me problems before. She will inspect my bags and ask to look at my receipt and yes I know this is her job to ensure there is no theft but I cant help but feel singled out. Tonight nancy stopped me before making my transaction and asked to me to remove everything from my bags. Once everything was taken out of the bags she proceeded to tell me that there are things missing. I let her riffled through my groceries and found that I had forgotten to scan an item. She rudely pointed out that I cant just forget to scan things and would have to speak to a manager before I can re scan. Once I was able to rescan all my things she stood right next to me insisting that she do ot for me. It was extremely uncomfortable and embarrassing to be honest. I am not sure why this woman (Nancy) feels the need to single me out and like I said this was not the first time. Perhaps the color of my skin might suggest to her that I am some how deserving to be place under scrutiny. I certainly hope this is not the case. read more

This is usually the Stop and Shop I frequent because it is closest to my home. The employees are generally helpful and friendly. I like to use the self-checkout option because I'm a little OCD about bagging my groceries. The employee named Tony works in this area and is very, very helpful and friendly. I've been to many Stop and Shops where the employees stationed in the self-checkout area are annoyed and unhelpful. A little kindness goes a long way! read more

This is a terrible grocery store that frustrates me every time I enter. It's hard to describe all the reasons why, but here are a few. The small things all add up to a store that is obviously not run well. 1. The signs for the aisles are not complete and do not actually say what is in the aisle, especially from the back of the store. 2. The meat is thrown in a pile in the fridge. 3. The deli is over priced, stuck in a corner, does not have an easy to read menu, and is staffed by people that don't seem to know how to slice meat. 4. Things are in weird places that make you run around the store multiple times. For instance, I asked about pizza dough and it was located beside the potatoes for some reason and ended up being $2 for about half a pound. 5. The bread is in a random aisle. 6. The place is big but half the space is used up by various sundries that you need to skip over to get to the frozen section. 7. There aren't enough cashiers. 8. The prices are too high. 9. The carts are all broken. 10. The parking lot has huge potholes and is difficult to go in and out of. These are just a few of the issues. It is like they never updated anything in their business plans since the eighties. Stop and Shop as a whole needs to look at other grocery stores for inspiration. Locally this would include Big Y or Caraluzzi's. More broadly they should look at Wegman's in New York and Publix down south. The fact that people are giving this travesty of a store more than two stars indicates that people don't know what a good grocery store actually looks like, or have no frame of reference. read more

So The GM called me before I could see her which was great. Thank you Mary. I went this evening and saw the Hispanic female whose name I still dont know (LOL) 3 times. Once when I walked in and I said hi to her and the deli worker with her. The friendly deli worker(wish I knew her name she is great .sorry) said hello but she said "Oh my god" as I turned my back. I saw her again at the register and thanked her for suggestion I talk to the manager but this time she turned away and would not look at me. For the third time as I was walking out saw her at the managers station and I said have a nice night and she turned her head in disgust while rolling her eyes. Thought people should know!!! Can someone please tell the cashiers that they need to focus on the customer and on scanning the items! My cashier was carrying on an intense conversation with the bagger. So much so, that she rang up the incorrect price and had to void it. Socialize on your own time, not on mine! Makes me hate going to this store. Floral Department, I want to give a major shout out to the floral department at the Watertown Location. I called there just 30 days prior to my daughter's wedding on August 30th when we decided our original choice of a florist was not the right one. Everyone in this department, Robin, Linda and Kris were extremely willing to help us and this was a large wedding order. Robin was especially helpful with design of the centerpieces and especially with detail for the bridal party. The cost was so affordable we recommend anyone having a wedding go there first for a quote. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous and everything went off without a problem right down to the woman who delivered the entire order to the reception.
