I have been a long-time tenant at Storage Post Yonkers, storing thousands of dollars' worth of personal and professional belongings tied to my career in automotive, healthcare, fitness equipment, and cleaning machines. Throughout the years, I have always paid on time (with the rare exception of expiring cards), kept my units tidy, and never left behind garbage. I've generally gotten along with staff, though turnover has been frequent. Unfortunately, my experience with the current lead staff has been extremely negative. Before I even opened an additional unit, I was recovering from a work-related injury and on workers' compensation. At that time, I asked if my rent increase could be reconsidered due to my financial situation. The lead staffer refused, showing no empathy for my circumstances as a long-term paying customer. Later, when I did open another unit, he misled me regarding a promised rental rebate, failed to properly process a transfer for my employer, and only sent incomplete or generic paperwork. After realizing I could not rely on his follow-through, I stopped engaging with him directly. Instead of maintaining professionalism, the lead staff responded with ongoing sarcasm and targeted remarks whenever we crossed paths. This behavior escalated to harassment over the span of a year. Most recently, after I returned from traveling for work, he publicly confronted me about picking up a package "late," despite my decade-long history of never having an issue with packages at this facility. When I expressed my frustration, he escalated the situation, chasing after me in an aggressive manner and threatening to terminate my rental. In my view, the lead staff has abused his authority and acted unprofessionally, creating unnecessary hostility toward a long-term tenant. My career and life's investments are stored at this facility, and it is unacceptable that they are being jeopardized over personal grievances rather than company policy. read more

I BELIEVE THE MANAGER (Ahjenay Santana) had something to do with it. -Police informed me upon arrival robberies happen very often -Manager Ahjenay Santana never contacted corporate. she claimed she did not have any means of contact for the corporate office. -I googled the corporate number and spoke with the corporate customer service. They informed me they were not even aware of the robbery. (Shady). -Took over 4 months to receive the insurance payment. DO NOT STORE YOUR ITEMS HERE. The service is absolutely five stars. Both Alex and Livan were extremely helpful in finding the right unit size for me and were very patient and kind during the process (moves can be stressful!). However, I have to take two stars away for the loading dock / parking situation. If you are coming with a car - you shouldn't have a problem, but getting a box truck to the loading dock is difficult as cars are parked haphazardly and the alley is very tight. read more

And to add their were over $2,000 in damages and he only offers to give $350 for me having insurance over 2 years . This place is infested and they are not reliable nor care about anyone's personal belongings .I would never recommend anyone to use this storage unless you take the risk of losing valuable items and the company ripping us off. They stole items from my storage. I had been behind on payments and they informed me that if I didn't make a payment by a certain time that my items would go for auction. I went made the payment.....in time and found that there were several items removed from my storage. They had replaced the lock and put a seal on it so no one else could enter it. When they removed the seal, I found my items gone. No video footage as of yet, no reporting on who was the person ON STAFF that cut off the lock. This is by far the absolute WORST storage facility there has to be anywhere!! After being flooded twice in the same unit (and asking to be transferred after the first flood and being guaranteed it won't happen again, but it did), I was finally transferred to another floor. Upon arriving last evening with 3 carloads of furniture, I am greeted with signs that the elevators ARE OUT OF ORDER. NICE!!! How does a storage facility run their business with non-working elevators? However, the elevator was working in the adjacent building (but the button to ring the elevator wasn't, so "Mgt" requests you stick your finger inside the square hole to find a small piece to push to ring the elevator, see pic. - why Mgt. wouldn't realize this is against all fire codes and the chance of being electrocuted is pretty high and just dam right STUPID! I would literally have to push carts about a mile away to my unit with an abundance of furniture. We unloaded prior to knowing the elevators were not working and had to reload everything. Customer service lacks in every way and guess what... we are notified they are raising the already overpriced rates. Don't walk away from this place - RUN!! You can most definitely find another storage facility with management that at least has some sort of managerial skills, as this place has nothing but a bunch of morons running it. I rented a small unit from them for several months and was glad when I got my stuff out of there. The inside is just like one of those insane asylums that you see in video games. It's dark, creepy, with old metal doors, floors, and walls, and it's wouldn't be a surprise if some disfigured human experiment gone wrong thing started shambling out around the corner. One time we dropped our keys on the floor and it fell through the grate floor to the floor below. I had made my unit reservation sight-unseen based on the good yelp reviews. When we showed up there with our moving truck, there were a few unpleasant surprises. The one staff member who's there, although professional, was super swamped with customers from day one and every day since I've gone. When you go into the trailer office (they are remodeling), you'll likely be 5th in line to talk to the one staff. And whenever he shows a unit, he locks up the trailer office so that you and everyone else need to wait outside on the sidewalk until he returns (hope the weather is nice!). There is also no parking lot to speak of, just an alleyway where other cars and trucks need to squeeze by your parked vehicle to get to other buildings in the alleyway. Most times when I came to the unit, I had to park across the street and then schlep my stuff to and from the building. So if you see people carting offball stuff across the street in that area, they might not actually be homeless. The prices are the cheaper than the nicer nearby places. If I was planning to stary for longer, I probably would have moved. The regular large padlock that works fine at every other storage place doesn't actually fit in the door holes here. We had to buy a new small keylock (from them) the day we moved in. I've rented from 2 other storage places in Westchester before this one and this is the only one that mis-charged me on the bill. They also said that I didn't pay my deposit fee when I had already while making the reservation on the phone. To their credit, they did remedy the charges after a couple of phone calls. Though when I got the same mis-charges again on my second month's bill and found that they had padlocked my unit, that wasn't pleasant. The staff person fixed it (again) after I waited for him downstairs while he was showing a unit. What a waste of time! So if you are interested in a unit here, I strongly suggest checking it out in person first. PROS: cheap, staff, availability of carts CONS: creepy, repeated mistakes on bill, only one staff person, no parking lot, the one ramp is often packed with trucks and cars read more

The rents continue to increase--in my case, twice in a 12-month period. The most recent is for this month, September, and the letter is dated August 31st so that I have no choice but to pay this second increase. I will also complain to the Better Business Bureau and will phone Yonkers to discuss. This is simply unfair and wrong, And there is no oversight. And the so-called administrative fee is a joke because the fellow who checked us in was slow and slovenly, unhelpful and unfriendly. Moreover, the space first s how to us was unsafe and not at all easy to access, so on the spot we took a larger space and accepted the increase for an easier-to-access space. This place has been great for us for the last 2 years, my sister moved back home and had no place to put some, our furniture storage unit was a very good size and very furniture affordable. I cancelled and moved out today although I had been charged over the weekend they were able to refund me. The staff is so nice and although they recently raised the prices (only $5) now you have 24/7 access which is soooo much better! We just bought a house so we no longer need the storage but I had a very good experience. Thank you!! read more

Last summer I decided to quit my job and head for South America. In the midst of all this I had to find a place that my boyfriend and I could store all of our stuff so we could at least come back to NYC and have some things still. I searched high and low to find the cheapest place around. Post Self Storage in Yonkers is definitely a steal and the cheapest place you will find, TRUST ME, I did all the legwork already. We ended up getting like a medium sized unit, on the top floor (but there are elevators) and it run us about %60 a month, but the first 2 months were half off. It seems as though they are always having some promotion like that, so be sure to check their website. Anyway, it's a no frills place, but it has everything you need. Carts to wheel your stuff, elevators, a parking lot (so you can park your uhaul),boxes and moving supplies for sale, and a helpful staff. They have decent hours so it isn't like you can never find time to go. It is in the Yonkers, and you do need a car to get there, but its only like 20 minutes to the city. We rented a cheap Uhaul and it took us about 4 hours to get all of our stuff loaded, brought to our apartment, moved in, and returned the uhaul. I would definitely use Post Self Storage again and recommend it to anyone looking not to pay out of their ass for a little space.... read more

I just wrapped up a two-year occupancy of a 6'x10' unit up on the fifth floor. Everything about this place was great. Ken McGuire, the manager, was very helpful when I first contacted them. On the day of my move-in, the computer system was down, but the office folks did everything by hand since I had a truckload of items. It was a little awkward having to use a dumbwaiter, but for the price of the unit, it was worth it. There was never a line for the elevator, there were always carts available, and the office staff was always helpful. The building seemed completely secure. My only issue with the place is the parking area. If everyone just had cars, it would be great... there are spots for about a dozen vehicles. However, the area is very narrow and even a small box truck needs to park diagonally across multiple spots. Also, no loading dock for larger trucks. For the price, location, service and safety, this Storage Post location will be the first storage business that I look at if the need arises again in the future. read more

WARNING! This location (and probably the entire corporation) has shady business practices. I have stored with plenty other businesses and never had an issue until I made the mistake of storing items for my sister over the summer at this storage facility. They are poorly staffed and have poor customer service with one person handling the front desk. This means that calls are either never picked up or returned when promised. There is no internal management who handles matters so everything must be filtered to a man named Mohammed who does not return phone calls and can't be reached....ever. As a yelper stated below, they make it difficult for people to cancel with them or handle discrepancies. Any issues caused by this incompetence becomes the liability of the customer. I am currently looking to report them to the Better Business Bureau as they have left me with an unfair debt as a result of their inability to communicate or handle matters. I am also moving forward with practicing my legal rights if they continue to refuse to return phone calls. There is a Storage facility on every corner, there is no logical reason to deal with them!!! BEWARE OF THE BAIT AND SWITCH!!! I was lured into Storage Post by remarkably low rates. Sixty bucks for a 5x9 room is great for the area, I had been paying over double that for a larger space in Eastchester, so I downsized, got rid of stuff and moved. Within 4 months, my rent doubled!!! I spoke to the manager, Muhammed, who explained to me that they need to double rent to "keep up with property taxes, and other expenses." Really. After an an exasperating exchange, Muhammed agreed, as a special exception, to "lower" my rent $100 from $120. I wanted to get out, and fin anywhere else, but it sucks to move, which is what they obviously count on. Still, $100 for that amount of space is competitive in the market, but not nearly as alluring, especially for a totally inferior space. To get into the details: What the other Yelpers is true. The space is dingy and dark and musty. It used to be a factory, and storage post did the absolute minimum to subdivide it turn it into storage space. Personally, the ambiance doesn't matter to me, it's not my home, it's a place for things. But when the a/c went out in the summer, my LP records were damaged. I was paying for a place that they promised would be climate controlled. Having occasional climate control is like occasionally wearing a condom: It defeats the purpose. I also came twice during the winter and found that the heat was broken. I don't care about it getting cold so much as getting too hot, so I didn't raise a stink. When I signed up, I was told by the staff that there had been some issues with vagrants getting into the building, which ultimately led security being tightened. The other problem is that they are ALWAYS CLOSED, and when they close, renters don't have access to their units. The take off all federal and bank holidays, and they close pretty easily for weather. In the year that I was there, I probably received about 6 emails spontaneously announcing closure due to weather. It's fine if the staff can't make it in to work because of snow or wind, but to hermetically seal the building so renters can't get to into the unit seems a little extreme. To boil it down, I would be able to accept a flawed service if it were at the price I initially agreed to pay. I was even anticipating reasonable increases (let's say up to 10% in a year). But a 100% increase is shocking and usurious. I knew I was signing up with a sub-par place--it's obvious to any who step foot into the premises. But the bait and switch tactics are extremely dishonest, and actually arguing the rationale that it was necessary to keep up with high property taxes was as insulting as it was ludicrous. read more

Cheap rates but you get what you pay for. I've visited a few recently and this one I was most unimpressed with. Gloomy, creepy, the representative that was showing me around assured me the rodents "are in a controlled section..." Seriously,that's what he said! The unit he showed me for rental was full of trash and very nasty looking...but I was assured it would be ready in 2 days! I ran outa there. Not satisfied at all. My wife almost lost her unit here when they failed to let us know the card numbers were wrong. We ended up being a few months behind on the payment and never knowing. The rates were reasonable but they did not cooperate with out situation at all. Storage fees are not a killer and we were able to pay that amount with ease. No parking to speak of, a few spaces, cant get a truck in unless you can back out, good luck. On site folks/management do not tell or advise you of the correct prices for sizes, nor tell about the 2 months free promotion, found out all after going there and needing more questions answered, called the 800# and got better prices, more sizes and 2 months free. Then got charged more for a space that was sized wrong, after fighting for 3 months, got lowered to correct footage, $45.00 a month is a lot to over pay, NOT interested in lowering, had to go above local management for help. Finally out, won't ever go back nor tell anyone anything good. Have reported to Chamber of Commerce and the BBB. BTW, the U-haul up the street is great. read more

Would not recommend they recently changed management for the better yet they still don't value customers. I have been a customer for some time last year I paid my unit in full and they made an error and not gave me the free month that came with paying in full because of this i missed the cut off before the new rate increase i explained it to them but they didn't even care to adjust it so I can paid the next year in full instead they rather lose me as a customer . I would not recommend for long term they nickel and dime you on every bill and if you don't pay a full year then expect a rate increase every 3 to 4 months . read more

OUCH! I wish I would have read these reviews before I used this company. In my opinion, the facilities are fantastic for the listed price. The problem is, THE PRICE'S AREN'T REAL! They quoted me a $40/month deal, and got me to come in with all my stuff. Yes, the "storage space" was $40/month, but then there are "administrative" fees and "mandatory insurance" fees and who knows what else. I kept my stuff there for two months and they charged me a total of $175.05. The employees are defensive and confrontational, exactly what you would expect from a company that employs bait and switch tactics and is used to dealing with upset customers. I sympathize with the other customers who had similar experiences. Good luck! read more

I just signed up so cannot attest to any long term issues mentioned here but the current store manager Anthony is a gem! He was very helpful when i first signed up and got me the best unit available in regards to size and proximity to loading dock. The day i moved in was a Sunday and i was running a tad late since they do close early on that day and he was gracious enough to stay after hours to let me store my furniture that i was bringing in on a rental truck - if he hadn't stayed later i would have had no place to put my items and would have had to incur further charges with the rental truck co. I cannot thank him enough - he provided the human quality often lacking in business. His customer service and plain old compassion are second to none and this location would be smart to do anything to keep him there because i think he is the only reason the place is still running!
