I used movers to move my things (El Cheapo, who were familiar with the storage unit and also great to deal with), and had NO issues moving in or out. My storage locker was indoors, behind a locked gate which I was able to access almost anytime I wanted with my own personal access code. I was able to get deal for my first month, and they were able to pro-rate the second month, as I was not there for the full period. So I become a loyal "brand" customer...and rented at different locations in Toronto and Florida. I happened to come across 28 Estate Drive in Scarborough. I found their customer service superior! They treat this business as their baby and they do not only work there to get their pay check! They go above and beyond to help and very accomodating to fill their customers needs! When I reported this they said once there is a charge they can not issue a refund. I've dealt with other Public Storages where this isn't the case. Immediately i reported the crime, i waited for the police for 3 hours than they called me and said let's have an officer come another day because they were busy...wtf. So i turned towards the manager for help to further investigate the surveillance and hectic i will sit and watch the videos with them. They said, "NO!" and i also knew they weren't going to do anything after i left... FML i lost over $30k worth of photography equipments and Storagemart and Police did not give a fk. I knew i wasn't getting back the items i worked 3 years to purchase. Storagemart had mandatory insurance all customers must purchase. As much as i didn't care about $1400 i was supposed to receive from insurance because it was such a small return to what i had lost, it was at least something to help me start from scratch. Eventually after talking to the insurance for few days they finally got back to me for how much i will get getting. They said, "Hey you will receive $0 because there were no forced break in or no damages." You can tell the person is used to saying that because she had no emotions and was straight blunt about it.... This was hard for me to write down and remember not just because i was robbed but the police who we should be able to depend on in this situation and the storage company who was in charge, both weren't willing to help at all or even willing to let me help them either.
