Amber also gave us a discount the first two months to help out with our cross country move from California. In addition she went out of her way to tell us about the area so that we could make a wise decision concerning housing. As far as the facility it is secure, clean and very accessible. There are plenty of storage bins and carts for public use as well as hydraulic lifts to get your items from the garage floor. 24hr access is a plus along with access codes for all doors. The lift elevator is very accessible with a 6ft wide opening and will accommodate three large roll carts. If you are looking for a great storage company definitely check this location out! This is an excellent facility for that time in your life when you accumulate too much...stuff and need more room for that stuff. I'm channeling George Carlin now. Yeah, I reluctantly went down with my sister and got a storage unit for the two of us a few years ago. She has too much stuff too. My reluctance subsided a bit when I got here since the staff was so helpful and nice. It actually became an adventure of sorts. It's like a big maze. lol. Or a fun version of Arkham Asylum or The Vault. The day we first started putting our stuff away, I got flustered after stubbing my thumb on something, and banged one of the other storage units with my fist. I heard laughter. Someone must have had some sort of toy in there. It was cackling away like the Joker. My sister and her friend, who was helping us, got a kick out of that. lol. "Ha! Someone's toys are laughin' at you!" Pointin' and chucklin' at me they were. Grrrrr.... Yeah, I had to put a bunch of my comics here. But I'm not worried about them because they're secure. This place is tight. You need security codes just to get in, and there are cameras everywhere. No one's stealing yer stuff. Nor is it going to get leaked on or damaged in any way. They're also open 24/7, which is very convenient. My sister's afraid to go at night though. :D She watches too many movies. They even have climate controlled units, band rehearsal rooms, and will lend you a gassed up truck for free when you move in. This used to be the old Duquesne Brewery if you can believe it. My how South Side has changed. Speaking of South Side, it's a great location for me since it's pretty close to home. Plus, as the redheaded girl who initially rented the unit to us sez, "Yinz can stack," thereby maximizing space. So don't go out and buy a bigger house for your stuff just yet. WARNING: Make sure you pay your bill every month. I have automatic payments set up, and twice this year, I switched cards because of my bank and forgot to tell them. Nonetheless, I got notices in the mail since the old cards didn't go through. They will tack on late fees and even auction off your stuff if you don't pay. Luckily it didn't get that far. I generally hate the vendetta reviews, so hopefully you can see through my bias on this one. We had need of a storage unit for a 6 month period, and decided on STORExpress because of their climate controlled facility. This came at a very premium rate. The facility appears clean enough and staff are generally friendly. Then came move out. Multiple boxes and furniture had water damage. In our "climate controlled" unit. This was in the basement on an exterior wall, so maybe it is our fault not to consider that a "climate controlled" unit would not necessarily mean there wouldn't be water flowing into the unit. To make matters worse not even an apology was given. All we got from staff was "Did you put the unit on your homeowner's insurance?" and "It could have been worse". I found these comments completely inappropriate. First of all, I'm not going to disclose my insurance situation to you. Secondly, these were mostly heirloom items with mostly sentimental value that wouldn't have come close to the deductible anyhow. So please consider my story and if you use STORExpress, at least insist on a non-basement unit. read more

The staff is friendly, helpful, professional and kind. The customer service goes above and beyond, they really made us feel comfortable and made the process go so smoothly. They provide a free truck with move in, how great is that? The facility is kept clean and the hours are reasonable. There are items to help with your move for sale in the office. I would recommend this facility to anyone I knew was in need of storage. They also have band spaces, how cool! Did I say how awesome the staff is? read more

A few years ago I was incredibly to move to the city on my own. I knew no one and was baffled at how I was going to move each year with no support - until I met the staff at STORExpress. For three years now, they have been my "family" in the city when it comes to moving. They support me physically and emotionally during the most stressful days of moving, and make me feel significantly less alone in the process of transition. I can't say enough good things about the people that work here. Amber and Gary took the time in my most recent move to help me repack my boxes that had fallen apart and gave me tape for free. They gave me bottles of water and refilled them, and helped me find the perfect unit to meet my needs. I don't know how I would've moved without them this time or any time in the past. If you're in downtown Pittsburgh and need a storage unit, there is nowhere else you should go. Do yourself a favor and do business with these amazing individuals. read more

What makes this company a five star, a very kind and a responsible lady named Amber; who personally took care of our freshman daughter and transported her to and from to storage unit with STORExpress's Truck!!! She was incredibly kind, caring, understanding, and very professional. When we initially hired this service, we thought that, the service comes with movers, however when the driver arrived the dorm, he told our daughter to bring her belongings to the truck. We immediately called the STORExpress and Amber answer the phone, after hearing our concern, she contacted the driver. Although, they were not able to help with moving the boxes due to the their liability insurance, Amber personally helped our daughter to store her things in the storage unit and she also gave her a ride both ways. She even called us on the phone to notify us that she was settled in the storage unit safely. Overall, we had a very positive experience ALL thanks to Amber. read more

It didn't get easier than this! I contacted Storexpress Southside about a month in advance to reserve a unit for my college kid. I spoke to Amber, who was very helpful, pleasant, and got it all set up. I had some questions in the interim and had to make a few date changes before we actually got there, and whomever I spoke to at every point was still very pleasant and very helpful. We were much quicker in packing up than we had estimated and wanted to change the pick-up time to a few hours earlier so we could head home and not wait around for the pick up. This, too, was done seamlessly. Gil, the gentleman, who picked up at the college, was pleasant and accommodating and had everything unpacked and in the unit by the time we got there. All we had to do was lock it and leave! Highly recommend this place, especially for out-of-state college students who will be returning. read more

I really felt a warm welcome. I was explained everything in detail and the whole process did not take a long time for me to start moving in.

I would have highly recommend this storage unit 2 months ago if it wasn't for the following incident. And it wasn't even the incident itself that I am so upset about, it is the way it's being handled. About two months ago I went into the office and requested they note a certain name on my account to NOT allow him to have access to my storage unit (I had previously allowed him access). She stated she noted it in two different places. Not long after that an employee handed him the key to my storage unit before looking into my account to verify if he was allowed access. He took a $5000 couch from love sac (a limited edition couch, reversible leather and fur and a fur bean rocker). I have a a few random pieces of he collection left that I can't do anything with. The storage until called me soon after letting me know of their mistake. I have went back and forth with them to compensate me for their mistake. They first filed a fraudulent insurance claim (I didn't know it was fraudulent) and then when that didn't not work they contacted me and asked me to lie to the police in regards to what happened. I then had enough, a manager was contacted and I was assured she would resolve this. Yet after several attempts to contact her she appears to be avoiding the situation and avoiding making contact with me. I would never have made this review if this was handled. Mistakes happen, I understand that, but it was at my expense. Businesses need to be accountable for their mistakes just like anyone else. It is really unfortunate it has come to this. read more

Staff is personable and professional. The building is kept very clean. Recently ordered a truck from them to bring items into the facility. I got there, it was ready, filled out minimal paperwork and was ready to go. I liked that. If you want a place to keep your "stuff" that won't fit into your house, this is the place on the South Side. read more
