They installed a roll down on my mother-in-laws patio 2 1/2 years ago. They material tore so with would not roll up or down. They charged $360 for a guy to come out for 5 minutes. Warranty covers the material, not labor, now that want $1,000 in labor to replace. It's May 21st and they can't come out until July 1st. I strongly advise against using Storm Smart. Our experience has been extremely frustrating from start to finish. We worked with estimator Robb, who assured us that all storm shutters being removed would include proper patchwork and painting. We paid extra for this service, and it was never completed. We were also told, by Robb, that the one storm shutter we were keeping (for our front door) should be moved out of the way for the window replacement above it--which we did. However, the installer failed to install the new window flush. He admitted the shutter would now need to be either padded out or completely reinstalled. He asked us if we wanted him to reinstall the window flush, or promised a supervisor would be calling to have someone come out to pad out the storm shutter. We chose the later. The first person they sent couldn't properly measure. The second person measured, but after that, we heard nothing. Despite sending over ten emails and making numerous calls to our project manager, Alejandro, we received no response--only many promises that a supervisor would call (which they never did) only to find out recently, he is now "on vacation." Meanwhile, our HOA has now warned us that our home's unfinished appearance (missing stucco repairs and paint) will result in fines of $250 per week starting next week. Only after persistent follow-ups did a supervisor, Roxanne, finally contact us today. Instead of resolving the issue, she claimed we had been informed this might happen (by Robb)--which is completely untrue (we have the conversation recorded, and this supposed note is not in the contract). She then stated that fixing their mistake would cost us an additional $2,400 and that she had emailed me an invoice (which she only did after I got off the phone with her). This is unacceptable. The company failed to deliver services we paid for, made installation errors, delayed communication, and is now attempting to charge us more to correct their own mistakes. Storm Smart installed 4 windows and a lanai screen in my home. One of the window frames has cracked. We have never even opened this window. This company does not back it's workmanship or product. They want to charge a service call fee to look at the cracked window and if it is in need of replacement they will charge me labor by the hour. The won't even come here unless I pay for the service call in advance. I do not think a window frame is intended to last only 3 years. Shame on Storm Smart. Stay away. My wife and I installed 5 new Storm Smart windows in our condo in November, 2023. As this is our vacation home, we are not there full time, usually only in Feb & March each year. Since the installation, I would estimate the windows have been opened less than 10 times total. This year, upon arrival and while trying to open the windows to clean them, I noticed that one (1) would not open evenly, and another was very difficult to open. Upon inspection, I noticed that one of the rollers on one of the windows was completely broken off, and the other could not be adjusted. I contacted Storm Smart and explained the issue completely, i.e. both windows needed new rollers. I set up a service appointment and was assured the tech could repair during the visit as they had rollers on the truck. Despite the window parts still being under warranty, I had to pay $165 to set up the service call itself. The tech arrived on time for the service call and inspected the windows, determining that the rollers indeed needed to be replaced as I indicated. However, they DO NOT have replacement rollers on the truck so they would need to get from their facility, as well as come back with another tech to replace the rollers at an additional charge of $165 each! I contacted the service number to schedule a second visit and express my frustration that the tech was not able to repair during the first visit despite the assurances that he would be able to. Nonetheless, I set up the second appointment during that call and was never told I needed to again advance pay anything. On the morning of the scheduled second appointment, I received an email regarding payment. I contacted them by phone as the invoice sent was the same invoice from the first payment that I had previously paid. The representative was quite possibly the rudest customer service rep I have ever encountered. She indicated that despite my concerns that the billed invoice was already paid, she would cancel the tech that was already on his way unless I pre-paid again. I issued payment and one tech arrived, despite him telling me this was a 2 person job. He was ultimately able to repair the rollers himself. Upon inspection, the rollers themselves are metal (I was concerned they were plastic or nylon given how fast they wore out), but the housing they attach to are plastic and the tech explained they wear out quite quickly in the Florida climate! This would have been good to know prior to the installation. I would not recommend this company for their service as well as the quality of parts incorporated into the windows. While the tech was professional, the billing representative was extremely rude, even refusing to transfer my call to her supervisor; she just kept threatening to cancel the driver already in route. It is only due to the tech himself that I give this a "2 star rating" vs. rating them a "1". Moreover, to spend $330 to replace warrantied parts on windows less than 3 years old is shocking. read more

Absolutely horrible experience with this company, a good them at all costs. My project first was quoted as a 2 day install, then moved to a 4 day install, and was delayed to a 6 day install. With multiple cancellations and rescheduling. Predatory financing terms, that allow them to leave you high and dry with parts left on your property after county inspection. Countless times throughout the experience I was told one thing by an individual, than another from a different person - in regards to both the installation, and financing. Completely untrustworthy, nasty customer service staff. No communication or accountability with shutter installers. Unreachable sales associate, who everyone passes the responsibility to. When I brought my concerns up too customer service, they threatened and pulled my financing for my project. After the shutters were installed the scaffolding was left on my property, blocking my driveway for 4 days additional. One of the shutters broke not even an hour after the technicians left. About 3 years ago I purchased 2 roll-down hurricane curtains on two different properties. The cost was over $20,000 for both. All went well and I had no complaints although I have seen others had problems. Recently I misplaced one of the small remotes. I called a Storm Smart office 3-4 times and was told one would be sent to me. Nothing was sent. The last contact gave me the phone number of the parts department. I was waiting for 20-30 minutes three times but offered a call back on the 3 occasions. I left my number but never received a returned call. I finally got through today. I told her that I lost one of the small remotes. She said one could be sent to me for $50. I could pick one up at the parts department which is a 45-60 minute drive each way. I complained that this is not a good service for a customer who purchased $20,000. She said "I didn't lose the remote, you did". I would not recommend to anyone to purchase costly merchandise from Storm Smart. In case you have a bigger problem than I did, don't plan on a sympathetic associate. There are no trouble shooting guides on the web site or FAQ regarding the operation of the shutters. Don't use storm smart for anything! We had three hurricane curtains installed on our lanai and not long after the one year warranty period they began to fail. Two of the curtains wouldn't stay in the tracks and had to be replaced. I had to pay for the labor for replacement. On one occasion they sent an estimate for the labor for three technicians for one hour at $495 to which I agreed. When they came to do the work they only sent two technicians and they struggled unable to lift the heavy curtain. After watching this for quite a while I got my ladder and went out and assisted them in installing the curtain. Afterward Storm Smart sent an invoice for $660 ( two technicians for 2 hours). I appealed this and was rudely told to pay the $660 which I did. This was after I ended up being the third technician. It would not have taken two hours had they done what they originally estimated and told me. read more

We have a 2-story with 10 foor ceilings, and a large picture window high up above the front door. Got tired of climbing on ladders with plywood. I was a little concerned about how it would look, but it is totally non noticeable and if anything is attractive. the HOA approved. Before we got to Florida this winter, I called storm Smart in advance in late January. They never returned my call. I called again and they said they would call me in 10 days or less. Seems if they can sell something they're Johnny on the spot, but if they have to fix something that they installed, they have no interest. Service after the sale is really bad. Five years ago our hurricane screen with remote was installed, and we were very happy. We even recommended the company to friends who used Storm Smart. However, we will not recommend the company again (not because of an inferior product), but because the service after the sale is difficult. First, it took a while for a scheduler to call me. Then after I did get on the schedule, I now have to wait 6 weeks for a service rep to come to fix the problem. And third, the big Risk is I had to pay $165 today to insure that they will show up!!!! Installation was done on April 2024 one panel did not worked. After several calls and holding the last payment they came back on January of 2025 and determined that the screen was the wrong size and they order the new one which took a little over 2 weeks to get it installed. We began to have issues again in August with that panel and they did not wanted to warranty the guarantee because they said it was over eventhough the correct panel had been install in January 2025. It is a hassle to deal with customer service and they do not stand behind their product or installation. They make appointment and then they do not show up. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM. When I was looking for shutters, I took the word of a satisfied Storm Smart customer before buying. I had three goals intended when purchasing the shutters as I explained to your salesman. Number one, keep the water out of the lanai when it rained. Number two, use as a sun shade in the afternoon as to be able enjoy the lanai. Number three and least important due to the location was hurricane wind protection. I was assured by your salesman that your screen was the best on the market. He showed me pictures of tight screen installations. He showed a picture of a neighboring screen that he said was inferior quality and installation.. It was all wrinkled just like the ones you installed on my home. As for my intended goals when purchasing the shutters, number one, water blew in whenever rained. Thus depending upon the wind, soaking everything on the lanai. Number two failed miserably. Yes the shutter did serve as a sunscreen. That said, the distortion in the screen was so bad, it would not only nauseate you but give you vertigo. This made the lanai unusable with the shutters down. Thus failing one of our primary goals. Not sure how to handle the situation, I decided to check the Internet for reviews. Had I checked reviews, I never would've ordered shutters from Storm Smart. One list of reviews was nine pages of 82 reviews total. Almost all were negative. The reviews primarily dealt with service. There was not much good said about Storm Smart service. Now, this brings me to the question of how we resolve this unacceptable situation. It's my opinion that the screens need to be replaced professionally with a product that meets my needs. He did not show us what that would look like. It looks TERRIBLE. They are recommending an install on the inside because it is easier for them to install. Nobody wants to spend 10k and have it look like crap. We told Storm Smart the day of the install we are not happy and want both shutters on the outside. We used Storm Smart at our other home. Were pleased. We moved and had them install storm shades at our new home. We have had nothing but continual problems since they were installed. Not the same company they used to be. Shades don't roll, get stuck, need to manually be pushed all the way to the floor to fully close. We have panels, canvas screens and traditional accordion shutters on our house. They all do a good job. HOWEVER, the accordion shutters are an incredible pain to clean. Once a year I wash and lube them with silicon. But when Stormsmart installed them they neglected to put in drain holes. Therefore when you wash them a large amount of water collects in the tracks and in the frame and is incredibly difficult to dry out. Letting it dry naturally would take weeks or months, causing algae, mold and a breed ground for mosquitoes. The only thing that comes close to working is to take a leaf blower and literally "blow dry" the aluminum. This creates an incredibly large amount of work that could have easily been solved by simply adding a drain hole or 2. I've contacted Stormsmart a few times over the years for a solution, but to no avail. I recommend against buying these shutters unless the installer makes some provisions for drainage read more

I moved to Florida two years ago as a newcomer. I wanted to install storm windows to protect my home. I called Storm Smart they promised much and did not deliver. Before the hurricane Ian came, I was having a problem with my door gasket. I notified them, and after two months they showed up and they said "I don't have the gasket with me. I will have to get it and come back." A month later I received a bill they wanted to charge me $260 to replace the gasket. I only used it a few times, and the problem came. at this point it's either a defect in their material or improper installation. This is not an honest company, and I do not trust them. The finishing work has also never been completed. It is now March of 2023 and we have reached out to "Storm Smart" multiple times.
