In addition to seeing pigs and different varieties of sheep and chickens we got to see live sheep shearing and wool spinning. There was a blacksmith and a wide range of other vendors offering spices, farm products, and crafts. The farm store was really charming, and there were so many people on hand who could answer questions about the farm. To make it really special there was live music, a food truck, and a tent with tables and chairs where you could just sit and relax. I recently attended a "fall festival" at the Elegant Farmer that was nice, but this family farm had so much more to see! I believe they host a similar festival in spring, and I am already looking forward to it!

I love the size of your farm (walkable and manageable with a little one). With two adults and a toddler, we picked in less than an hour, which was great timing for our kiddo. You also had a good system with friendly staff directing people on where to pick and how to mark where they stopped. We certainly will be back next year (and possibly sooner for other farm events).

He runs a smaller farm on the same road as the much larger one next door but what he doesn't have in a large scale enterprise, he makes up for in quality, friendliness and honesty. It's a family affair, with his daughter and granddaughter behind the counter. Oh, and by the way, it's not just apples Frank grows. If it can be planted in the ground, Frank grows it.

The farm adheres to natural and organic standards... sans any certifications. In part I think because they've always done it this way and in part because they don't seem to want to be bothered by such expensive processes. This said they always stand by their products: Bison, Beef, Pork. What's really interesting and nice is that they are not a wholesaler, they are a community farm with a community retail store right there on the farm. I'm a big fan of their bison and I really like their beef and pork products. I use the ground bison for chili - it's a big hit among family and friends. More and more, I want to know where my food is coming from, I want to meet the people producing it. This is that sort of place.

This working farm is a little known MPS operation that is a good example of why we should be happy about paying taxes. It's a great destination for any children but especially edifying for those urban denizens who don't ever get to see where food comes from. Of course these farm animals are treated humanely so they 're not actually going to learn where their food comes from, so it might be more like a history lesson. There are dairy cows, calves, donkeys, horses, ducks, chickens, sheep, turkeys, farm dogs and farm cats. The classes are in an old farmhouse. The handful of underpaid and volunteer workers are friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, patient and wonderful. Call ahead to make arrangements via MPS, it's a group outing sort of place. Don't rely on GPS take 67 off I-94 - Go South on 67 (8.5 miles),North East (left) on Hwy C (1.3 miles) - there's a little sign. It is a working farm so you shouldn't just drop in.

This would be a great place to have a wedding or a special event. 3 minutes away is an amazing sculture "garden" that is free to enjoy.

They have a plethora of already picked pumpkins, in various colors including whites, bright yellows, pale green, etc. They have a bunch of wagons on hand if you didn't bring one. They also have some farm animals to enjoy. My daughter enjoys the driveway full of kids ride on tractors. They also have a corn maze, live music and a food truck during weekends in the fall season. Buying in advance guarantees the lobster is available but maybe that's more of a concern on Sunday vs the opening night? The 1.25 pound lobsters were very fresh and served with one small red potato, a roll (which was wet with lobster juice by the time we sat down) and a half ear of corn --- the lobster was delicious ! I think for $40 the sides should be more substantial and the roll dry. After dinner, we had to go to a restaurant and have some appetizers to fill up. The live Music was good! There were some tasty cocktail options but the beer selection was two different light beers, Blue Moon and Summer Shandy ?!
