5/5 Stouthaus is one of my favorite coffee spots in Austin. Whether you prefer your coffee hot or iced, you really can't go wrong. It's a great place to catch up with friends, but it's also quiet enough to get some work done if you need a change of scenery. Had a nice African Drip coffee with cocoa and dark chocolate blends and it was great. I had the option to switch it to a decaf. Great selection of teas and lattes. Vanilla Rose latte and Strawberry latte were some popular ones here. They had a wine selection and beers too I guess because of the name. People/service - warm, friendly, and patient. My pumpkin spice latte (PSL) with oat milk? Not amazing lol. I didn't taste the pumpkin flavor. It was a decent coffee, but not a good PSL. Nevertheless, I would go back and try something different. It's a great place to work outside, especially for big groups. Plenty of seating. I was greeted by a friendly person behind the counter. I ordered a flat white ($6) and enjoyed my coffee thoroughly. It was a really nice spacious inviting area indoors with some additional picnic-style tables outside. They even sold some bakery items from Casper Fermentables next door. read more

Came in the other day for a matcha as a little sweet treat after a long day at the vet with a sick cat. I ordered a matcha and asked about the different syrup options for flavor, ultimately going with a rose matcha, hot with whole milk. The rose flavor was undetectable and the matcha was not well blended, leaving clumps throughout the drink and especially near the bottom. All in all, not an enjoyable experience and probably one of the worst matcha I've had. Staff was polite and friendly, so no issues there, and there was plenty of parking outside and seating available inside and outside, but the drink was relatively disappointing. I'm not sure I'd come back for matcha but I might try it for coffee. They do have baked goods and some gluten free items, but we're out when I arrived. It was pretty chill when I was there later in the afternoon, mostly just people on laptops working or having coffee and conversation. They also have WiFi for patrons, which is pretty standard but always a nice plus, and the happy hour looks pretty good for beer/wine. I think it's probably a great place for other drinks, but the matcha was a major miss. read more

Very nice people here! It was quite full when we went and not a lot of space/ outlets. I got the lemonade and the chai tea. They both were just okay, nothing special. But it's a decent place to do some work. They brought our drinks to the bar which was very nice. They also have a happy hour menu on beers on the back! read more

I just discovered Stouthaus Coffee's Thicket location. I let out a verbal "WOW" after my first sip of coffee. It's obvious the drink is crafted with high quality ingredients that positively impact each sip. It's been less than a week and I've stopped by three times. Good vibe and good coffee. Fairly crowded with equal parts coffee and beer people at 2 in the afternoon. Not a ton of seating

To me it's an odd building/location but the coffee drinks are tasty with a small but good selection of beers for every basic taste. Very open space with not a lot of areas for privacy but very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Not sure how busy they get but I can see the two top tables getting filled quickly with not much room but the bench seating available inside. read more

Went there on a Saturday and was surprised to find the place PACKED with people on their computers.. The place is super cute, and the prices are ok ($12 for a tall matcha latte with all the bells and whistles a coffee can have, and a vanilla latte). I removed one star because I waited what felt like FOR EVER for my 2 coffees, the pick up area is in the middle of the room and it's awkward to stand there. I didn't know what to expect when I first came in but I ended up LOVING IT! I think this is hands down my favorite coffee shop in south Austin. It has been so hard to find a place I can see myself coming back regularly. I came in on a Sunday afternoon and it was busy but not crazy. They had studio ghibli films showing on the projector and the music was immaculate. I loved the feel and vibe of the place. I got their Cinnamon sugar latte and it was good! Katie B and I were in the mood to be productive for majority of the time, but we also wanted a chance to giggle and catch up. What's nice about Stouthaus is how easy you can transition from coffee to beer in a snap. There is plenty of indoor seating inside and their wifi connection is super strong. This is more of a productivity spot or a place to catch up, but just be aware many of their bites are pre-packaged as they don't have a kitchen. I had a bagel dog which hit the spot and they were able to warm it up. When you're ready for a beer check out their menu on the wall which is like ordering from a fast food place. Short and sweet and to the point. I decided to opt for the Forever Whatever Hazy IPA from Zilker Brewing. It was the perfect choice and I loved it. This place has a friendly staff and they even offer a rewards system so make sure to sign up for it! Woke up today and decided to find some new coffee places to try out and this is one of my favorites!!! The team member behind the counter were so friendly and place just oozed comfortability. I ordered the regular Chai iced and it was really good! It had a very robust Chai flavor to it which I happen to enjoy a lot, when iced it always tastes so good and this place nailed it! And for under $5 you can't go wrong. They had a coffee bar that seats up to 8. They have a nice outdoor seating area that would've been great to use if it wasn't to cold today If you guys are ever around here, stop by and have these amazing people behind the counter make you something tasty. Other customers ordered pastries and they all smelled so amazing! The place was full of a mixture of coffee, pastries & good music. If that wasn't enough to bring you guys here all the other drinks are very reasonably priced as well! read more

This place is easy to miss if you aren't paying attention. Of you do end up passing it just keep driving! Honestly, it's not worth the price. We got a chai latte and I threw it away. I'm not sure what brand tea they use or if it was an old box but it tasted spoiled, could have been the milk. It did have a nice outdoor sitting area and you will want to use it, or at least that day we did. It seems the AC was broken. It was hard to breath it was so stuffy inside. The atmosphere at this coffee shop feels a bit off--cold both literally and figuratively. I tried the iced rose latte, which had a nice flavor, but the excessive pellet ice watered it down too quickly. Prices are pretty average for Austin, but I was impressed with how fast they got the drinks out. The interior seems to be aiming for a modern, millennial vibe with rustic restaurant seating inside and picnic benches outside. Everything was clean, and even though the place was nearly full on a Monday morning, it was surprisingly quiet. It I have to leave the house on WFH days, I try to stop somewhere for a change of scenery. I turned to my Yelpers to see where I should go and of course you led me to a winner! I have to face driven by here hundreds of times and never realized it was there, along with their neighbors. I had a peppermint mocha with almond milk and it was perfection. Before I left I also had a Greek yogurt parfait and it was the perfect amount of sweet for me. The place was full but not noisy. It was the perfect atmosphere for me. I need some distraction, but not chaos. I imagine most others were working. The guy at the bar next to me was drawing. Several cute dogs came through, too. I also happened to be there during shift change. All four people were delightful and the right amount of chatty. I overheard them saying they had bagel dogs and adult pizza rolls, so I'll be back for those. I will definitely bring my husband back for beers one evening. Why aren't you here?! read more

Thought I was going to give up on good coffee in Austin but then I was introduced to this wonderful cafe Their coffee are amazing and I love the location, next to them is a bakery Casper Fermentables that sells great pastries - sourdough, bagels, cinnamon rolls. I only drink espresso based drinks doused in milk so I love my mocha. My partner loves his Americano though. This is a good place to work/study - it has low to moderate noise level and a very cozy environment. Most people come here to work anyway so it doesnt get noisy. The bagels here are probably the best I've ever had. Although I admit I'm not huge on bagels. We ordered the egg & cheese and the everything bagel w/ roasted garlic cream cheese. Crispy on the outside and so warm and chewy on the inside. They also have a cinnamon roll as big as your face and we're gonna be back to try it! I've gone here twice now, and I love the atmosphere for working or just chilling. I've only gotten their coffee and OJ, but they have a wide selection of over a dozen beers too. The staff is friendly and helpful. It was pretty busy inside, with most seats taken on a hot Friday afternoon. However, the patio has plenty of seating and is undercover to stay cool. Also plenty of parking available! If you order for here, they put your coffee in a beer glass which is cool. I also really like that they offer complimentary simple syrup and half and half at the little coffee station by the door. read more

Super excited about this place! Made my way down to south Lamar today to try out Stouthaus while I work. I was surprised to see so many people here on a Monday morning as its a little bit out of the way. However after trying their coffee I can see why! I ordered the Mexican Vanilla Latte (12oz - iced) for $4.75+$1 tip. Despite the amount of traffic coming through and a few orders being ahead of me, my latte was up in a matter of minutes! I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of natural cinnamon flavor that came through and how balanced it was with the vanilla and espresso flavors. It offered a little bit of a kick that was not overwhelming but greatly appreciated. I personally love cinnamon in my coffee but find a lot of places either use overwhelming artificially flavored syrups or just sprinkle a little dash of cinnamon on top which fails to carry the flavor throughout the drink. This was neither of those! I was impressed by the baristas attention to detail and knowledge about pulling espresso. I listened as he explained to someone else that he had pulled a split shot for him and how the flavors (and volume) may be a tad different for each cup since the puck distribution is not always perfect and the resulting pull can be a little uneven. It seems most baristas these days have no idea about these factors and their effects and many locations rely automatic espresso machines, giving them no control over this. In addition to their coffee menu (which included espresso options, cold brews, drip coffees and nitro iced coffee as well as a variety of tea and tea lattes), they also had 18 options on draft including kombucha, various ciders and coffee or milk stouts. Their was plenty of seating options both indoor and out, as well as wifi (available with purchase). The music and noise levels were low making it an ideal place to crank out some work! Overall, the service and the coffee were great! And I will absolutely be back! read more

First time visit for me and I was pleased with the overall ambiance. Very laid back and chill which is a hidden gem. You'll notice folks working remotely and other areas occupied with friends catching up and mingling quietly. It's sort of tucked away but once you find it, it's definitely a good spot to frequent if you're a remote worker, coffee and/or beer lover. Overall solid spot - I do recommend. read more

We frequented this spot during our first few months in Austin. It was spacious inside and outside - lots of seating, and it's not too loud inside. Outside, however, it gets pretty loud as you have the entrance to the Highway close by. They have a good selection of brew and coffee drinks. We went to stouthaus on Friday early afternoon, they have few tables outside and few inside with socially distanced, lady who took our order was kinda robotic. we ordered cappuccino, coffee and cinnamon roll, post covid we are mostly doing takeouts but while we were waiting for the order we saw staff sanitizing table and chairs in between each customers so we felt comfortable to sit and enjoy the coffee there itself. Cappuccino was good but little thin, coffee was pretty good, cinnamon roll was just ok. Overall, definitely worth a visit and really appreciate the way they're handling the business in pandemic! read more
