I attended a lovely memorial service for our dearly departed friend that passed away a few months…read moreago put on by the staff at SSC Funeral Home. This is an annual Remembrance Service that takes place at the year's closing during Christmas. Louis DeSouza, the manager of the funeral home gave an introductory talk and introduced his staff. It was nice to see a manager acknowledging and praising his hard working staff. Pastor Hal Jeffery had some very comforting and encouraging words that reminded us that our departed loved ones would want us to carry on with life, celebrate it and enjoy it. The staff presented each of us with a beautiful glass angel ornament with our loved one's name. Some placed them on the tree at the funeral home while some took it home to put on their own trees. Pastor Hal then made a blessing of the tree. Lunch and refreshments followed. Thank you to the staff at SCC Funeral Home for helping ease the pain and providing comfort through such a difficult time of the holidays. The ceremony was truly uplifting.

They seemed to up-sell us on every thing using supply chain issues as an excuse. 'Oh no, we don't have that that one, we have this one, which costs twice as much.' Everything was taken care of and all we had to do was console and comfort all those who were coming to see our Mother. They had arranged a table full of things that our mother meant to us and her friends and the food was terrific. Again, we didn't have to worry about anything and if we did someone from the team was right there to take that burden from us. When speaking to my family, there seems to have been several missed opportunities to make the experience more memorable. First of all, they offered a complimentary portrait which they could not do from a jpeg and had to be from a photo. There was no portrait at the funeral as a result. We are in 2020, so new photos are hard to come by other than in digital form. They also offered a video link which was good to allow people to watch since there was limitations of the number of people allowed due to the virus. The video link did not have the sound on the microphone so the entire family watching on the video missed the priest's sermon. I called twice to tell them and they did not seem to respond to my request. The last straw was I had ordered flowers through the funeral home and they did not deliver what I had ordered. See what I ordered first and what I got second. This was an overall off-putting experience to the point that everyone in the family is now wanting to do cremation instead!!

He only dedicated himself to taking notes even when we indicated to him on several occasions that it was the first time we were in this position. The day of the wake he was absent and like the day of the funeral. In the cemetery they told us that the plaque was communicated with us before it was installed. We planned a little ceremony for that day and they never called us. They installed the plate and no communication. I do not recommend them at all.
