Straight Blast Gym of Montana is a people friendly facility that caters programs to all walks of life regardless of age or sex. Whether it is martial arts training or physical fitness, there is something for everyone. Martial arts training is focused on the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a sport and self-defense form with focus on ground fighting. This form of training goes hand in hand with the standup classes offered at SBG to complete the sport and self-defense training for the complete mixed martial artist - from stand up to the ground, there's nowhere else a fight can go! In addition to martial arts training are various physical fitness programs and yoga programs for all age levels. I personally have seen tremendous growth in attendants of these activities be it in the form of weight loss, physical fitness attributes, or best of all the confidence boost in the individuals. I have trained in many places. What SBG offers first and foremost is a community where everyone has a choice and no one is forced. The coaching experience at SBG was exceptional. The coaches are truly a cut above the rest--they are inspiring, and a great deal was learned during the time in the program. However, the positive experience was overshadowed by a disappointing and inflexible contract policy. As an active service member, I was suddenly under orders relocate sooner than I had expected. Contacting the program to discuss the situation led to the surprising discovery that there was no military leniency in the contract like they said when I signed up. The entire upfront payment was lost which was never explicitly communicated before signing. While the coaches are commendable, the company's lack of support for service members in these situations is a major drawback and a significant financial hit. read more

I wasn't necessarily looking for a family when i joined SBG, but I have certainly found one at SBG. Travis, Kisa and the other coaches at SBG have created and nurtured a fun, competitive and structured environment that fosters a level of camaraderie and skill that makes training an amazing experience. Warrior Woman Fitness Boot Camp is an amazing program with great women, coaches, classmates, facility and best of all the workouts. This bootcamp is all about women and is great. The core circuit training is so much fun while working out. I am in better shape in the almost three months of Warrior Woman than I was in years of trying to lift weights and do things on my own. This program has brought me from depression and boredom to excitement about working out, and made me all around happier throughout my week. I look forward every week to class and to seeing the great women who coach me and the ones who train right along side me. If you are interested in learning Jiu-Jitsu there is no better place in Kalspell (or Montana, Northwest, etc) than SBG Montana with Travis and his other coaches. A really great group of guys and girls to train with and everyone is really supportive in helping everyone improve and have fun. I've trained there for over 3 years and the gym has continually expanded and added more and more programs and classes. The fitness classes coach Randy teaches are great, every week he seems to come up with new and more painful exercises! Very highly recommended, there is something for everyone. read more
