He clearly explained what was necessary versus what was optional, and I never felt upsold. When additional issues came up, including the need to replace roof decking before the shingles could go on, Israel reached out immediately. Even with that added scope, the total cost still ended up roughly in line with the next lowest bid, which had not included decking. He also went above and beyond on a skylight repair by having his crew prime the interior area to make things easier for the next crew. Day one, removed whole roof, had a dumpster to haul away the debris. Assessed what was under & found a section with dry rot. Covered roof with a big tarp . Next day, repaired dry rot, replaced all plywood on roof , day three installed all new vents atop roof & replaced all gutters & downspouts installed tarpaper & new roof shingles!! All in all 2-1/2 days Astro Roofing completed task & cleaned up all around the worksite I didn't need to ask for any other bids bc I saw them @ work in another city at another time & was impressed with their performance & when Solomon gave me their pricing I agreed as they were quite reasonable! It was easy coordinating with Danny, Ivan and the foreman on site throughout the entire process. From the detailed proposal to final touch-ups with painting, I could tell how much they cared about doing a thorough and quality job. Not only was the perimeter of our house very clean (cleaner than before they started), they also helped clean up the debris that ended up in our garage because of the exposed ceiling which I truly appreciate. Lastly, I did not know this at first, but my neighbor saw a crew member tighten the hinges on our gate (very old) because they noticed it was uneven when they used it to access the side of the house. Typical sales scare tactics were used like telling us a leak was from condensation due to the lack of ridge vents. We have gable vents and so does every other house on the block. By his logic, every old house without ridge vents should be leaking water. I've been in my attic, there's no condensation issue. Their price for a new roof seems fair but given our roof is 12-15 years old with two leaks, it's far from needing a full replacement. They also offered no warranty if we went with a repair. He also estimated my roof to be 25 years old when my home inspection and other roofers estimated 10-15 years old.
