Just had my roof replaced by Lovett and Lovett. From the initial consult visit with Jordon (Lovett) through the schedule and the completion of the project, Jordon, Kyle (project manager) and the team were great. I got quotes from 5 different roofers that had strong reviews in the area and Lovett was very competitive. Finding a contractor (of any kind) that is responsive to texts or phone calls, and customer concerns, with good communication is difficult, but Kyle and the Lovett team were great. During the actual demo and install process I had a couple of concerns but they quickly called me and addressed them. I discovered one issue with a vent that didn't look quite right, but called them and they sent someone out to take care of it the next day as well as inspect again to make sure everything else looks good. read more

Lovett & Lovett replaced our roof on a 1911 craftsman house in May 2026. I'm glad I hired them--they did a beautiful job on the roof and they were professional, hardworking, and excellent problem-solvers. They won't be the cheapest estimate you get, but if you run into the inevitable old-house problems (in our case, the sunroom roof was rotted all the way through to the ceiling, and had to be rebuilt entirely!) you will be glad they have a large, skilled crew that can do carpentry, replace rotted wood trim and shingles, etc. Due to the unexpected issue with the sunroom, they even offered to work on Saturday in order to keep our job on schedule and finish by the date we'd agreed on. I also appreciated all the progress photos they send at the end of each day. They fixed a lot of previous problems as they went along, instead of papering over them or taking shortcuts. The quality of their work was outstanding. I received four other quotes from very highly regarded East Bay companies two of which were laughable because they were so high. We recently had a new roof, gutters and downspouts installed by the Lovett & Lovett team. The entire process from initial proposal through completion was incredibly professional and high quality. The end result was a quality product but how we got there was frustrating. 1. They will leave your attic absolutely trashed. I don't understand why this isn't standard on their contract but they won't cover your attic to protect from debris unless it's requested (for a fee). There was a complete lack of communication before the project. I didn't even know when they'd start until 5pm the previous day. They also didn't seem to communicate internally and would forget parts of the project multiple times. 2. Review your charges carefully. They were going to charge $2100 to put gutters on a small detached garage, approximately the same amount as my house. They'll also charge you extra for the permit fees even if their contract states they'll only charge what is required by the city. They outsource the permitting process and markup the cost to you by 50%. 3. If you aren't over their shoulder every step of the way, they'll make their own questionable judgement calls when they could just ask what you want. They'd save themselves time and avoid putting the customer in the position to be an asshole but that isn't their approach. Move quickly, and make the customer say something. Again, the end product was quality but I didn't trust the project management team and the construction team needed constant proactive communication to get what you want. read more

Lovett was recommended by our solar installers. They were hired to fully replace our roof, installed copper gutters, did HVAC penetrations, and added stanchions for solar installation. Overall, the job was completed on-time and on-budget. Our roof is particularly steep, so we appreciated the quality of work that was done here. I will say, it may have been their first time installing copper gutters and guards, but they were able to source them and get them installed. A few things required the team to come back, but they were able to get back out here timely and complete the work. The only critique is that communication on the front-end could have been better, but they were receptive to that feedback. read more

This is a review for work done on our home before we moved. We had repairs and a full section completed on our Contra Costa home just before we sold it. Well, the so called guarantee fell to dust with the next owner, and we haven't heard the end of it from them. There are leaks, and shotty craftsmanship. When the new family couldn't get anyone from Lovett to respond, they called a competitor who said the shingles used were the cheapest on the market. They showed us how they are chipping away. It's only been 5 years!!!! We did not pay for the cheap shingles!! Also, this led me down a rabbit hole. These people are not who they say they are. "1885" my ass. "Lovett Roofing" was from the 1800s- NOT "Lovett & Lovett" which has only been around since the 1980s... not a hundred years ago. Lovett and Lovett just completed our complete re-roof for my house in Alameda. Overall, a very positive experience. I got 5 bids from various roofing contractors, and Lovett's were, by far, the most complete and detailed. While they were not the cheapest, they were very competitive and within 5-10% of the lowest bid. It took about 8 weeks after getting on their schedule after accepting the contract. Once they started, however, they showed up with a crew of about 5-6 guys and completed the complete re-roof in about 6 days, including an old layer of tear-off, the removal of a decorative dormer, new shingles, stucco tear-out and repair, and the installation of gutter guards all around. They arrived every day on time, a little before 8am, and generally stopped work work around 4. Roof project are a very messy business but they even did a pretty good job of cleaning up every day. Lovett & Lovett did some roof repairs on my home back in the 90s. They did a fine job so i called on them when i needed a roof replacement last year. They offered to move up my original April 23 scheduled date, and their crew worked hard and finished the job one day ahead of schedule. The roof looked great. There were a few problems when we had the heavy rains in December. I was very impressed how quickly they responded and took full responsibility for fixing all the leaks, some of which may have been on my side metal roofing which they were not responsible for. Fantastic company! Jordan was very responsive and the bid was detailed. The quality of the work was exceptional. I've never known a roofing company to have such skilled carpenters. My roof has tall, steep pitches that got decorative trim installed on the faces of the peaks at the roof line. This was a challenge to install and they did a fantastic job while working safely. The crew was courteous and professional. Throughout the days they made sure the gate was kept closed so that my dogs were always safe in the yard. I am 100% pleased with the job Lovett & Lovett did. Jordon inspected the roof and provided a clear estimate with all of the options. He was available by phone and text to answer questions, and he always replied in a timely manner. Once I approved the estimate, Jordon got us onto his schedule very quickly. Part of our roof is flat and part is pitched. The flat part is what needed attention. Jordon gave me the option of a full teardown and replacement or coating the existing roof with a heavy-duty acrylic coating. We opted for the acrylic coating. I am confident it will hold up well over time. In addition, we replaced 13 skylights that were cracked and leaking. I'll be honest.... it's hard to get really excited about a roof, but this whole experience was painless and as exciting as roofs get. Jordon's crew that did the work was friendly, professional, considerate and easy to work with. As luck would have it, a few days after the work was completed, we had the first heavy rainfall of the season, and as expected there wasn't a single leak. Prior to the new roof, we had regular leaks, so now we'll sleep better. I was under a time restraint by my insurance company to have my roof replaced or face non-renewal. I interviewed 6 roofing companies who presented a myriad of estimates (several suspicious). At the last minute, I remembered I l had used Lovett & Lovett many years ago. I called them, explained the issue and both Jordan and Kyle assured me that although they were booked solid, they would fit me into their schedule. And they did. On time. And, what a beautiful, beautiful job it turned out to be!!!! Kyle was always available with any questions I had. The employees were polite and accommodating leaving the property immaculate at the end of each day. To reduce costs, I had not originally included a portion of the garage roof unaware there would be a big difference in the overall look. However, after the original job was completed, the unfinished portion of the garage stood out.
