Not worth the money, in my opinion. Place was nice but the servings for both food and drinks were pathetic considering the price!

Planet Grapes is located at Shangri-La Plaza. It's interior is really nice and modern. You order your food on these tablets which is cool. I got a glass of their Paco Garcia red wine from Spain, it tasted pretty good and had great flavor to it. You can order the amount of alcohol you want to, I forgot the exact sizes but it was something like a sip, half glass, full glass or whole bottle. The was pretty cool since they don't really offer those options in the U.S. It makes it convenient if you want to go wine tasting and try out several options. For my meal, I ordered the Zucchini Penne Telephono Pasta. It tasted just alright. My uncle ordered the Fish and Chips and he enjoyed his food. Maybe next time I come back I'll just order a few wines and a cheese board. Great place to get your wine fix in the Philippines!

They have each of these wines in a chiller, tapped and ready to pour if you only want a glass. I was also disappointed they didn't have wine flights. As for food, the gambas and chorizo is really good. The lemongrass and gochujang chicken inasal was delicious. The ribs were too sweet for my taste. The ambiance is relaxing, and a good place to go to unwind. Beware that if you sit next to the kitchen, you can smell the smoke coming out from there.

This is perhaps my favorite nook in the entire city…read more I imagine that this is how Marie Antoinette would want her wine cellar to look like, with the bottles lined along the walls all the way to the curvature of the domed ceiling. The lighting is soft, and dramatic, and has the power to invoke both glamor and chill. Everybody just looks good. Now, imagine suddenly being in it, sipping that nice tall glass of bubbly while conversing with your favorite people. This in fact was how I had celebrated my birthday recently and I wouldn't have had it any other way. It is actually a small place with only around 6 tables inside. Their wine selection is extensive enough and of course mostly French, except for the sparkling wines because according to the sommelier, those usually come from Italy. Their prices range from the frighteningly cheap to the threateningly steep, so it's really up to you if you feel like playing el cheapo or mister spender. Also, the deli serves an assortment of baguettes, patés cold cuts and cheeses, albeit limited. You are welcome to put something together to have with your wine, which is exciting for me, but if that's not your thing, there is also a menu of sandwiches and small plates. Also, the pastries and macaroons are something worth sinking your teeth into. It is open 'til the wee hours of the morning which makes me fall in love even more.

They serve as Hotel Rembrandt's bakery and café if I'm not mistaken. Unlike in Cebu, they don't have the alfresco area here in Manila. La Vie Parisienne here is smaller and in an enclosed area. They have nooks surrounded by wine shelves. It's not a bad thing. It feels quite cozy and it is COLD. I almost froze because I came in wearing a short dress. I came here to try their wine. I was expecting a broader selection. I was looking for malbecs or more varieties of merlot and cabernet. I was quite disappointed. They don't really have a lot of choices for the in betweens - it was either really cheap or really expensive. I can't complain though. The prices are really reasonable. My friend and I spent only PHP 1000 for a bottle of wine and two slices of dessert. Good place to bring a date - when you feel like having something fancy but don't want to spend too much. Great value for money. It's worth trying.

She loved it so much that she brought the family there for Sunday bonding. I found the place to be homey and cozy. It looked like a bricked house and once you've settled in a table, you'd feel like you're really in Spain. The music and ambiance really suite the whole theme. And don't get me started with the food! We ordered different things for the family to try and I must say that the food was good! We ordered the Paella Valenciana which is the flavor/variant we all know of. We also ordered the Caldo Gallego which was a hearty soup composed of beef, chicken, beans, vegetables and Spanish chorizo. We had the Salpicao, Croquetas and Bacalao ala Vizcaina (cod in tomato sauce). All of those dishes were really good! To end the meal, we ordered Sangria and partnered it with Bandeja de Jamon, Chorizo Y Quezo which was a platter of cold cuts, hams and cheese. The restaurant definitely captured the taste of Spain. I found it to be a great place to be with a big group or even just a one on one intimate dinner. The vibe for me was great. My overall experience in Calderon was pleasant! I would recommend Spanish cuisine lovers to drop by and try the food!

Honestly though we weren't expecting that much since it was only a neighborhood joint and we suspected would not offer Spanish dishes quite as authentic and fresh as those we've had in more expensive restaurants, but boy were we wrong. Calderon is fantastic. Their flavors was bold and their dishes though made with simple ingredients really pack a punch. The place is cozy and warm, the décor classic and earthy. The food offered is classic Spanish and we ordered salpicao, paella, gambas, and croquettas, all staple Spanish food. I was blown away by how tasty and great everything was. The tapas options are killer. I could honestly go home with a pot filled with their salpicao and just gorge on that and rice for a week. The ultimate test (at least for my mom) was their paella and it did not disappoint it was flavorful, salty, packed with meat and veggies. Calderon is certainly a must-try!
