It's got location, but not much else going for it. For starters, the front desk staff is among the rudest I've ever experienced, and I travel a lot for business. Upon arriving at about 2:00 pm, the very officious clerk said to me, "But check in time's not 'til 3:00, is it?" -- quite snotty -- a simple, "your room's not quite ready" would have sufficed -- while persons after me had no problem checking in before 3:00.. The room was very, very tiny, even by UK standards -- I mean seriously, the small bed was up against the wall, and the door could not completely open. (You'd think this is a fire hazard.) The breakfast room is not large enough to accommodate the number of guests, so either you wait, or they hustle you down to their weird secondary room with fewer food options. One of the concierges gave several of us from my company incorrect information during our stay. Inside-facing rooms, though quieter, look out onto an unkempt roof; and my colleagues report that the outside-facing rooms were exceptionally noisy. For all fo this goodness, you pay premium price because of location, but there's really nothing to back up the price. I'll go back to Charing Cross Hotel next time I'm in London. read more
