It detours to drop some runners off at Edison HS, which basically adds 10min to the bus ride. . Had I known, I'd prob have sought nearer parking for the SCM and just bike the rest of the way. . Somewhat peaceful ambience, albeit loud neighborhood.

I was here in Long Beach watching the news and getting ready for school when I watched as the second plane hit the 2nd tower. That memory has been with me since. While on a weekend trip to san diego we visited the air and space museum and were surprised to see a cruiser on display that was actually at ground zero! When I got back I thought to myself "I wonder if there's other artifacts that I can see around town". A quick search showed that there were pieces of steel from the towers here. So on 9/11 of last year, we drove out here to see the memorial and have a moment of silence for the victims. The memorial is located at the bottom of the staircase in a pentagon shaped base and honors all lost in the towers, flights as well as first responders. In the center stands a steel beam that was part of WTC donated by NYC Fire and Police. It's quite surreal seeing an object from that dark day in history.

You order at the register and seat yourself with a number. My boyfriend and I both got a warm buttered lobster roll each and a bowl of clam chowder fl share. The food was ready quickly. The lobster roll was excellent. A bit on the pricey side, to be expected for the location, but good texture and flavor. The clam chowder I definitely wouldn't get again. Not a typical clam chowder I'm used to. Didn't seem like a ton of cream but a lot of flour or cornstarch thickener that weakened the flavor. The seasonings were lacking BUT there was a good amount of clam. Very cute place with great location! The restaurant was an hour from closing and wasn't full. When we walked back to downtown, it was BUSTLING. So probably better options in the actual city, but right now it's the only option on the pier (with a restaurant being constructed halfway on it as I speak). Would maybe go again? With visiting friends or if I'm feeling touristy?

We sat downstairs and enjoyed watching people fish and surf. Good ambiance, and if you wanted to eat somewhere quieter/see mostly the ocean, try getting a seat upstairs We ordered their lobster rolls only and sad to say I was disappointed. For $27 you get a small and not filling meal. The lobster itself was good, fresh and cooked well. But despite knowing why it cost that much, with location and the type of seafood, it was a shock to see an item this much be so small. There are better lobster rolls for their taste and price so I probably won't get this again. However, I am willing to come back and try their other entrees and raw items
