I stopped by during Small-Business-Saturday and I am glad I did! All of their suits are made and designed by the owner and I have heard good things about their products. I like that their one piece swimsuits aren't matronly and boxy, but have cute ties and cut outs. Sometimes you just don't want to worry about your bits falling out at the pool. I found a few one piece swimsuits and asked an employee if they had these three in a medium. Unfortunately, the black suit I wanted wasn't available but they had a dark grey in the same cut. Coincidentally, I ended up really like the dark grey, which my shopping companion owns in the same color and style. I was a little worried that with the lack of padding, everyone would be able to tell when I was cold, but my friend said her suit disguises that well. I always have a special preference for businesses that call Dickerson Road home, because I had the greatest time living on that hidden gem of a street! It's a good thing that Strange Bikinis has lived up to my high hopes for a Dickerson Road business with the superb customer service and unbeatable quality in their merchandise. All of the bikinis are designed locally by Ali, the owner, and all bikinis are made in the USA (over in San Fran). I would definitely put the price point at more of a 3 $, but I've found the higher price is well worth it. I have a bikini and a monokini--both of which are super comfortable to wear all day! The bikinis don't have padding, which could be a concern, but the girls always stay perfectly in place without and the fabrics are typically bold colors so there is little risk of having anything showing through. This brand is about body positivity and embracing your "strange." I can attest that these bikinis fit well and make me feel confident--even though I could definitely stand to lose the weight gained from my office job! A custom kini is also an option for an additional fee. Each time I have been in the shop the employees are always welcoming. I am a fan of how much attention I have always received while in the fitting room. Always willing to bring different sizes or different colors! I was also impressed by how accommodating and chill the staff was when my boyfriend visited the shop with me! Pros: You can get custom bikinis! Her bikinis are super soft, sexy, and many types have a sports bra feel (as in good support). I got the Rambler top and the Dallas Duke cheeky bottoms. Both have a corset-like design that match perfectly together. Also, I like that she has high waisted cheeky bikinis (since I like my butt but not my stomach). I love how good the bikini bottoms make my butt look. UNR students receive 10% off too. They have: olive green, teal, coral, mustard yellow, grey-violet, and an unique design colors (pictured).Their colors are unique and the one design (in the mannequin picture) on the bikinis is very cute. Cons: This place is not only 2 $$. Most of the 2 pieces range between $55-75 and the one pieces are over $150. There is also no padding in the bikini tops so your nipple may show through if you go into cold waters. If you want a custom bikini, the initial intake/consultation is $15. They do not have XL sizes and if you want them, it may cost more. There are minimal "standard" colors such as black, white, navy, etc. The colors are limited. Neutral: This is a high end swimwear store. It is not an everyone-can-fit-into-these-sizes to kind of store - which is fine, but just remember that before you go. Also, it takes about 3 weeks to do adjustments on bikinis if needed (at no added charge if you're picking a bikini at the store), and longer for custom orders. First of all the swimsuits seem to be very well made and quality fabrics are used. And I love it he values they stand for. But, I have yet to get one because they always seem to be sold out of what I want. I asked when their next swimsuit drop will be and I was told they were not going to have any more new pieces until next year... I wanted to buy several new swimsuits from them but due to their limited selection I will likely have to go elsewhere. I live on the same street as the Reno location and it never seems to be open when I go. It's unfortunate they don't have their hours on yelp or maps because it's hard to tell when they are actually open. I bought two last summer, and they kept me feeling comfortable, supported (heyo DD's) and sexy throughout every adventure - swimming, hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling, boating, fishing, hot springs and even a crazy/scary flash flood. (fun fact: the extra cheeky bottoms stay on surprisingly well in strong currents) Most importantly, after all this, these bad boys still look, fit and feel basically brand new. I recently visited the shop for the first time and bought a monokini. I felt totally comfortable in the shop and appreciated the steps taken to keep customers healthy and safe. Immediately upon entering I was asked to wash my hands and, of course, masks are required. The whole experience was really, really great. Ashley worked the floor to help me find the monokini I was looking for. I tried multiple sizes and styles - spending a bit of time in the store! She was patient and kind as I worked my way through the selection. She was also assisting other customers and giving them the same attention to detail to help them find the best suit! I had a small issue with the suit I got, so I headed back to the store one week after purchasing it to try and get my issue resolved. I have to say, I was so happy with the customer service I received from the owner, Ali, to get me back on track. I've been following Strange Bikinis for a while now and finally decided to pull the trigger on buying the Galena Full Coverage one piece. I bought it during customer appreciation weekend, so I got some sort of sale. I'm a 2XL, bonafide, certified, bigger girl. And I was excited to see Strange expand their sizing. After a friend got the Stryker one piece (in a 2XL) and said it fit her perfectly (She is a little bigger than me), I was SO excited to buy this. I got my swimsuit in the mail and took one look at it and knew it wouldn't fit me. It was impossible. Knowing they don't have a return policy that would do me justice, I decided to re-gift to my mother. She's 5'2 and 160 lbs when SOAKING wet. The suit I received BARELY fit her. I mean, we had to squeeze her into it and it still didn't fit properly. My mother isn't an XXL. She's barely a large. And this suit barely fit her. For a brand that's all about inclusivity, I was really bummed. I even took my measurements beforehand to make sure they were "within the range" and they were. I have been obsessed with Strange for years, but haven't shopped there until yesterday. I visited the Reno location where I was pleasantly surprised by how big the store was. Mickey was helping me and she was SO helpful! Seriously, someone give this girl a raise! I cannot say enough nice things about her. She was so knowledgeable regarding the style, sizing, inventory and fit of each piece. She made me feel so comfortable and well taken care of, even while equally assisting 3 other customers (just as well I might add). I ended up with 1 top and 3 bottoms (a small, medium and a large)!
