One of my favorite features is the Walk of Presidents upstairs. The lifelike presidential statues are fascinating, and you can listen to each president's story as you stroll through history. Kids (and adults!) will also love the indoor Ferris wheel (only $1 a ride), the classic shooting gallery, arcade-style attractions, bowling, the candy shop, and the impressive aquarium. You could easily spend a couple of hours here even if you're not shopping. Don't miss the cafeteria if you get hungry. It's a great place to grab a bite, and while you're there, be sure to stop by the fudge counter. They offer free samples of their delicious homemade fudge, making it hard to leave without buying a piece or two! When it comes to shopping, they truly have something for everyone. Whether you're looking for clothing, shoes, sporting goods, camping gear, coolers, golf equipment, water toys, or just about anything for the outdoors, chances are you'll find it here. 5-stars if you've never been to a flagship store like this and aren't looking for good value. 4-stars if you actually are going to buy something. They're overpriced, especially on non-sale items on almost everything. I stumbled here in the very rare circumstance I needed something before Amazon could deliver it -- a snorkel set before leaving for Hawaii the next day. I was blown away what was inside. A full size Ferris wheel? Shooting Gallery? Cafe? Candy Store? On and On. While not nearly as impressive as the Bass Pros headquarters store in Springfield MO, for those in Reno locals/visitors, it's worth a visit just to see the place, especially when super cold or hot out. Liberal's (REI folk) might find some of the stuff amusing (the premium gun collection and the huge safe assortment come to mind.) I'd give about 30 minutes to wander around. Every time my son comes to visit with his family we go to Scheels. My son calls it an adult Disneyland. We love all the aquariums, arcades, bowling, golf simulator,food and of course all clothes, shoes, and sporting goods. It is a huge store and it's always busy. The staff is very nice and helpful. Whenever looking at something a staff member usually will come up and ask if I have any questions or if I need assistance. Theirs prices just a little higher but their quality is very good and if you should have any problems you definitely can bring it back. I love coming here. read more

Scheels is the mother of all sporting good stores. They seriously have everything. Even a cafe! I wandered around for over an hour in a stupor. They have sporting goods, an aquarium, a Ferris wheel, animatronic presidents, stuffed animals and more! I think there's something for just about everyone at this store. Even a small grocery section with things like coffee and snacks! I stopped at the cafe and ordered a salad for $10.00. It was fresh, crisp, and had a bunch of bright red strawberries on top. Afterward, I bought some beef sticks, for only $1.00 each. What a deal. I'm looking forward to my next visit. read more

Scheels is a Reno staple if you are into the outdoors, but surprisingly has an intense selection of more then that. My favorite part about here is the Lego section.... Biggest in Reno by far. All of the employees here are incredibly friendly and helpful, must be a nice work environment, and you can't forget the icing on the cake of military discount off EVERYTHING!!!! For the size of this store, maybe the most shocking part is the prices, not only is nothing hiked up, most of the time stuff here is considerably cheaper then other places in Reno. It's not often a store also provides a bit of an experience. Scheels is a vast store. It's got almost anything you can imagine related to outdoor activities and sporting goods. It's so big I'm not sure I've ever even been through the whole thing. Upon entering on either side they have big fish tanks that our kids love looking at, and then of course they have the massive Ferris wheel. The cost is $1 per rider which is more than fair, but in my experience they will often just give you the tokens to ride for free. The store itself is a bit pricey. But there's a variety here that you won't get many other places. So you're almost certain to find something. read more

Extremely disappointing experience at Scheels today. I went to Scheels to purchase my Nevada hunting and fishing licenses. I specifically told the employee that I needed everything required for upland hunting and waterfowl hunting. Unfortunately, I had to go back and correct the order multiple times. First, she only printed my hunting license. I explained that I also needed my HIP certification for upland bird hunting, so she had to process it again. The second time, she forgot to add my fishing license, so the transaction had to be done a third time. Then I asked about my Federal Duck Stamp (E-Duck Stamp) because it hadn't been included either. The employee told me, "You don't need that this year." I questioned her because I knew that didn't sound right. She then told me that waterfowl privileges were now included with the Nevada hunting license. I asked her if she was 100% sure, and she said yes. She even asked her manager, and the manager also told me he was 100% sure that I did not need the Federal Duck Stamp. The manager then told me that they had been telling everybody the same thing. That really concerned me, so I went to my vehicle and called Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) myself. The first thing they told me was that they couldn't believe Scheels had been telling customers that, because the information was incorrect. NDOW walked me through getting the required duck stamp over the phone, and they are sending me a new one. My biggest concern isn't even the inconvenience to me. It's the fact that other hunters may have been given the same incorrect information. Someone could leave Scheels believing they have everything they need, go waterfowl hunting, and potentially find themselves in violation of federal waterfowl regulations because they were incorrectly told they didn't need the required federal stamp. If you're buying your hunting licenses at Scheels, please double-check everything yourself with NDOW and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service before heading out hunting. Mistakes happen, but when an employee gives you incorrect information, you question it, and a manager confirms that same incorrect information--and then you're told they've been telling everyone the same thing--that's a serious problem. Scheels needs to get this corrected immediately before more hunters are affected. read more

We were all impressed with your location, but at the time, I felt the service and/or prices were not a good fit for me. But it was a great place for me to "window shop" while my wife did all the real shopping in the mall. Quality/Quantity - We are loyal seasonal customers. Good selection at regular priced items. If lucky, we buy at the end of the season, or last year's season sale items. Many departments to choose from with a focus on sporting goods. Bought some ski boots, skis, ski wear. etc. Atmosphere - They are employee owned, COOP. The culture and atmosphere seemed very positive. Service - They had a GREAT customer service program! I was so impressed. They offered bike repairs, skate sharpening, racquet stringing, ski and snowboard waxing, etc. There were two 16,000 gallon aquariums and a 65-foot Ferris wheel inside the store for customers to ride. Price - Normal prices, it would probably be cheaper if you bought elsewhere. But for the service and selection, it is worth the prices. A huge two level sporting goods store with a indoor Ferris wheel. It's a $1.00 a ride. Also an indoor cafe. There are two opposing entrances. Like anywhere else you should know your prices. Hubby likes the fishing section. I just like to wander through the clothing apparel and the home goods area. Great friendly staff. Everyone gives you a greeting and asks if you need assistance. A good comparison would be a pro bass shop- filled with nearly any gear you need for: kayaking, fishing, hunting, swimming, and camping! All contained just outside of an big shopping outlet next to a beautiful lake park. It was a nice walk around the lake (which I heard was man made) to get to the outlet. It was bustling and though we walked there, thier parking lot was huge and can account for many cars. Plus points for having those real arcade shooting target games in the hunting section! Very fitting and fun for the kids and us! Though we aren't outdoorsy people by any means, it was still cool to look around and the large displays of taxidermy and the huge center ferris wheel. A very impressive store overall, would come again if I ever find myself in the area. This is such a fun outdoor shop to visit. There is everything you need for sports, outdoor activities, clothing, furniture, and more here. Aside from the typical store, there is also a Ferris wheel ($1 per ride), a mini café with amazing roasted nuts, an aquarium located by both entrances, a mini bowling alley, a shooting game area, and a candy shop. All the activities they offered were also extremely affordable. You can definitely spend a couple of hours just browsing around and doing the different activities they have to offer. We had the best shopping experience at Scheels on Sunday. My husband and I were shopping for Golf shoes and Austin really went out of his way to take care of us. It was a busy day too. I always appreciate good customer service!! As far as the value and selection. Golf shoes can be pricey, but there was a nice selection. I didn't get my first choice since my size wasn't available, but ended up getting even better ones. In the end, I can say I love, love, love my new Golf shoes. read more

Decent selection and prices on a variety of outdoor equipment and can be fun to browse. The customer service can vary wildly between aggressive to non existent. Last time I was there, I spent 15 min waiting for a couple employees in the knife section to end their conversation so I could ask about a knife sharpener, in the end just figured out what best suited my needs myself. Picked up the 200 dollar ken onion edition and started to make my way to the register, just to have another employee then chase after me, "offering" to take it to a register for me. After one of the games in the tournament, the team decided to come check out Scheels in Reno. I love how enormous the store is. Scheels is welcoming to all, even the dogs. I noticed that there were bags like you would see at a park provided in case an animal had to go to the bathroom. I did see a few dogs on leashes with their owners throughout the store. I had a great time looking at everything Scheels has to offer. I did end up getting a score book. I loved the display of different cups and their colors. Holy - retail - superstore, Batman! This place is absolutely amazing. I didn't know what to expect when my boyfriend mentioned that he wanted to stop in during our road trip to Tahoe... but I can sum it up fairly simply... WORTH THE DETOUR. If you need it, Scheels has it. It's like Dick's, Sports Basement, REI, TJ MAXX and Bass Pro Shop got together and found themselves meld into a giant super-charged retail store. And that's just putting it generally! I mean, this place has a friggin' fully functioning, brightly colored, FERRIS WHEEL smack dab in the middle of it! A cafe complete with freshly made fudge, gelato and other foods! It has a two-lane mini bowling alley, a shooting gallery, golf swing analyzer, and SO SO SO MUCH MORE. The service here is also super top notch. There is always a willingly helpful employee roaming the various sections asking how they could help your shopping experience be the best it can be. I didn't get to see the entirety of the store, but from what I DID see.... I'm definitely a fan and I eagerly look forward to going back. Parental Perspective - Scheels is a GREAT way to spend the day with your littles and if you haven't explored it from that lens I highly suggest it! Although most things here are quite expensive, they're almost always worth the extra cost. Service is impeccable. We were greeted by friendly staff that made our time here very pleasant. I tried to sell a Weatherby 307 Alpine rifle with about 10 rounds through it in basically in near-perfect condition and was offered just $900 for a firearm that retails around $2,100. That's not just low, it's insulting. I've sold plenty of firearms before and have never received an offer anywhere near this bad. On top of that, the process took over an hour for something that should've taken 10-15 minutes. Between the lowball offer and the wasted time, this was a really frustrating experience. I wouldn't recommend buying or selling firearms at scheels. read more

12/19/2023- Five stars for customer service! Unfortunately, I exchanged the previous Garmin for the Vivoactive 5.. I did not know the different models have different options .. I am really impressed with the sleep tracking, but was confused as to why it didn't show the sleep average.. Once I started to research I found only certain models had that function.. of course the one I picked.. Return was very smooth, and the watch that I wanted was not in stock according to online- Decided to go upstairs to see the others.. and there she was sitting all by herself (the white one).. plenty of the black Vivoactive 5... I had to wait for an employee to unlock case.. and just so happens, he was wearing the expensive Garmin watch.. lol!.. I also got a gift card because the new watch was less $$$.. We were on vacation and I had never heard of Scheels. I have been to and love the other mega sporting goods/fishing/hunting place, but when @Rani R. said that Scheels is so big that it has a Ferris wheel inside, I needed go to see it! I was amazed at the size and layout of Scheels. With the Ferris wheel in the middle, the rest of the layout was built around it in a way that allowed me to see merchandise in so man different departments just by standing on one walkway and looking across or down. It was a cool way to see so many things at one time. I wa amazed at the sheer number of items, too--for instance there walls of drinking flasks...all displayed so nicely. Because we had to fly any purchases home, we didn't get to purchase as many things as we would have liked, but it was still so fun to look. Despite the price here, it's a fun and great place to explore. The biggest sports store there is. From Camping to kayaking, hunting and fishing. They have clothes fir everyone, even newborns! They even have a home section!
