It was a last minute decision to go to there this evening and I was not really that excited about shopping...that is until I met Jessica, Denice, and Ciara. I seriously could say this is by far one of the most fun times I have had shopping for clothes. First, the customer service was spot on. They never let me have too many items in my hand by consistently, but not annoyingly, asking if I would like them to take the clothes back to the dressing room. While I was browsing, Ciara cunningly was watching my style and types of clothes I was choosing. This enabled her to pick out pieces and ask if I had seen or considered that item. Second, Jessica, Ciara, and Denise even arranged all the items I had chosen into outfits they thought would look well together. It was incredible! They showed me how things could be mixed and matched all by just hanging them up in the changing room! They showed me not only trendy, but sassy ways of thinking about dressing that could work both for casual or business wear. Denice was so knowledgeable about the specifics and ins and outs of clothing. It was clear that not only has she been doing this for a while, but that she has a passion for her work. Lastly, they said they would love it if I would show them all the outfits as I tried them on, so, what the heck! I felt like a little model (LOL)! They were so kind, funny, and honest about everything I tried on. They were there for anything I needed, whether it was to get some advice or to get something in a different size. When I was ready to check out, Jessica had a smile on her face and said she could see that I could not find anything I liked... she is hysterical! I loved Maurices clothes before, but this experience has me sold! I believe this type of customer service really ensures that customers feel at home and as if they are special. I know that I will be back to that store, I mean it was like having my own personal shoppers! ;o) They did a stellar job and I can't wait to go back for some more Spring shopping!

However, I didn't know any tailors in town. The last time I had something tailored, it was $40. I called around Davis to see if there were any places that would do it at a good price. One place wanted $70 to get my dressed altered. Man oh man, I was starting to regret that I had bought the dress. I thought Woodland might have more affordable tailors because Davis happens to be a more pricier neighborhood. I found Elaine through yelp and gave her a ring. She was very pleasant over the phone and tried to accommodate to my schedule. I went to her place (not too far from Davis) and did the fitting so she could see how much to take in. She finished my dress in less than a week and was pleasant to work with. The best part of it al was that she did not demand a super high price and was pretty fair.

She listened to what I wanted, and the bustle we came up with is beautiful (and very secure). She is super nice and very responsive, and the quality of her work is so clean. I have been a customer for over a year; I purchased 3 sewing machines and attended classes for many…read moredifferent projects. Having said this, I experienced a tragic & sudden loss of a friend. Prior to her death, I signed up for a class and because of this sudden death, I was not able to attend. I called Sierra Sewing in Reno to see about a refund due to these unforeseen circumstances. After two attempts, I finally spoke with Jared and was told I would not receive a refund because their policy states the last day you are allowed to cancel, for a refund, is 7 days prior to class date/time.  My friend died suddenly and there is no way I could give them a 7 day advance notice-given the circumstances surrounding her tragic death. I have spent many thousands of dollars at Sierra Sewing and after being a loyal customer I am told I will not receive my refund because "that is the policy."  I will never shop at Sierra Sewing again. We never know what life will throw at us and instead of sympathy or sorry for my loss, I was told "sorry, you have to cancel 7 days before the class. That's our policy." Think twice before you give them your money. They lack empathy and are unable to understand life's unpredictable events and finally, they do not appreciate a loyal customer. When they show you who they are-believe them.

We have a lot of skis to get tuned as a family, and I found Ski Pro to have the best prices on…read morethis. The turn around time was good, it just might not be that overnight like some in Tahoe. But for the value, it's definitely worth it. My daughter got new skis and boots last season and the staff were very helpful. There is a buy back program that gives you discounts on the next set, which I haven't used but will likely have to this season.

We got samples about a year ago, and we decided to call her and talk with her about her options and pricing. She wasn't available when I called, but the nice young lady who answered gave us a quick rundown. Cool, no problem. It was helpful. She even took down my number and said Jessica would call us back with more information. To her point, she did. She was, as far as I could tell, very nice and helpful. We discussed a few things about customization, and she said that would be no problem. I said great. She then said she would need to reach out to someone she knew about the customization, and she would call me back by the middle of the following week. That conversation was on 7/31/2026. She said if I didn't hear from Her by the middle of that week. To call her back. I gave her that entire week because I understand she has a business and can get busy. I'm not her only potential client. Makes sense. So I called on 8/10/2026. Which was a Monday. But they were closed on that day. Which is fine. No big deal. I then called on 8/11/2026 which was Tuesday, twice. I left a message. No response or call back. Maybe she didn't want to work with my husband and me. That's okay. The product she makes seems very appealing and nice. It was the best one we saw from the other business we had checked out. But I guess we will have to go with one of them since they haven't reached back out and won't answer the phone. So if you're local, you can swing by and probably, maybe, have a good experience. But we didn't. Just be careful. I wished it worked out because we really want to work with her. But oh well.
