Stopped in for my 1st visit and this place is really nice. One thing you need to know if you've never been here before is there are two sides. One side for the ice cream and shakes and one side for the coffee. Since it was after lunch we went to the ice cream side and had a little desert. There were plenty to choose from I honestly had to get a little help from the lady on mixing and matching. First timer in with a group of first timers today. Really expansive menu of coffee drinks and intriguing collection of flavored coffees. Staff was patient with our need to explore the menu and helpful. Blueberry and cinnamon scones were both a hit. Coconut flavored hot brew was solid and the two iced coffees-- one full throttle caramel with milk and one sugar free caramel with almond milk -- were both good. Felt homemade and balanced like they knew how I would have made it myself. Personally, I'd like to see a few savory items to munch on that didn't force cheese into the equation. It's not uncommon for me to have to ask for dairy free options but these were hard to find. I know it's not the norm in Starkvegas but some of us MS natives do like plant based options. I though the Coffee was bad... I would never recommend it to a coffee lover, but could be okay if you got tons of flavor. Their food selection is basically just whatever baked goods they have (if they have them). I Paid $30 for breakfast & 2 coffees and it was so bad I threw it away. Very disappointed it felt like a waste of money. The 2 stars are for sweet workers and a nicely decorated inside... I could see it being a good place to study or hang out, but this is not a place to actually eat or get coffee. Especially if you are a coffee lover. read more

I've had several different lattes, but the Albino Squirrel and Albino Rhino are my favorites. I'm no coffee snob, but I like myself a cup of flavored coffee every now and again. Mostly, I came to the free Wifi, but was really blown away by their coffee! I was hoping to try their blueberry cobbler coffee, but their current flavored coffee was the toasted coconut. I was sad I only ordered a small, because it was incredibly flavorful and delicious! Usually coffees are served way too hot so you have to wait forever so you don't sear your taste buds off, but this was at the perfect drinking temperature to be enjoyed, and it disappeared quickly. I can easily see why this place is popular with the students. At the back of the coffee shop you'll find the stairs to the upstairs section that's like a little quiet study nest for MSU kids. Terrible. Every time I try to give a 2nd chance I'm reminded why I don't like it here. Starbucks has been closed so I tried the king cake latte. I was looking forward to the purple whip cream. Really liked this place their flavor combinations are very fun and sooo delicious. My favorite is the 30 years war which is French vanilla and English toffee and I crave it at least once a week. Their pastry's and sweets are also delicious and so fresh constantly have a new selection of things every day and they sell out. Just went to the drive thru for the first time minutes ago. My fiancé and I are huge coffee lovers and were looking forward to trying this place. The girl who took our order was bluntly rude when we asked simple questions. Then another employee took our money and asked us to drive forward where the first girl promptly hands us our order, a cold brew and a small ice latte. The latte was a cup of whole milk. LITERALLY. No espresso at all, it was bright white and I thought it strange when she handed it to me but i didn't say anything. Went to Strange Brew when I first moved to Starkville because of the name and unique nature of its location. I was immediately disappointed moments after walking in the door hearing "nutty irishmen" call out from the bar. "Okay," I thought "can't judge yet." Went to the counter to order and my heart fell to the floor as I read all of the false-monikers for coffee items like Jamaican me crazy... what does that even mean? To stay in the safe zone I asked what they had on drip: a house blend and a Mexican roast (this was basically light and dark roasts). To get a better idea of what the house blend was I asked what kind of beans they used and that's when it all came crashing down. "Our contract says we aren't allowed to say" - ?!?!?! Never in my life have I heard a coffee shop refuse to say what beans they use. Part of the charm and quality of a coffee company comes from their transparency about what they're serving you. Reluctantly I was already there, bought a small house brew and did not enjoy any moment of it. Bottom line: IF you like coffee because of all the stuff it has (flavors and additives) and not because of who it is then this place is for you. Strange Brew is the coffeehouse of Starkville. Forget Starbucks, Barnes and Noble...even Shipley's Donuts. This is what a college town coffeehouse should be like. Its sad it has to be part of a gas station and Cold Stone development, but for what it lacks in outside appeal, it makes up for on the inside! It's two floors at a nice quite and busy aspect to the shop, where you can either mingle or study for that next exam. The coffee is not only the best in town, its also relatively cheap. Their speciality coffee mixes are also on the low cost side, but are probably the most flavorful I have tasted in this area. The best part of StrangeBrew is there store front sign. Each week you are sure to get some small inspiration from the gleaming white and black sign. Whether it says "Go Dawgs!" or "Let the Wookie Win" or even attacking the coffee of its next door rival McDonald's, it is always a great laugh. read more

It's a cool interior with plenty of upstairs space. It's also next to an icecreme shop, and nothing comes close to icecreme and coffee. It's right off of 12, so not a far ride from the school.
