The most disappointing experience I've had in a restaurant, much less a Cookout. I came in today and the whole place is dirty. Water was spilled over the floor in many places, and trash littered the tables and floor. The restroom was vandalized and a complete wreck. No one was there to take my order, I had to call out for someone several times. When she did take my order, the girl stared daggers at me, didn't say your welcome, nothing. Full disclosure: I'm obsessed with this place. Are you going to get a burger as good as at Bulldog Burger or even Mugshots? No. But I'll be darned if you can't get a heap of really tasty food that's much, MUCH fresher and tastebud-pleasing than anything you could get at ANY other fast food joint, for as cheap or cheaper than any other fast food joint. Example: two hot dogs, fries, hush puppies, and a giant tea for under 6 dollars. For six dollars, it can be that plus a really spot on milkshake--I recommend the chocolate cobbler, personally. There's also an INSANE amount of variety. Burgers, hot dogs, chicken (fried or grilled), and barbecue. 40+ milkshake flavors. About 12 different side options (including a whole dang quesadilla or an order of chicken nuggets, if fries and/or hush puppies aren't your speed like they are mine). It's open late. The service is crazy fast (as in, done with the drive through in under ten minutes despite there being 8 cars ahead of me fast) and accurate--they haven't messed me up once and I've been more often than I care to admit. I had a taste for a burger and I wanted to try this latest new franchise in Starkville, MS, Cook Out Burgers. This franchise chain originated in North Carolina and has locations in the southeastern states of TN, VA, MD, KY, WV, and GA, The server, I must say was very patient answering all my questions regarding the menu and the types of available side items. I ordered The "Steak Style burger" Cook Out Tray, which consists of 2 sides(of your choice) and a soft drink for $4.99. The burger was "Ok", but not the "OMG" great taste I thought I was going to get. The onion Rings and fries were room temperature which I thought were coming right out of the fryer..maybe next time I hope. Since this location has only been a little over a month, I am sure they are working out the Do's and don'ts of the business and learning the operations. Customer service was good and I hope that continues. Great option for the students there at MS State for late night cravings and for the amount of food you receive price. read more

So visiting Mississippi I decided to try this place out because of the advertised "watermelon shake". Yeah the shake wasn't all that unless you're into watermelon. The value for the food you get is okay but it's comparable to a college restaurant setting. The girl who took my order was a little rude and rolled her eyes when I tried to order and ask her questions since I have never been here. Talking to her friends while I ordered. Was in a hurry so we opted not to go in for our first visit...a Def no no for this place because the menu is so overwhelming.... Im pretty familiar with Cookout chain, I've been to the Atlanta location several times and loved it. I went through the drive-thru and the lady was very nice and patient (even at 1:30 AM) and had all our 3 separate orders perfect. The food was good not great tho. I got the big double burger with hush puppies and fries. The fries seemed a little old and the burger was a tad greasy but other than that I enjoyed it. STAY AWAY FROM COOKOUT ! It has another name "s*-out". This food is so greasy and has a taste that makes your stomach broil. If you eat it, the next 5 minutes you'll be sprinting to the bathroom. Went there and the line was stretched down highway 12, which is a total inconvenience. On top of waiting almost 30 minutes, the food makes you sick to your stomach once again. It doesn't make sense to spend money on burgers that are smaller than the ones you buy from McDonald's. I also paid for a tray and received no drink but was charged for one. The staff are friendly but doesn't make up for the horrible food they make. The fries are as if a whole bottle of salt has been dumped on top of them.
