The Motor Gym

The customer hires out space and then is free to use the Motor Gyms tools and equipment to fix up their motorbike or car. The Motor Gym offer membership schemes for renting out the bays and equipment so you can save yourself even more money. The best thing about this place is that if you fancy yourself as a bit of a Phil or Grant Mitchell in their mechanic days you can pop down here and work on your car in relative safety instead of working in your driveway or garage and causing general annoyance to your neighbours. Also if you do not fancy doing the work yourself but like the space and the work the guys at the Motor Gym do then you can pay them to fix your vehicle. The Motor Gym is open 7 days a week and I think is an absolutely amazing idea that is sure to catch on.
Left my car in today to get an oil leak fixed. But they're didn't fix it. Wait!! Why not?!…read more They didn't fix it because it's the cam seals (whatever they are) that are leaking. And it's a big job to fix. At least £350. So, why didn't they fix it? After phoning me and explaining, they recommended that, if I can persevere until the timing belt needs changed then it would be better to do the two jobs at once. I appreciated their honesty. They could have easily told me it needed sorted right now, and then I'd need a timing belt at another time. I know nothing about cars other than that they cost money!! So, I'd recommend them simply and purely for their honesty. They did not charge a penny for looking and finding the leak either! A thumbs up from me

However as I was in the area this morning I felt a great pull to visit this showroom. it was quite early in the morning and I wasn't sure if there would be anyone there to deal with all my questions. The showroom itself is very bright and welcoming and I noticed that there was an air of efficiency about the place. I didn't have to wait any time before someone came to my assistance and before I new it all my enquiries were being dealt with over a very welcome cup of coffee and in a very professional way. As I had my drivers licence with me I was able to be offered a test drive there and then in a car that I felt could meet all my needs. I was so impressed with the whole experience that I felt that I need look no further for the car of my choice this was definitely made easier by the knowledge and professionalism of the staff member dealing with my initial enquiry.

Scott's Garage

I'm going to sound like a complete Daddy's girl today (which isn't too far wrong to be honest...),…read morebut my dad has been impressed with Johnathan Scott since going to him with car problems three or four years ago. And he's never looked back... Scott's Garage was initially based on the Ballyregan Road, which was handy enough for us being less than ten minutes down the road. My dad took both his car and my mum's for MOT prep, for repair when he had a couple of accidents, and just general look-overs. Johnathan would always give my dad a lift home before starting work on the car, which was really lovely of him, and meant by dad didn't have to use public transport (it's been a while), or get a lift. Last year (I think...these years start to roll into one after a while), Johnathan opened up a new garage in Carrowreagh Business Park, allowing him to expand his business, and still provide the same great service. My dad has never had a complaint about him, he works incredibly hard, and offers his services are incredibly decent prices. What more could you want?!
I recently had my BMW 1-Series serviced at a garage in Bangor, the follow up report suggested that…read morethe engine had " Excessive play in the timing change", although no symptoms or diagnostics supported this report. But this could be catastrophic, if the timing chain jumps on the cogs or the actually brakes while the engine is at high revs. The garage gave me an estimated cost to replace the chain to be over £500.00. I was obviously concerned, but because I had doubts about this report I decided to get a second opinion from Johnny at Scott's Garage. Johnny took the time to do a thorough inspection of the engine, run complete computer diagnostic report, and a test drive. His conclusion was the timing chain appears to be serviceable and of no concern at this time. Johnny a competent and experienced engineer, who at short notice gave me his valuable time and honest opinion. What more do you want from your garage? I will certainly be using Scott's Garage at Dundonald for all my car repairs and servicing requirements in the future. Thank you. John Dawber Bangor Co.Down.

The WORST. These…read moreguys replaced my handbrake cable. The next day, it snapped, and was hanging from the car, dragging along the road. They took a fair bit of convincing to accept that they had to fix it, even after seeing the cable hanging down. Everyone makes mistakes, but the thing is: there are PROCEDURES to avoid making mistakes, when it comes to maintaining your car properly, protecting lives etc.: guidelines on how much to tighten things, crazy notions about having senior people checking what junior employees do, etc. These guys obviously don't follow any such procedures. When I got home I changed the flat tyre to a temp and pulled the huge screw (see picture) that I had run over out of my tyre! To me the tyre looked unfixable due to the size of the puncture so I was resigned to having to fork out for a brand new tyre. After some searching on Yelp I came across George Fagan on the Antrim Road which was nice and handy for me as I didn't want to drive too far with my temp wheel. I decided to call George to find out the craic with tyre replacements and booking in with them and once I explained what I needed the guy on the phone said, 'sure bring her down and we'll have a look!' To be honest I wasn't too optimistic as going by past experiences not having a time slot booked in at a garage can mean a long wait. I headed down anyway as I had a busy day and needed my car to do some pick ups. One thing to note is that George Fagan is on a really busy road so you're best parking on one of the side streets and walking up to the garage, especially if you don't have a booking. I went in and the mechanic told me to 'pull my car round front' and they'd be with me in 5 minutes. It was in fact only 2 minutes until a younger mechanic came and took the punctured tyre from my car and said he'd be back in a minute. Sure enough he did come back in a minute and take off the temp and put on a freshly repaired tyre. Literally I didn't get out of my car during this whole process! He even jacked it up with me in it! He then told me he had fixed my tyre and to keep an eye on it as it was a big hole. He said we may as well see if we can save you from forking out for a new tyre! I couldn't believe it, a mechanic who was trying to save me a few quid! The tyre repair cost £10 in total and I was at the garage for a total of 10 minutes! Unbelievable service! I'll definitely be back when my MOT comes round! These guys really seem to know their stuff and what's best os they are looking out for you!

They have only just began popping up all over Northern…read moreIreland in the last few years and I like the range of car care items, in car audio and accessories and biking equipment, but I have a few issues with Halfords, and this branch in particular. First of all, their own brand range isn't of a great quality. True enough it is cheaper than other alternatives, but it is low quality, as I can profess when I had to bring back windscreen wipers I bought here three times. My most important qualm is to beware the online reserve and collect service. I wanted to get a bike for my girlfriends birthday, despite the fact that she is 21 and not 10, though I suppose that is a good thing or certain authorities would be after me after that admission! I reserved a bike in here as it is my nearest store. I even rang the day before I collected to check everything was going to be ok. Once I arrived, not only was my bike not ready, but it was out of stock in the store entirely. You would think this would warrant an apology but I got the surliest manager imaginable who showed no remorse for the event, and didn't even try and help me find something else in store or another Halfords. I ended up getting something in a Halford's in Downpatrick which I received excellent service, but I will never walk i this store again, despite it having a bigger selection. Service is important, and the staff here need to realise it.
