He is also a truly gifted teacher, and he's been helping me learn about proper form and how to structure my workouts so that I can avoid injury. I also really appreciate that Henry tailors his work with you based upon your own goals. Learning how to work out properly was really important to me, and he's gone out of his way to help me understand how to exercise in a way that never makes me feel silly or weird for not already knowing this stuff. They're always nearby to make sure my form is correct, and they never lose patience when I ask them to remind me how to do certain moves. Speaking of supervision, I went to Lift today for the first time in about a week and a half, and I told Chenell that I've been experiencing some pain in my left shoulder. She sent Dirk outside to talk to me about it, and after I described my symptoms, he re-wrote part of my workout and continued to check in to make sure I wasn't in any pain. I felt super safe and respected, and there was ZERO pressure for me to push through any discomfort. Hiiiighly recommend this place!

It has been years since I've stepped foot in a gym, and I'm not young, so I had misgivings about how the training would go, but those misgivings have disappeared. I have always been active in one form or another, first as a (modest) school athlete, then in the military, and finally just interested in general fitness, but my time with Chenell, Dirk, and Emilie has yielded results (already?!) I've never felt or seen before. Going into this, I submitted information about my background and goals, and I feel it's clear that the team really listened and that I am on a tailored program directly addressing my goals. I am by no means an expert in weightlifting, and thus far have needed many reminders about which exercise is which, what the movements are, etc. but I always feel comfortable asking for those reminders. Dirk and/or Chenell, and/or Emilie are consistently close by for those reminders, or to help with adjustments to form, and pointing out if it might be time to increase resistance (weights) because of increased strength over time. I told myself I was "only" going to do two workouts per week when I started, and almost immediately (and eagerly) bumped it up to three workouts per weeks since I could feel and see positive results almost from the very beginning. I've since discovered that some close friends have also had great experiences at Lift Silverlake, and I've already found myself recommending it to friends based on my experience there.

Unfortunately, I couldn't continue because the class schedule didn't fit my availability. They typically offer only one class per day, often during regular work hours, with no evening classes. I was able to attend weekend classes for a while and would have happily kept coming, but the class packages expire after two months. Given the limited schedule, it just wasn't realistic for me to use all of my classes before they expired. If they added more evening classes or offered a little more flexibility with package expiration, I'd definitely consider coming back.

I decided to come and check it out, I was also looking for personal training just to get the guidance that I so desperately need. I had my assessment with Miguel, and man this guy made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. Throughout the entire hour I spent with him, there was not one moment I felt self-conscious or judged, I felt right at home and it was because of his disposition. He found ways to relate to my personal experience, he managed to make me come out of my shell (which is not a very easy thing to do). By the end of the assessment I knew this would be my new home gym, I needed to become a member AND I needed to sign up for personal training with him of course. I am now a proud member of LM Fitness, I cannot wait to continue to work with Miguel and all the amazing people I have met so far. This time last year I felt incredibly uncomfortable in my own skin. I grew up competitively…read moreswimming and am now an avid runner. I was active and happy with my body. Throughout college and a year or two into the pandemic running was enough. But over the past year coming out of the pandemic and now being in my late 20's, my body started to change and running just wasn't enough. Running and swimming was all I knew and generically speaking my predisposition to easily retaining muscle made me terrified to lift. I felt stuck and was fearful that I would need to turn to plastic surgery to get my body back. Leo was the first trainer to actually take the time to hear me and just listen to the issues that I conveyed.
