She showed us her Proven Winners catalog and had great suggestions for what would grow well together. Today we picked up our baskets and they look fabulous. I can't wait to see what they look like in August! The only disappointment was that with 11 hanging baskets in the Suburban, I only had room to take home 1 more plant. So back to Bennie's we'll go to bring home some beautiful geraniums, lavender, clematis, roses, or dozens of other annuals and perennials. Everything looked extremely healthy and vigorous. They offer a wide variety of plants, flowers, herbs, veggies, gifts, etc. The store leads to the show garden with a quaint foot path. A wooden gate will lead you the way to the tulip fields. Dirt/dusty paths to the field, so choose your footwear appropriately. Porta potties and water stations were available for use. Feel free to roam the fields but be considerate and do not pick the flowers. Excellent trip for anyone, especially families and small children.

At 30 days, the trees weren't even dead yet. So, no guarantee and no replacement and not even a thank you for giving them my money so they could send me some substandard trees. These were interspecific plum trees originally from Dave Wilson Nusery in Ca. I asked the rude person on the phone if I could just get replacement trees next year, they said no. I also asked if DWN warreties the trees and got no answer. So now I will have to buy more trees (theses are varieties I wanted) next year thereby doubling or more the cost of the trees and loosing the year. My advice, stick with quality nuserys that will at least replace the tree. It makes me wonder why they have this policy? Too many claims?

It may seem like a small stop along the highway, but it's almost like a maze. You could get lost in the impressive amount of product. But are they good flowers? YES! The weather was already too hot and rainy to plant. One tree arrived completely dead, and another was much smaller than advertised (3 ft instead of 4-5 ft). When I contacted customer service, they blamed me for not trimming the tree enough and for wet soil, even though they trim the trees before shipping and delivered during severe weather conditions. It took a week to get a response, and after I replied, I never heard back. Overall, very disappointing experience--poor timing, poor quality, and no real accountability.

It's a great place to try some new plants with little risk. Especially if you just want some filler plants because slugs ate all the heirloom veg you grew from seed ahem. I've gotten three or four starts in three-inch pots for just two dollars before, and as the season goes on, they'll have sales and clearances on more expensive stuff, still never expensive though. Big selection, but tends to be hybrid and conventional items, which meets a lot of my needs. The parking lot is tiny so it can get crowded. I went there on the last day of the season, not knowing it was the last day, and after checking out, they told me they were letting shoppers take any plant for free on their way out! Such a cute little gesture. The lines can get long as they only have two registers max at once and some people make huge purchases that have to all be manually scanned. Not a problem, but just to be aware. Wish their season was longer as I plant for my fall harvests, but looking forward to visiting next year!
