    Kids enjoying fishing

It is so peaceful and beautiful here. I don't even have words to describe how amazing it is. We were with 3 large families and we fished, paddle boarded, and day camped. Picnic tables are set up close to the lake and we really enjoyed ourselves. Looking forward to coming back again!

It's clearly designed…read morefor community, and it would be great if you came here with a large group booking several rooms that were next to each other. The lodges are all single-story so you don't have to worry about other visitors making a lot of noise above you. Rather, you can get lodges adjacent to one another and enjoy the lot of lodges that'll be for you. Amenities. There's a large swimming pool in between the lodges. It's big enough to host a large group of people. There's a also very little concern for food. Considering how far away Grand Teton is from Jackson, it's nice that there are several cafeterias/restaurants above the visiting center. There are a variety of options and a coffee shop that opens up in the morning. There's also another lodge with a restaurant if you want something else to eat. The lodge is very well insulated. It was almost 80 degrees in the lodge by the time we woke up, but it was about 50 degrees outside when we woke up. We slept well, but it would have been nice if it was a bit cooler in the room we stayed in. The bathroom is a bit small, but it seemed fitting considering where we were.

We are in unit 361 with a beautiful view of Jackson Lake and the Grand Tetons. Accommodations are spartan but very comfortable. Everything works. Except the drain in the sink was slow. Minor issues. The place is huge and reminds one of a summer camp and has the feel of a ski lodge. The Lodge main house is nice with expansive views of the mountains and lake. There are a couple of nice restaurants a bar and touristy shoppes that had just about anything you needed. It is rustic. We have stayed in other National Parks, Denali for example, and this is quite similar but our room here has a better view than most. All staff are very friendly and accommodating. Housekeeping was a bit discombobulated. We were not told the rooms would be cleaned every other day we are here for three nights. When we came back from an 8 hour tour on day 2 our room was not cleaned and a fellow was just starting to do that. He was rushing and missed a few things which we needed to remind him of. The place should really be more diligent regarding this stuff. We are using the lodge as a base for our adventures in the area, wildlife spotting, river rafting and nature hikes. Some snow flurries came down. The Blue Heron bar and lounge was really nice. Jean Patrick and Shorty took great care of us each night. Martini's were well prepared and my Vesper was nicely done even though they could not find the Lillet Blanc the first night. We had a few meals at the restaurants. The breakfast in the Mural room was excellent. Service was good. Dinner was in the same place with our tour group a basic meal. Our third night we ate in the Mural again and it was excellent Bison and trout and elk bolognese. We had breakfast in the Pioneer room the next day. A retro diner 1955. Food was good service was great. Apparently all the staff come from somewhere else and work here for the summer months. Everyone is pleasant and simpatico. A nice place to stay at a National Park. We left about 6:30am to get there at 7:30 (and we were still 10 minutes late). The last 5 miles are on a dirt road, through absolutely gorgeous country. Just be forewarned that it's a dirt road! They were very gracious and allowed us to join the 3 hour ride, despite being 10 minutes late! They have the cutest dogs! Their big St. Bernard, Teddy demanded belly rubs, which I would have happily given all day. They also have the tiniest little pom I have ever seen! So adorable. All of their horses look so healthy and happy. They are obviously very well cared for. Their facilities are clean and well maintained and all of the employees were friendly and engaging. Our wrangler for the trail ride was knowledgeable and fun to chat with. She was attentive without being overbearing. We stopped several times so she could check our saddles and cinch us up, if needed. I don't have to say that the scenery was insanely beautiful. It's Wyoming in the summer, and the Grand Tetons! I felt completely spoiled coming from CA where everything is currently a shade of brown, and dry. Our horses were very well behaved and made the ride easy. Thank you so much to Swift Creek for a beautiful experience! I got to see parts of Wyoming that I would not have been able to otherwise. I will definitely be coming back!

At the last minute, I had tacked on an extra day and really wanted to do one night under the stars. So I booked a night here through Recreation.gov. Jenny Lake Campground is a really beautiful campground. The campground hosts were really nice and gave me lots of information about the area. I had limited gear because I flew in and they directed me to a couple spots where I could do some shopping for food and supplies. Jenny Lake Campground is a small 51 site campground that is a few hundred yards from the east shore of Jenny Lake. No trailers, campers, or generators are allowed. It is tent camping only which I loved because it made it so peaceful. Maximum per site is two tents, one vehicle, and six guests for up to seven nights. There are food storage lockers on hand because bear activity is frequent in this campground. I'm a big outdoorsman and really enjoyed my night camping here. It was nice and quiet and I had great views of the Grand Teton mountain range. It did get a little chilly overnight because it was raining when I arrived. But my overall experience was wonderful.

So dust off the old Kelty and prepare for a more primitive experience. No generators, no RV's, just tents. This is a very desired campground. Reservations are usually made well in advance. If you're flexible watch for cancelations. That's what we did. So one thing to be aware of is this is an area that is frequented by lots of wildlife. On our visit we saw deer and fox. But bears are around as well. So food must be kept in your vehicle or the provided metal storage box. Dishes are washed in camp and then you dump the dirty water and debris in the toilet. This is though if your are in one of the spots that's away from the single bathroom facility. Phone service is ok to poor to non existent depending on your carrier. I had an ATT phone and Verizon. Verizon is a no go. ATT had service in the campsites near the restroom. Most people (including myself), want to get away from the internet and phones. But if you need to be in contact for work or whatever plan ahead. Finally, this is a prime location in one of the more beautiful spots on earth. Staying here puts you right at the base of the Tetons and within walking distance of the Jenny Lake visitors center. Jackson is 30 min away and Yellowstone is 1.5 hrs or so. Sit back, relax and enjoy.

Bring your parking pass if you have it otherwise there will be a charge just to access the area. Once you arrive at the boat landing, parking is free. From there you can either hike a portion of the lake and take the boat back, simply do a hike, or take a boat ride/hike, or just ride the boat! There is a charge for riding the boat with discounts available for kids and seniors. There are only facilities at the boat landing and once you leave you're on your own! You're constantly reminded that you are in bear country so bring some spray, bug repellent, sunscreen, plenty of water and snacks, as there are no amenities in the wilderness areas. Hikes and climbing opportunities exist however, for the more advanced area permits may be required so check before you leave with Park Rangers. We were very happy to have started early as when we returned by noon the landing was exceptionally crowded, and parking was nonexistent. There is shopping, some concessions, and beautiful area to explore just around the boat landing area. This is a fantastic stop, but again emphasize. Be here early!
