This is one of the better ice cream parlors. They have tons of free 2-hour street parking around the parlor. Most of their ice cream is made in house and they have tons of exotic flavors. I got a two-scoop sundae, which I must admit, was a lot more than I could handle. It was huge, but also delicious. I opted to go with the Maple Walnut and Pistachio Pecan. Like I said, It was huge. The staff there was friendly and helpful and they have a dining a small area in the parlor that you can eat your frozen deliciousness. As with most restaurants, masks are requires unless you are seated and actively eating. This is my new Detroit ice cream spot. I will definitely be back and highly recommend that you give them a try too. read more

Firstly, no I am not native to Michigan. However, I visited this fine establishment a few months back and must let people know the truth! I have never had better ice cream... anywhere. Not only is the ice cream amazing, the staff (who seemed to be mainly high school and/or college kids) were wonderful and you could tell that they were educated on protocols and were 'cool' under pressure as it was pretty busy when I was in town. The inside is always clean and staff friendly and there is both indoor and outdoor seating offered! They have a large variety of flavors that cater to several different dietary restrictions too! I love this place! They accept cash and credit, they always have an adequate number of servers and the ice cream quality is amazing. There are about 5 coolers of ice cream, yogurt, sherbet and sorbet to choose from, so choose wisely. They offer waffle cones, sugar cones, cake cones and waffle bowls, along with sundaes, shakes malts and other ridiculous treats. Hints: Ask for a cup of water if you want, it's always free. A junior scoop is usually enough if you can't eat too much ice cream. Never order the brownie sundae... you will die of a chocolate fudge overdose. It's all about the Moose Tracks ice cream. A summer evening favorite is to park down by the river, walk up for ice cream, and then walk back and watch the boats go by while enjoying our treats. So I suppose the neighborhood is at least as much fun as the ice cream. The service at Stroh's is usually decent, but expect a wait on a nice evening, as this isn't an original idea. Luckily this is somewhere I never have a hard time making up my mind, but it is a good idea to look around and know what you want before it's your turn. Stroh's is an ice cream staple in downtown Wyandotte. I heard about it when I first moved here and knew I had to give it a try. Walked in on Sunday, and the place was packed. First sunny and warm day we've had all year so everyone was out and about. The line moved fairly quickly and when it was my turn to order, I had no idea what I wanted because everything sounded delicious. I ended up with a two scoop sundae with Praline Pecan and Coconut Almond Fudge topped with Sanders hot fudge sauce.....O M G was it good! Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream!! get it! This has been my favorite ice cream place since I was a kid and probably always will be. Its clean, the employees are really nice, the owner is SUPER NICE and really cares about his store and the customers...and the ice cream is the best around!! I really like that they hire younger teens and gives them the opportunity to start work at such a young age! It's hard to avoid going here anytime we're downtown during spring/summer!! read more

What I have just witnessed is not for the faint of heart. We just left Stroh's ice cream. I had a junior pistachio cone. It was lovely. My husband had the Michigan Bear Trax.....raspberry and chocolate....he loved it. Now here is the unbelievable part. My teenage son got...................wait for it................ A BUMPY CAKE SUNDAE. Yes. That's what I said. It was a HUGE slice of Sander's bumpy cake. Vanilla ice cream. Sander's hot fudge. A mountain of whipped cream. Nuts. Oh my word. I never knew such a thing existed, but it does...in this cute little ice cream shop in Wyandotte. That's enough of a reason to go there, but it was clean and had nice seating outside (there were a lot of bees). I have a feeling I will be driving the boy there many more times. read more

Clean, cute shop. TONS of flavors, generous scoops and really good quality. The ice cream is creamy and rich, not pumped with a bunch of air and ice like a lot of places. The staff is usually nice, and the prices are good for what you are getting. And yes, they have Saunder's products.. bumpy cake and the infamous hot fudge. Soooo good.. there is nothing like it! Any place that has Saunder's is A-OK in my book! In the summer, especially nights and weekends, they are busy, but hey, what ice cream joint isn't? My favorite ice cream (shhh... don't tell Calder's) Ok so I'm not a *huge* ice cream fan. I can count on one hand how many times I have it in a given year. But when the craving bites (or more likely, when my wife begs me to go get ice cream), my first choice is Stroh's. It seems like they've got 50 flavors, and I've probably tasted around half of them. The consistency of the ice cream is perfect - hard packed, but soft enough to eat from a cone. Speaking of cones, their waffle cones are great, and the upcharge for them is the smallest I've seen (50c I believe). My favorite flavors are coconut almond fudge and cookies and cream (best C&C I've ever had). Oh, and portions are generous. I always get the junior cone, and rarely finish all of it. read more

I was spending the afternoon in Wyandotte with myself, just window shopping and it was 95 degrees that day so I went in to Strohs for some ice cream. There were a couple employees standing around chatting when I walked in, they all greeted me. Then the woman that actually helped me gave me a sample of the lemon green tea, which I loved! We talked about how it was very refreshing on a day like this when the humidity already makes you feel really sluggish. So I got a cup. Then she complimented a tattoo I have on my arm. That sparked a half hour conversation about our favorite books and tv shows! The woman was very sweet, and honestly I left the shop feeling so incredibly happy that I just had a great conversation with a stranger. I'm kicking myself for not catching her name cuz she was so accommodating and engaging but I give her high, high praise! I plan on stopping in again the next time I visit Woodhaven, just to talk Harry Potter with this girl again :) And the ice cream was delicious! The store was clean. Everyone was friendly. I have only been here once and I was quite impressed. Arrived around 7:30 on a Friday evening in the summer. It was very busy probably about 20 people ahead of us. The line moved quick. I went with the single scoop Blueberry pie dish. Delicious! This was one of the ice creams they make there. It looked like it had a whole pie in it. Very tasty! Even the single scoop looked like I got 2 scoops. My wife had a cone of mint chocolate chip. The waffle cone you could tell was homemade. The employee who took our order was friendly and very quick. We ended up sitting inside since the patio was packed. I did appreciate the ample seating and I really appreciated the outdoor patio. Most ice cream parlors lack the outdoor seating. When in Wyandotte I will be back. Likes Stroh's much better the Saunders up the street. read more

I always thought that Strohs ice cream is a premium ice cream. Wouldn't you agree? Then why would they dump a fifty cent can of Hires root beer on top of my premium ice cream root beer float. I mean really? They can't have a six pack of Virgils's root beer soda, or any kind of premium soda lying around to make a proper float? Some folks just don't care about thier product. And I really don't want high fructose sweetener in my float. Other than that it is a good place for ice cream, and people watching outside. I have always loved this place, especially since the ice cream is house made. However, on my 2 most recent visits I have been very disappointed. The moose tracks ice cream had about 3 " moose tracks" in the entire scoop and the peanut butter cup ice cream had about 3 mini peanut butter cups. If I wanted vanilla I would have ordered vanilla. On the positive side, for $3.75 you get a super sized single scoop. read more
