Pro tip: The speed is free on Sundays. My daughter was inspired by some community artwork with mixed media on canvas. We showed a picture of the inspiration to Ms Audrey. She had the perfect materials and know-how to help us create our own masterpiece, inspired by the art we saw at the museum. My daughter did not want to do anything else in the city besides make art with Ms Audrey- we even skipped the children's museum. We learned different techniques for using the materials and I'll definitely be incorporating them as we continue to create at home. I told her that I generally make it to Michaels once a year when it's time to enter my state fair photos. She told me that she shops there even on her days off. At checkout, the pack rang up for higher than the quoted price. When I questioned this, the cashier not only made the point to check the price, but found a coupon, making it cost even less. The streets of Louisville were light on traffic and very few people walking. As we were walking back to the garage we spent some time window shopping. As we near The Alley Theater we stop at the lobby window and look at the cool arts and crafts for sale. At least. ..they weren't officially for sale, yet. We comment on how cool some of the items were when a lady standing nearby overheard our interest. She then told us she was the owner and ahe was opening tomorrow. She gladly offered us the opportunity to go in and shop if we were willing to pay cash and exact change. We couldn't resist and went in. About 20 minutes later we were the first sale for Awesome Opossum! We took a picture with the owner and signed the $5 bill for framing! Since then we've wanted to return and shop during official hours. We stopped by today and this is a great little A&C store along Main Street. This street gets a lot of foot traffic and metered parking is available along the street..... if you can find a spot! The store is located within the lobby of The Alley Theater and, although small, it is filled with a nice variety of arts and crafts and artwork from local artists. We bought a couple of bracelets that were a bit too short. The owner was awesome enough to add a few links to lengthen them and we walked away with some pretty cool stuff. Prices are reasonable and the owner tells us the inventory will rotate. We love supporting local artists and local stores. Awesome Opossum is a great addition to the local business scene.
